"Nintendo refused to develop any Nintendo DS prototype farther until it could survive a 1.5 meter drop ten times without any loss in functionality." "Nintendo DS Lite."
+Raddishist sadly i don't think they tested the hinge that well. my first ds fell outta my pocked hit the corner of the hinge and it sploded. well not really but was busted in half
+Raddishist Idk about yall, when I got my DS Lite when I was around 12 or so, I beat the shit out of that thing and nothing ever stopped working on mine :p
Gibbstronic Not really, I dropped my 3DS while playing it outside on the stair case and dropped it by accident and next thing I knew the touch screen did not work. The touch screen still showed images its just that when you touch nothing will happen. I got a new 3DS but after a while the circle pad became really unresponsive.
I have dropped my DS Lite, DSi, and 3DS so many times I cannot comprehend how they survived. Thank you Satoru Iwata, hardware design team, and everyone else at Nintendo!
I know some people might not care, but if you have a DS game that has a code on the bottom starting with TWL instead of NTR, that means the game is enhanced if it is played on a Nintendo DSi, for the codename of the DSi was Twilight.
You want to talk about durability? I had a Game Boy SP that fell into a river and all that happened is the backlight went out, and that turned back on 3 months later.
KC Coleman If I ever decide to stop owning my older Nintendo handhelds (which may be never), I might end up doing this with any kids I may have in the future. Literally none of the Nintendo consoles I own are broken and in disrepair; they all still function perfectly. Even my older handhelds, and they have bite marks on them!
Xbox 360: Supposed to be incredibly advanced and be the future of gaming. Breaks randomly from playing it Nintendo 64: Tv falls on it... no damage at all Nintendo > All
Hearing the DS start up is my childhood in a nutshell. I literally took my DS EVERYWHERE I went, and my most fond memories was me playing Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts everywhere I went.
Did you also know that when downloading an application on the 3DS eShop, you can use the Circle Pad to change the angle of the camera, (similar to using the C-stick on Super Smash Bros. Melee on the Menu User Interface), only to realize that the downloading animations are actually rendered in 3D polygons, not 2D sprites. ;) I just found that out the other day while downloading a bunch of demos. Unfortunately, that's the only thing I could find.
Surprised you didn't go deeper into the Nintendo DS originally being released as a third pillar besides the Game Boy and console line of products. It also kicked off their infamous Blue Ocean strategy where they tapped into the casual market and innovated the appeal of games outside of the (hard)core market. And the touchscreen innovation! So much more to talk about. ]:
+Amelia Hartman agreed. i dropped my original ds and the hinge broke off, but my dad talked to Nintendo and they let me send it to them and they repaired it for free. i think it was still within a one year warranty or something.
+猎人 I've used my B button so much that it's broken. As soon as you break a button, you start realizing how hard you actually use a controller. I'm too hard on my 3ds :Z
I have sort of the opposite problem with the 3ds wherein the console doesn't turn off immediately after I press the power button but instead it confronts me with a power-down prompt on the touch screen. Countless times I've pressed power only for the thing to be dead the next time I picked it up because it was stuck at that stupid prompt. Sometimes it hangs at a black screen after I press the power-down prompt and close it too quickly, of course all the while using power an eventually dying. I always liked that the DSi would instantly turn off if I hit the power button or return to the home screen if it tapped it lightly.
***** nintendo is literally not caring about losing a handful of sales due to region lock. because no region lock means strong import business, where in the end, they and usually the european retailers make a loss. region lock prevents such things from happening and, in the end, is more profitable for them and retailers, than the few import sales you don't do now. in addition to that, most people who value imports so highly, end up buying a second console and all those games anyways. so its a win win for nintendo and retail. just not for you specifically.
clydefrosch Except it's not a handful. It's quite a few people. This is why piracy starts - because games people want to play are denied to them by stupid shit. Honestly, I have a 3DS but if there were a decent emulator I would download so many roms that I can't get legally because of region lock and not feel the slightest guilt over it. I have a DS and I bought a ton of games from other regions - I have no issue with paying for games, but when they aren't there I'm not given much of a choice aside from having multiple 3DS's on which to play different region games. And I refuse to do that on principal.
7thlittleleopard Yup, I pirated Layton vs Wright when it was out in English for Europe but NOT America, though I would have imported it if it weren't for the region lock. I did buy it when it came out here, though.
