I briefly remember reading about this in one of Knoxville's newspapers back in 2001. After the man gave more information about the case. I remember reading that someone said you could still see blood stains on the carpet inside the house before it burned down.
One of the saddest parts of this, other than the obvious being the murders, is that the house is just gone. So much history destroyed all the time in this country it makes me so sad.
Very interesting. And very sad. 3 people lost their lives for what appears to be motivated by greed 😞 And one not only was murdered in cold blood.. but became the scape goat for a heinous crime, covered up, and possibly even co-conspired by the Sheriff at the time. I hope someone who knows the truth, will find it in their heart to come forward. Give these 3 people whatever justice this could bring, so they can finally rest peacefully. Along with their family and descendants. 💔
Mary, the younger sister, obviously had something to do with it. Why would she continue to send “students two different times to make sure the sisters were getting ready for their outing?”
That's a very good assumption by that point their wealth had dwindled down significantly. I tend to hold with the cousin as the main suspect only she had it done rather than pulling the trigger herself. Hopefully they will one day be able to close this case.
@@jeffreykidd4248 The cousin also owned an insurance company; she could have drafted policies, and manipulated them, to get a payout under a different name. Since she owned the company, no one else would know about it, much less question anything…
Thank you for the story and video. I thought it might have something to do with whoever was close to whoever gained out of this but not neccessarily. I do always keep an open mind.
Local (Knoxville) news anchor Sam Brown got the interest in this case up and running again back in the early 2000’s. He was going to make sure the sisters received justice but was basically told to shut up about the whole thing. He talked to Oliver Springs historian Sonny Harvey back then. Sonny knew everything about the town and had his opinion on who did it. I spoke to Sonny Harvey back then and he told me a lot. Everybody who ever talked to Sonny knew why law enforcement didn’t arrest anyone.
I agree. The neighbor's gun was used & then it comes up missing. This is the same neighbor they had an on-going dispute with as well. Yep the neighbor did it & I have no doubt the sheriff knew this but bcuz of either friendship loyalty or possibly kinship to that neighbor, chose to use Powder as the scapegoat. I believe someone alive today knows exactly the truth & I hope they feel the need to die with a clear conscience & they come forward.

Such a heartbreaking story!
There are no crimes of passion. Only horrible abusers who plan for and build up to that final act.

It’s over now who really cares , GOD will deal with all of that . We got more important problems to worry about in todays world
Ive never heard of this. Very interesting. Im surprised someone hasnt written a book about the murder.
The lady Danita Ashley wrote a book about this case. They say it at 1:12
I have always been intrigued by this story
Why are people being silent about it? Do they know something they dont want brought to light?
Anyone who had anything to do with the murders are long dead and buried. These people are chasing ghosts.
Seriously? The murders happened 83 years ago!
Decendants.
Small town , old money...bet there are streets named after some of these people
OR maybe know one actually knows anything especially 80+ years later.

Why they sell the property at 1 dollar that's a question
Because no one at that time would buy a house that was the location of these murders! They feared " The Han'ts" would get them!

The perpetrator (s) of this tragedy will be held accountable, just not in this dimension. It's gonna suck to be them.
