I fell in love with The Challenger right away. Took it for a test ride. Purchased the bike, brought it home almost 100 miles away from the dealership. After riding it that distance, figured out that bike wasn't for me. Just the ride, and everything wasn't gonna make me happy overtime. Knew I would regret it, so the next day I took it back. I purchased the 2019 Chieftain Limited instead, and so far I'm a happy man.
The Challenger is a damn beauty, I love the way it looks. Handling wasn't bad, ride wasn't bad, but there was just something that wasn't sitting right with me. Today I brought home the Chieftain. For anyone that does purchases the Challenger, don't be discouraged and ride the hell out of that thing. Would love to see lots of them on the road.

Damned nice comparison brother! I just cane back from dusting of the winter hibernation dust on my Chieftain Limited. I did the Challenger but dude I’m in my 60’s and a hard core old School Lover. I’ve owned AMF Shovels, and Twin Cam Road Kings.... by far my favorite was the Gilroy Chief I bought new... a sinister all black one that I rode 11 years. But the most well balanced all around Scoot is my Modern Tech Indian. It gets me right in the heart, mind body and soul. Stay safe brother...

2 negatives I found with the Challenger I rode.
    1. Heat coming from the radiator fan blew in my face
    2. The motor had a strange clanging sound at idle.
This is a higher RPM engine, so it takes some getting used to run at higher RPMs

Still keeping my 2019 Dark Horse to me that is one of the prettiest Motors ever made and I am a little old school I get on my bike to get away from technology and the busy of the world. I love Indian Motorcycles. In fact, I was going to pick one up last summer. However, after comparing it to my Yamaha Stratoliner, the Strat gave me more smiles, so I picked up a Rocket III instead. I'm thinking perhaps a 2021 or 2022 version of the Challenger might be more up my alley. (give it time to get the bugs out) Then again, I don't like fixed fairings because I like to go naked in the summer. If they put that engine on one that looks more like a Springfield.....I'd buy it tomorrow.

Pushrod V twin can ONLY be air cooled, simple pushrods vs a multitude of cam chains and gears and just what you need in the desert is a water cooled that blows a water pump, a seal, gasket or a 50 cent O-ring or a hose, Good luck with that !

Great comparison. I do understand your personal reasons. The end of this video is more shocking that the end Avengers End Game... Lol well not that drastic but I was really surprised. If you give me a Chieftain AND a Road glide for free I would sell them both and buy the Challenger and load it with the extra money. I have the base model Challenger because it was at the time of purchase what I could afford. I'm glad that Indian decided to give us the same engine, performance, suspension etc and let us decide that "OK locking saddlebags I can live without, smaller speakers with the same 50watts per channel, etc etc."
I have owned 27 motorcycles mostly Touring and Cruisers and IMO the Challenger is the Best bagger ever made PERIOD.

My brother made a joke the other day about how he needed to trade his Indiana in for a Harley now with the coronavirus out there. My wife fell for it and asked him why. He said because you know that a Harley can’t catch anything. I will give the handling to Indiana for that mono shock and frame that they have but as for power that M8 is hard to beat. Don’t know what’s out there for that new 108 in that Challenger but I imagine it still wouldn’t touch that 128 kit for our 107s.

I think you need a Gimble for your camera person. I've noticed the last couple of videos, it's quite shaky.

Not surprised at all. No need for two fixed fairing motorcycles. Now get that Africa twin we have been waiting for for a year!

I’d take either bike if someone gave them to me. Otherwise, I’d just buy some Buell heads for my Sporty or new shocks for my FXR. Or a KLX. Then I’d pocket the 20 grand I saved and have some epic motorcycle camping trips.

Adam do you have to give it back to Polaris?just asking cause it’s stock still and you just got it and are getting rid of it regardless of having same fixed fairing bikes.

Another side note which you probably didn’t experience on yours cause you didn’t mention it, but the Challenger were having a bunch of electrical issues. Some other bloggers who were doing a Challenger/ Road Glide comparison had to have Indian send them a second bike caused the original one had electrical issues. Indian did do a pretty good job of keeping their problems quiet tho. Thanks

I am torn...i love the looks of a chieftain, but id really like to have that power of the Challenger. Be a win win for me if they would slap the power plus on the chief! Lol

I always wondered which engine could be more reliable, if the air cooled in chieftain or the liquid cooled in the challenger... Also need to tell that I plan to drive on dirt roads from time to time (not always of course and not off road) so I just have that doubt and hope someone can help me to clear my mind
Which engine is better? Not in performance or speed, but in quality and endurance
Great video as always Adam, keep riding free and high brother, I wish you nothing but the best
    Big hug to all

The Challenger is a good looking bike in real. The frame mounted fairing is a better concept. The adjustable windshields on Indian is a big plus.

Love the Chieftain. I'm sure Challenger is faster but that air cooled motor and front fairing look awesome.