***** my wii fell of a waist high wall after a kidd pulled on the GameCube controllers cored. it smashed hard down on the tile floor. there was not even a mark on it. it still booted up and all download games worked. but it could not read discs. this is after having it for 5 years so well past warranty for 50 bucks they payed for shipping and they fixed it and sent it back in a week and a half. thats cheap and fast. and they treated me great. no other return i have done has gone that well
Mark Enderleit then why don't they make any master pieces or original games these days or even good games what fans are asking for instead of the same cash cows every time so not really a master at all
mywlan2 Listen... Im not going to discuss this with someone who clearly lives under a rock... so... Im sorry dude but I dont associate myself with cave people.
I went through 3 Nintendo DS consoles… First one I bit the top screen and cracked it, second one I hit with a pole and the third I just broke the case. Still working though! Damn Nintendo and your family friendly yet super angering games.
My DS was the first game console that had a piece pop out, the shoulder button; panicking I tried to put it back it and it worked ever since; in fact it worked better. Weird though.
Izaiah Ruelas I can't even exaggerate about this. I dropped it while using it on the toilet (come on, we all did that as kids) and the screen was all white, didn't work. Literally just let it sit on a counter for a day and then it was fine, after some cleaning of course. And it just sat in the rain for hours... how do you make something electric able to do that?? I still have no clue how it's possible. And dropping it down stairs three times was the least of the problems. Meanwhile, I got an iPhone 5c years ago, It fell off a table, and it completely shattered.
I miss the durability. The newer DS models and the 3DS are as fragile as a baby's soft spot. I could drop them from an inch up, and the hinge would break.
I've dropped my 3DS an almost innumerable amount of times and it still works like it's brand new with only a few small chips; most I've got was a "game cart has been removed" error.
Mine survived all manner of abuse from pretty much right around when I got it to Shadow Dragon's launch years later. When I got SD, I was so excited to get playing it, but when I put the DS into sleep mode for like, 10 minutes, I opened it back up, only for the hinge to just SNAP for no discernible reason. I even opened it even more gently than usual, but it just kinda broke on one hinge for no reason (which proceeded to mess up the top screen after about a week. Good thing I have a DS Lite that survived like twice as long and is still going).
Not like to the very back click, but to the normal open-level like in the thumbnail. It just snapped for no reason when I did it, like audibly snapped, too.
It's weird, I use to have my Gameboy and it was gray but it was called GameBoy Light, I sold it for $10 online but idk if mine was like a limited Edition of something
Eh, this one came a little too late for me to consider it my childhood. Play the chime followed by the 'ping' of a gameboy color though...chills up my spine. I have so much love for that thing. YOU HEAR THAT GAMEBOY COLOR?! I LOVE YOU!
Well I'm going to say this, the R4 is the exact reason why the DS hardware sold so much. In order to play a great library of games from the R4, you had to go out and purchase a DS. The reason why the 3ds isn't selling as well as the DS is partly due to other inferior shit like mobile phone games, but mostly because there isn't an R4 to play on the 3ds. I guarantee you, the 3DS will sell almost as much as the original DS if R4 could play 3ds games.
metal079 Really? Well it has been awhile since I went r4 fishing, but if what you said is true I guess it's a great day to be a pirate. With that said, the 3ds is still not selling the DS numbers.
I feel pretty ashamed for pirating DS games back in the day. But, hey. I was a little kid. I was offered all the free games I wanted, whenever I wanted. I couldn't say no to that. Nowadays, I'm a pretty big anti-piracy guy. Still, if it wasnt for that card, I wouldn't have discovered Ace Attorney, so...
Munchiemox Well, most kids don't really have the intelligence to see illegally downloading files as stealing. Probably because it doesn't involve dressing up in a striped suit and putting the files in a big bag marked with a dollar sign.
AceAttorny you are not alone on this. I remember how i pirated the Ace Attorney Games and TWEWY. And now i'm sitting here, with only Ace Attorney 3+4 missing from my collection (I even bought Dual Destinies on Day 1) and with the Case of my imported Verion of TWEWY (The Price is too damn high in Europe for a new copy, so i imported from America for 20 Bucks. Looking back, i did bad, but it was that way that i got to see Games that weren't promoted by Nintendo/anyone else, and i started to become a Gamer. Right now i feel great.
Thank goodness they didn't go with Cityboy as I think they would've had another differentiation confusion scenario for non-Ninty fans just like the Wii and the Wii U
I remember dropping my original DS in a pile of snow getting out of a car, so a 3 foot drop at most, broke the top screen hinge. I was so upset but I still used it for YEARS to come. Has to be one of my favorite gaming devices of all time.
