Was this Kentucky Father's Son Murdered? | American Unsolved Crime Documentary

  • Mike is one of those “forgotten” ones, for whom the American dream never came true. In the twilight of his life, Mike, an ordinary American man from Kentucky, is convinced of one thing: his son Kelly was murdered. The police have closed the case but Mike intends to uncover the truth.
Kelly was last seen in November 2018. Initially, with no body, the police were reluctant to investigate. So Mike offered a reward of $ 10,000 to anyone who would give him information about his son’s disappearance. Then this didn’t work, he sold his house and increased the reward to $ 25,000. Still nothing. When Kelly’s body was finally found in the river, four months after his disappearance, the police classed it as a suicide.
But for Mike, everything suggests that this is murder and not suicide. In front of his computer screen, he sets out the evidence from his investigation: camera images, surveillance of two car parks in the city center on which we can see two figures ghostly in the night, Kelly and another man. He shows us criminal records and ‘wanted’ notices of men he suspects of having killed his son.
In the course of his investigation, the old man reminisces about his past. He wonders about his own trajectory and that of his generation. A history of the American twentieth century emerges. Through the portrait of this “ordinary” man from the southern United States, we offer an immersion into Christian white America.

I guess you always feel guilty about not being present for your kids. But one thing is immediately clear in all the hugs and kisses and sheer love this dad shows in the old home movies, he gave them more love in one day than most kids get in a lifetime. So what if he worked every day? He LOVED them, and showed it. ❤❤❤

I'm a firm believer in giving my babies hugs and kisses on the jaw. They will ALWAYS know you love them whether you're gone all day from 8am-530 pm mon-sat working or if you're home. I will always show my babies love no matter how old they are, because you never know when you're gonna hug them for the last time. This man should never feel guilty he tried his very best to be there for his son. He just wasn't there when he lost his life and thats heart breaking. I hope one day this father gets answers before he leaves this world. I live in Kentucky and know all to well how louzey law enforcement are in this state.

What this poor old man needs more than anything is professional psychiatric services. I say that no matter how great an injustice that you've suffered in the past, it's not worth throwing away your future because of it. He is depriving his remaining family 100% of his love and attention because his head is stuck in the past. If film producers REALLY cared about the families of Crime Victims, they would compassionately guide them to the professional help they so badly need instead of exploiting their grief in front of a camera for financial gain.

@@joekulik999No way. I haven’t even watched much of this yet but if one of my children were murdered, I’d have to either die along with them or spend the rest of my life searching for justice.
Do you not have children you’re close to or something? What an odd take you have on this.

I'm 70, I've done labor work my whole life, I'm female, I stock shelves in Walmart all night..last 11 years, was a zookeeper for 45 years, worked both jobs together for some of the time. Took care of my mother for 6 years as she got dementia, plus I have a small hobby farm and have to take care of all my animals. I'm tired. I want to retire so bad. Have a bad right hip that really hurts from time to time. Had to buy my x bf out of this place in 2002 and start over, then when I had 15 years to go on the payments took care of my mom under hospice in my house so I couldn't work..had to collect social sec at 63 and I had to modify my house loan. Well.... Didn't know they were gonna add 30 years to the 15 I owed. I have to work til I'm 109 to pay my house off. I've paid for it for 30 years total as of 2023. Still owe exactly what the initial cost was, $ 105,000 between my mortgage and HELOC I had to get years ago to consolidate bills. Oh my...it's an old house in need of many repairs. I might get $100,000. free and clear..can't buy much for that in Maryland. if I moved and could have my animals I may as well not live. That's what I live for.not sure what the answer is here. Maybe sell it and buy a couple of acres and no house but at least have my horses etc. wish this guy all the luck in the world. Did his son have water in his lungs? If he was killed someplace else and dumped, he wouldn't have water in his lungs. Sorry, im lonely and have no social life and tend to talk too much.

Some people can’t even afford to buy their medication or go to their doctors. Living out of Food banks. It’s a shame, wat the democratic party 😈has turned into..Trump loves this country and he’s been treated so unfairly and lied on. I think it’s terrible. What happened to Riley strain that poor kid was sent to his death when he was kicked out of the bar it’s like no one cared about him. That stupid bar should have called an Uber for him or let one of his friends leave with him. Who knows if he fell in or was pushed in. He didn’t look like a drinker given his height and weight. It wouldn’t have took very much to get him drunk. I wonder if his friends bought him drinks just to laugh at him I’ve seen it lots of times. It brought tears to my eyes, seeing him staggering, down the street and fall into that post and no one would help him. The bar that kicked him out in that condition, and his so-called friends are responsible for this young man’s death. 😢

He seems like he was a hard working, loyal, American husband/dad who never gave up on his family, even when things were more than tough. Who could ever expect he’d be the type of man who’d give up now? He has grit and he’s going to continue searching for answers until he gets them. Or, until his body wears out. One or the other.

Every neighborhood speaks doesn't matter if it's through the whispers or by some other means. Unfortunately sometimes police overlook the obvious and this is definitely pne of those places.y . My heart aches for this father. Hoping to get the closure that he so rightfully deserves the answers this family desperately seeks 🙏🙏🐾❗

He is right when he says "Too poor to make mistakes" I tell my kids it's expensive being poor, try to save what you can, live a little beneath your means and avoid debt when you can. It takes time to build a little nest egg but it's so important to have a little reserve as something will ALWAYS come up, an emergency, flat tire, bad tooth, medical bill etc. When you're poor, you end up paying a higher percentage to make payments . Sometimes it's unavoidable, but always try to keep a little something back.

He knows his son. A parent knows by instinct. I believe this man. And yes, the police should hear him and investigate ALL avenues and the state needs to get this man at least his justice ! If nothing else, so his son can rest peacefully, and he can feel vindicated and is a good Dad and did his due diligence. Please listen to this father ! He lives in the area, knows the area well. Hunches, instincts, have solved many cases, long before dna and cell phones and cars with gps. We pray he at least gets justice. He was robbed of his son ! ❤ 🙏

Yes, pay a private investigator with that money. They will work a lot harder than the police will. The cops are in it for a pension. The PI’s work for results.

No foul play

I live in Eastern Ky. and if the state and city police are anything like they are here they just want it to be over and don't look into murders/accidents long. They just go with what the corner says and close the case, even if all the dots don't lime up.
