Season 5 was the peak right when them getting to Alexandria was when everything was downhill and starting not feeling like a zombie show no more and the story got so slow and boring . Way too many main casts died off up to season 5 and that was enough after that even way before Glenn and Abe died

And after this. Tyresse would tragically be bitten by Noah’s brother and a second walker and die from the blood loss. Abe and Glenn would die by the hands of Negan and Lucille, Sasha committed suicide to try to kill Negan after she became a walker, Carl killed himself after he was bitten, Rick blew up the bridge and was presumed dead by everyone but Daryl and Michonne who spent years looking for any sign of Rick still being alive , Tara then was murdered and decapitated by Alpha and her head was put on a pike to serve as a warning and Michonne left to find Rick.
I'm still a diehard fan of the show, but this was definitely the peak of the show.

Everything you just mentioned pretty much sums up the downfall of the show from start to finish. That's why the show failed after season 6