My original DS was being charged on a table, the cord stretching from the table to the wall. One of my sisters was walking and she accidentally tripped on the cord. The DS was yanked down to the ground and smashed against the floor. It lost it's top screen hinges and now the top screen wobbles around and falls unless it's held, making it un-playable. The warranty was long gone, so I tried taping the screen in such a way that the screen wouldn't fall. It worked, but only for a few months. After that the tape started losing it's durability and the screen went back to wobbling. Then my other sister's DS just suddenly lost input on the top screen. We opened part of it up and found the strip that carries the top screen's input was snapped in half somehow... even though it had never been opened before and there were no holes in the DS. It was essentially impossible for anything to get in there and snap it. But it snapped anyway. So both of us are without top screens and are without an original DS. Maybe they were designed to not break if dropped on concrete and nothing else? Now we all have DSi's. Let me tell you. Those are a lot stronger. Mine's still in near-perfect condition! The only one that broke is the one owned by the sister who lost her original DS as well. She was taking pictures with it and it just suddenly snapped off. When she tried to turn it back on it just showed "OOFEOO" on the top screen. Upon googling it, it said you could fix it by draining the DSI completely, then restarting it. I did so, and it worked for a few hours before simply showing that same error message again. We don't have a warranty for this one, either, so unfortunately she's still without a DS. :( But the DSi's are still much stronger.
***** Lol. Yeah. Sorry about your 3DS! D: On a related note, yes. The 3DS is definitely less durable than the original DS/DSi. I don't have one but I had a friend who does. The thing feels like it just wants to break in your hands! Very cheap and "plastic-y". It's a very weird feeling to get from a Nintendo handheld as those things have always been strong. Have you ever used the Gameboy Advance SP? I along with my two sisters all have one. We got them when we were, like, 6! They all still work perfectly fine!!! Lol. Those things are invincible! Mine has some minor scratches on the top, as well as a sticker (Lol. I was a kid.). But, besides that, it works perfectly fine! Hinges still work and everything! Same with my two sister's GBA's, except there's don't have as much scratches as well as no stickers. Lol. They were smarter than me as a child... And, FYI, my GBA has been dropped from 1 foot+ distances onto concrete on occasion. Sometimes from even higher distances! It's even been dropped onto a road out of a moving vehicle while powered on and playing a game! And only minor scratches! I didn't even have to reset it as the game somehow didn't freeze up after being dropped from the car! xD We just pulled over, I got it, I got back in, un-paused it, and kept playing! xD I'm telling you, those things could survive being run over by a bus! Lol. The 3DS? Not so sure about that... I'm not even sure it could survive being dropped from a seat INSIDE of said bus. :/ So, in conclusion: 3ds = plastic. (Survives about a 1 ft drop.) DSi = metal. (Survives about 80 3 ft drops.) Original DS = stone. (Survives about 15 3 ft drops.) GBA SP = Molten Lava. (Survives infinite drops of infinite lengths.) Jk. xD But, seriously. Nothing can stop it!
***** Ikr? That thing is amazing! It's portable, durable, and has a huge library of amazing games! I have so many memories on that thing! ...It was actually my first gaming device ever! :)
***** I know! That was back where developers took time and effort to make their games instead of rushing them. It was when there was no lag/barely any in all the game's you played, and no one even knew (Or cared!) what "resolution" meant. It was when gamers of all kind could get excited about something together, as a team, regardless of which company made it, instead of fighting over which console is better to the death and never speaking positive words about their "enemies". It was a time where consoles lasted years (Again, still have my GBA! And my PS2!) instead of breaking almost immediately after being turned on for the first time. (Such as the Green Screen of Death on the new Xbox One's, or the RROD on the Xbox 360. I lost several Xbox 360's that way... :( ) No paying to play online (Online gaming didn;t really exist on consoles for a long period of time, anyway. :P), no quick-fix patches or costly DLC just to unlock your entire disk. Developers had nothing to entice you into buying a game except for the game itself, and if that was bad, it was a game over. So they actually cared enough to release finished games instead of releasing a buggy, un-finished mess and fixing it later via updates. Now, all of that's not saying I don't like consoles/games now-a-days. I find consoles such as the Wii, PS Vita, Wii U, and Xbox 360 to be amazing! (Not to excited about the Xbox One or PS4, though. :/) And no one can argue the awesomeness of PC gaming. :P (Not trying to be all "PC Master Race." It's just that there are actually tons of ways PC's are "superior", as hardcore PC fanatics like to put it. xD) It's just that times are different now than they used to be, and in many ways all of this new technology now standardized in consoles/PC's actually makes things *worse* for the consumer. :( *Ahem.* So, yeah! I loved those games, too! :) Especially Rayman! (Luckily they haven't ruined him yet! :D Rayman Legends is fantastic!)
