"Twelve Etudes for Children" (2022) was composed by Wiwat Suthiyam (b. 1989), a Thai composer, as he noticed there were very few piano works for children in Thailand, especially etudes. Each of the twelve pieces in the collection has its own unique characteristics and provides specific technical challenges.
For Etude No. 6, Moonlight Nocturne, the composer writes:
"This etude is designed to help you master the playing of 2 against 3 throughout the piece. Understanding this type of polyrhythm will make playing the piece easier. The texture of this piece consistently features three layers: the melodies are in the right hand and should always be emphasized, shaped beautifully. The left hand plays triplets as an accompaniment for most of the piece, often containing hidden short motifs that imitate the main melody of the right hand."
Twelve Etudes for Children is published by Emerald Music Publications, and is available at: emeraldmusic.b...