***** Surprisingly I haven't played that yet, so I can't comment on it. However, I've heard it's great and it looks totally awesome. Probably going to be picking that up soon. :)
My DS Lite is still in perfect condition since I got it in 2006 that's 9 years and no problems and in july 2014 I did get a nerf case and eventually a Nintendo 2DS
Two things; 1. I would have loved it if they kept that Gameboy Advance Compatibility with the DSi and the 3DS as my step father has some GBA games that I used to sneak on my old DS to play. 2. What the hell does the i in DSi stand for anyway?
+CunningCondor yep, my ds survived a trip to the beach (full seawater accident and sand and all xD) The sound sometimes went out and back on for a sek but it was fine otherwise. Learnd my lesson after that one xD
wait for it... THE NEW NINTENDO 4 DEE ESS NOW WITH INTERDIMENSIONAL GAMEPLAY AND TRIPLE SCREEN, ALLOWING INTERNET AND GAMES TO WORK AT THE SAME TIME!!! that sounds pretty badass, actually.
Eh, I see them sticking with the two-screen design. No point changing what isn't broken. THe only thing they should do is improve the graphical and other hardware properties as technology improves.
Anthony Dranfield My brother left his pokemon pearl in his pants. It was put to wash and dry. When I grabbed it, I showed it to him and said "That things dead". He then proceeded to put in his DS and it played perfectly fine with save file still intact. I got so pissed at his luck.
I once left my Pokemon Diamond in my shorts, it went into the washing machine, and then the dryer, and when I put in my DS, it still worked, and thankfully my saved data was still intact
I can't tell you how many time's I've left cartridges in my pockets. Especially to my copy of SM64DS. That thing's been put through like five times and it's still fine. A little finicky, but fine. Also, it thawed your Empoleon? Holy crap. You're lucky it didn't burn it at that rate.
They should have continued the Metroid Prime series, and added an online multiplayer. That would have helped them out. Other M didn't turn out so well...
Nintendo has plenty of mature games; gore and swearing don't make a game mature, if that is what you're getting at. Nintendo doesn't NEED R rated games to have 'mature' games.
I forgot my gameboy advance outside one day and there was a rainstorm in the afternoon. I noticed after that that i was missing my gba and remebered i'd let it outside. To my surprise, it was still working! Well sometimes the screen went black and white, so my mom sent it to nintendo to fix it. Good as new! It fell on the floor countless number of times and i still have it. I pretty much lost every game i had with it but i still have dkc3, need for speed underground, tony hawk's pro skater 3 (my first console/portable game EVER!!! That means excluding pc) and mario advance. I probably should keep it for 20 years and sell everything for 10 times the usual price... Mind that some games are in french because je parle francais et parce que je suis québecois.
If "NTR" is short for one of the codenames for the original DS, what does "CTR" mean for the 3DS? Was it called "Citrus" during development or did Nintendo just wanted to add upon the "NTR" naming?
not sure, but the 3DS emulator is named "Citra" which could be based off a codename like other emulators are named. I wonder what the other abbreviations stand for? 2DS is FTR 3DS XL is SPR New 3DS is KTR they could be based off Japanese words so it's hard to guess. (the DS Lite USG stands for Usugata which means "thin model" in Japanese)
Hang on, hang on- if the ds was made to survive a biiig drop onto concrete without losing functionality.... WHY DID MY ORIGINAL DS START BREAKING WHEN I DROPPED IT WITH BARELY ANY DISTANCE ONTO A CARPET?!
I think we should test this by putting a vest of nokias on a dummy, and a vest of N64s on another dummy, and seeing which protects from bullets, explosives, nail bombs, and crushing weight the most effectively.
Prime Hunters was like-one of the best games on the DS! I'd suggest picking it up if you own an XL version of a DS console (3DS is also capable of running normal DS games) if you don't own it already. Or if you constantly lose cards and DS's like me you could just get Desmume from emuparadise and try to figure out how to control it with a mouse and keyboard but y'know, nobody is that dedicated.
6:08 yeah, but mite pink ds lite splitted in half when fell of my bed. Also, after repaired it start broken again. It seams there's and issue around pink ds lite consoles that makes them more vulnerable.
Yet Piracy is sometimes the only way to play certain games. In my region (South USA) we don't get many foreign games. If I had an R4 or whatever, I would download games I couldn't get in my area. Or I would get games TOO EXPENSIVE to get. Have you seen the Amazon/Ebay prices for Metal Storm? I can't afford anything like that... so the only way to play that would be emulation. I WANT TO BUY GAMES on the system, but they must release them for me to buy first. Earthbound (Mother II) is great, but they haven't released the prequel or sequel outside of Japan, so emulation is the only way. If they don't want priacy to be a big thing then they need a low-cost alternative.
viraticwars Earthbound sold poorly and it was also expensive at the time when it was sold new. You can get that on the Wii U virtual console now. Your points are basically games that were sold second-hand for expensive prices, it is not the company's fault that their customers made the games highly valued and sought for.
It's not so simple, but it's kinda true, as steam and other online "game shops" showed, piracy is mostly related to inaccessibility of legal games, that which happens mostly because of high prices. There's a lot more to it, but at least here in Brazil, aside from the minority that pirate just because they can, the majority would buy games if they were affordable. At least, that's what happened with steam aaand others, because here, let's say, a year after launch, consoles cost like 3 or 4 times they cost on USA (believe me, they cost, much, much more on launch), but games cost almost the same, if not less (go figure) than USA, soooooooo... that means that if you can afford a console or high end PC here, you surelly can afford it's games too. Conclusion, there's a lot less piracy here because games are finally affordable for most gamers.
CoWinkKeyDinkInc You can't prove that though. Correlation does not equal causation. It's very easy to blame piracy for everything but it's also bad business practice since it vastly oversimplifies the issues.
I can see it now... "Introducing the 4DS! Get immersed into your favorite games even more now that you can see it in 3D, hear it in surround sound, and you even feel whatever your character is feeling!" And then Mario falls into lava
"Handle with Care on any gaming devices is a Must" DS does seem to be built for durability, for most children are playing it sometimes do have slight accidental DS dropping on floors. Preventing screen-shattering breakage thanks to the clam-shell design. The touchscreen also need to become soft and durable because of shock absorb material that's comfortable pressing with a finger or stylus.
As long as you live, you still can live the miracle that is a DS... Buy a 3ds, some used DS games, and be one of the million most happy people in the universe!
5:32 Hey! In your DYKG N3DS video, you forgot that someone had his Nintendo 3DS burnt and it still works despite the volume slider being all the way down and the SD card slot jammed.
Actually, They did because R4 had an In built software that aloud them to use ROMs. Nintendo won on that technicality. So Now people have to jump through hoops to get a flash kart to work because they have to get the appropriate software to get it to work. So it would be hard to get seeing how file sharing sites are quick to remove 'em.
ROMs will feel more natural when played on their native devices, but you don't have to buy a console to play it on your computer, and it's more adaptable (e.g. you can customize ROMs, add cheats without use f external devices, use controllers not designed for the system). No one is better than the other, though.
What those above me said . . . . Although for showing other people it can be incredible to have an emulator on a PC (or console) hooked up to a TV screen. It's amazing how much detail is (and did) go into making some of the scenery of (DS) games, when played on a large TV . . . WOW!
CrystalJadeOrb I dropped mine once whilst closed and the screen broke at the hinges. It's only held together by the connecting wires and cables. I always thought the original DS was the flimsiest console I've seen, especially since it's the only one I've ever broken.
Well, I dunno what you did wrong. I've dropped all my DS systems up to the 3DSXL dozens of times and never had an issue. Heck, my original rolled down a flight of stairs at school after someone knocked it out of my hands.
TheSealGuy and Co. when i was a kid i dropped mine and the LCD cable got screwed up and for a few months it displayed everything in A:reddish B:bluish C:UGLY AS ALL HELL SHREK SHADED GREEN
Is Ubisoft or DYKG Right? According to Ubisoft, Far Cry 4 is the first video game to be played on everest. (Or, will be, I dunno if that's quite happened yet.) According to DYKG, or it's sources more like, Madden was. SOMEONE HELP
this video just states that the DS made it up the mountain and that the hikers enjoyed playing Madden, not that it was the first video game to be played on Everest :)
I think they don't want to over saturate the market, recently we have had Ocarina of Time 3D, Wind Waker HD, Link Between Worlds, Hyrule Warriors and in 2015 Zelda U. So I'd guess to keep it annual Majora's mask will be 2016.
Skrubwrecker1337 It would be more than just nostalgia. It would be made to have another solid game on a handheld that has good replay ability, and allow for those who missed out on the original to play it legally and with updated visuals, etc.
They didn't do a good job with making the DS hard to break, my original one fell from a small bedside table and hit carpet and the bottom screen broke. GG nintendo, GG.
Shorts master Aiden Neally No, it was the actual system I should of worded that better The screen was fine, the insides broke making a weird double 3d without glasses and sometimes unreadable blur
The DS is my least favourite Nintendo system... It is a good system and very strong with RPGs but... It is very lacking in a lot of genres that I really like... Like arcade-style racing games, Shmups, Beat 'em ups, Tournament fighters so on and so forth... Instead we got touch-based minigames, puzzles and a few decent platformers... In my honest opinion the GBA was a FAR superior system when it comes to the games...
Amen, then when you find a beat'em up it be slow or even touch screen gimmicky, and as for fighting games, don't get me started with Mortal Kombat 3 on DS which is sadly my first introduction to MK v.v. Personally I felt the GameBoy is a bit overlooked because it has a massive library of hidden gems.
Dynamic Samurai It doesn't stop there... The only shmup I found on the DS was nanostray and it was the worst shmup I have ever played! And what is worse is that it was made by the same people who made the jaw-dropping iridion 2 on the GBA! (which is far superior to it in every single way btw) And then, the closest thing to an arcade-style racer on the DS was Asphalt, and it's good for a few minutes, and then it becomes boring... The only good "true" fighting game on the DS is Dragon Ball Kai Ultimate Butouden, and guess what? It's Japan-only! But hey, there is a good beat 'em up on the DS... It's Star Wars III Revenge of the sith, but guess what? It's a port of a GBA game! It's good, but it's not a DS game... It's a GBA game running on the DS... You know what the DS needed so much more of? Games like Contra 4... Contra 4 was amazing on the DS but there's next to nothing like it on the system! Instead we get a exagerated ammount of Pokemon games... The DS is a Pokemon machine! Good for the fans... For me I could either take it or leave it... Doesn't make a difference...
God, I hated it when one my L + R buttons were no longer functioning >.< And even after it got repared:D _3 Months later_ "Whoops! Just dropped my Ds!:D Oh whats that? The L button is dead?... Not again you STUPID SH-! But still :D There were some memorable games:)... only playable with touchscreen.... meh
Nothing beats a Nintendo handheld, nothing.
The only thing that can, is another Nintendo handheld.
Hero190909 What would happen if you launched a Nokia and a Nintendo handheld at eachother?
Nokia.
Unshaved Stuff nokia did make a handheld it flopped though
Drew Thompson Please don't tell me you're talking about Ngage? I'm going to laugh super hard if that what it is.
Agreed. Nintendo is the best at handhelds.
"Nintendo refused to develop any Nintendo DS prototype farther until it could survive a 1.5 meter drop ten times without any loss in functionality."
"Nintendo DS Lite."
+Raddishist Mine's been dropped down stairs and into a lake, but the wifi no longer functions. Otherwise it still works great.
+Trees and Stuff Wifi doesn't world on any old DS systems, the service was shut down.
Josh Buckley I mean the one for pictochat and stuff. Can't use it at all.
Nintendo makes some durable stuff. I accidentally dropped my Gameboy SP off my second story balcony onto a tile floor and it still works perfectly.
Mike Anthony the pad on my circle pad acually pops off when spinning it in circles
***** the 3DS's durability is like 10 times worse than *Any other handheld Nintendo's ever made*.
CaveL1ghter No. DS lite is.
Mathieu L I've dropped my DS Lite like 18 times in its lifetime and it still functions perfectly to this day.
I have dropped my DS Lite, DSi, and 3DS so many times I cannot comprehend how they survived. Thank you Satoru Iwata, hardware design team, and everyone else at Nintendo!
:p
I'm going to really miss Iwata.
stop lying
***** i'm not holeass!!
aguylol Iwata was a big part of Nintendo's history. You just saying "stop lying" when someone saying they're going to miss Iwata is just plain rude.
Me too.
Did you know gaming is my favorite anime.
I know some people might not care, but if you have a DS game that has a code on the bottom starting with TWL instead of NTR, that means the game is enhanced if it is played on a Nintendo DSi, for the codename of the DSi was Twilight.
You want to talk about durability? I had a Game Boy SP that fell into a river and all that happened is the backlight went out, and that turned back on 3 months later.
so, if an sp experiences water damage, its fixed within 3 months? knew i shouldnt have thrown it away
I still have mine. 12 years later. I think it's gonna be a family heirloom
KC Coleman same lmao
KC Coleman If I ever decide to stop owning my older Nintendo handhelds (which may be never), I might end up doing this with any kids I may have in the future. Literally none of the Nintendo consoles I own are broken and in disrepair; they all still function perfectly. Even my older handhelds, and they have bite marks on them!
Were you hungry?
Xbox 360: Supposed to be incredibly advanced and be the future of gaming. Breaks randomly from playing it
Nintendo 64: Tv falls on it... no damage at all
Nintendo > All
Nintendo DS: went to the top of everest itself.
The tv broke
The Xbox 360 Slim I own has gone through 3 owners and still works great, but it is a Slim so it won't red ring anyway
Hearing the DS start up is my childhood in a nutshell. I literally took my DS EVERYWHERE I went, and my most fond memories was me playing Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts everywhere I went.
I had an addiction to that game
Hearing the NSMB DS first level music brought back so many memories for me.
Me too, especially when it's the first handheld system and the first game I own...
@SSEmery *disturbingly hard?* yeah when we were kids, maybe but not now.
Oh, and one more thing, the eShop helper is only a flat polygon.
+101ToonLink xD okay, i may try that one
I discovered that the first time I downloaded something...I am magical. :v

WHAT THE HECK IS THAT- Oh, it's Japan
so?
A joke about how weird Japan is.
Blamhammer a very bad joke indeed.
I never said it was a good one.
THE RACISM THESE DAYS
If you set the DS Lite's date to your birthday, the startup sound changes.
I should try that :D
Yes, in Pictochat
I'm glad they didn't name it City Boy for multiple reasons, one being that if you pronounced it in Japanese, it would be "shitti boi".
that's chinese, "Stop destroying my shitty(city) wall!" - South Park Chinese Dude
Veronica Reynolds XD
"HELLO, WELCOME TO SHITTY WOK"
That's racist
And DS sounds a lot cooler
I friggin love Phoenix wright music!
Whats the name of the background music?
+Chuckman02 Phoneix Wright For Life.
In more ways than one

Surprised you didn't go deeper into the Nintendo DS originally being released as a third pillar besides the Game Boy and console line of products. It also kicked off their infamous Blue Ocean strategy where they tapped into the casual market and innovated the appeal of games outside of the (hard)core market. And the touchscreen innovation! So much more to talk about. ]:
Nintendo DS Part 2 maybe?
There's definitely going to be at least one more part, but probably two or three.
Uhh, they did talk about all of that.
Unshaved Stuff
only a little bit with the City Boy thing, there's more to talk about on this subject and it's interesting
***** Not really. What they mentioned was an abridged version of everything.
My 3DS is certainly durable it has survived falling off my bunk bed at least 20 times xD
so true, I dropped it right on a corner and it had a crack but it still works 100% fine
true, but the original fat DS was not, the hinge on that broke off. It's the only game console I've ever broken.
+Amelia Hartman agreed. i dropped my original ds and the hinge broke off, but my dad talked to Nintendo and they let me send it to them and they repaired it for free. i think it was still within a one year warranty or something.
My 3DS is certainly resistant to being dropped, but both the shoulder buttons have broken just from being used.
+猎人 I've used my B button so much that it's broken.
As soon as you break a button, you start realizing how hard you actually use a controller. I'm too hard on my 3ds :Z
1:17, city BOOOYYYY!!!
city BOOOOYYYY!
uhhh... whaaaaaa...tt???
Jack Quinn Aren't you just adorable. :P
Jack Quinn thank you. that reference just made my day. :)
Jack Quinn i think this is the best reference ever
Man, you are ADORABLE. Adorable?
The PS2 is a great system, but I feel that about 20% of their totals sales are from the DVD player breaking.
Jason Quinn I had that problem a bit too much.
Nintendo DS can survive Mount Everest? What element does Nintendo use for its hardware?
swag
It's called Nintendium.
100% Pure Nintendium.
Nintendium
Triforce?
I always hated having to turn it off everytime I backed out of something. Anybody else with me?
yeah
Yes
I have sort of the opposite problem with the 3ds wherein the console doesn't turn off immediately after I press the power button but instead it confronts me with a power-down prompt on the touch screen. Countless times I've pressed power only for the thing to be dead the next time I picked it up because it was stuck at that stupid prompt. Sometimes it hangs at a black screen after I press the power-down prompt and close it too quickly, of course all the while using power an eventually dying. I always liked that the DSi would instantly turn off if I hit the power button or return to the home screen if it tapped it lightly.
SomeGoomba533 yea
once i forgot to turn off my ds, then came back to it after 1-3 months and it was still on haha
The best thing about the DS and DS lite was no region lock. DSi and 3DS users were clearly fucked over by Nintendo.
Not to mention the "New" 3DS will STILL have region lock!
***** nintendo is literally not caring about losing a handful of sales due to region lock. because no region lock means strong import business, where in the end, they and usually the european retailers make a loss. region lock prevents such things from happening and, in the end, is more profitable for them and retailers, than the few import sales you don't do now. in addition to that, most people who value imports so highly, end up buying a second console and all those games anyways. so its a win win for nintendo and retail. just not for you specifically.
clydefrosch
Except it's not a handful.
***** You actually thought that they would have took off region lock on the New 3DS?
Oh man, the memories from being like incredibly young are flooding
Love how they had the sound effect that plays when you touch the warning screen as the DYKG logo disappeared. Nice touch.
Nintendo really does make their stuff super durable. I have never had any Nintendo product break to the point that they wouldn't work anymore.
My friend managed to drop an unhinged door on his wii and it still worked afterward!
***** my wii fell of a waist high wall after a kidd pulled on the GameCube controllers cored.
it smashed hard down on the tile floor. there was not even a mark on it.
it still booted up and all download games worked. but it could not read discs.
this is after having it for 5 years so well past warranty for 50 bucks they payed for shipping and they fixed it and sent it back in a week and a half.
thats cheap and fast.
and they treated me great.
no other return i have done has gone that well
***** My brother stepped on the gamecube wires and the wii fell and broke...
My DS got run over by a car once... Yeah, I was a stupid kid :)
Only damage was a tiny graze on one corner though. Those DS Lites were hardcore.
my das has a mostly broken touch screen and d pad, the edges haveworn off. lots of scratches. still works fine.
Nintendo Master Company. Wii U Master Console. 3DS Master Hand-Held.
Everyone, listen to this guy.
then wheres all the 3rd party games? master console my a**
mywlan2 Still a Master company
Mark Enderleit then why don't they make any master pieces or original games these days or even good games what fans are asking for instead of the same cash cows every time so not really a master at all
mywlan2 Listen... Im not going to discuss this with someone who clearly lives under a rock... so... Im sorry dude but I dont associate myself with cave people.
So I was in the bus that day, thought nothing bad, as it is my usual way to school, suddently somebody shouts "OBJECTION!!!"
That guy made my day
I went through 3 Nintendo DS consoles… First one I bit the top screen and cracked it, second one I hit with a pole and the third I just broke the case. Still working though!
Damn Nintendo and your family friendly yet super angering games.
I Reccomend Stress balls and Boxing.
You _bit_ it?
Well of *course* it's going to break when you actually try to break it!
TheRPGirl Do you not bite shit you are angry at? Cheesus.
lol, bite-gnaw-THRASH!
Nice to see your son finally doing an episode, Shane.
The DS is insanely durable, but who else had problems with the hinges?
Moi
lol I know I did with the first model
I had a problem with the L/R buttons.
Every single freaking time!
My ds hinge didnt break untill yesterday and i have had mine for like 8 years
That picture in the thumbnail has the d-pad and the buttons switched
it is just a refrection
Luigitime13 I saw that; I think they made a mistake!
Ahhh the DS I remember the first one I had.
Then I broke it 3 times.
Good times.
My DS was the first game console that had a piece pop out, the shoulder button; panicking I tried to put it back it and it worked ever since; in fact it worked better.
Weird though.
3 times...3... HALF-LIFE 3 COMFIRMED
***** that's how I broke the first one.
Strange...
my ds lite has dropped out of a vehicle going 20mph, it didnt evan freeze the game
John Carver wow.
I dropped a gameboy advance into my toilet, left it in the rain for nearly 5 hours, and dropped it countless times but it was fine.
Holy crap. My phone couldn't survive that.
Jaden Igguks Mine barely survived snow o-o
my dog bit my gbc
and it is a german shepperd....
it works great
lol
I miss the durability. The newer DS models and the 3DS are as fragile as a baby's soft spot. I could drop them from an inch up, and the hinge would break.
2DS master race.
*****
lol, just be careful of scratching those screens, ok
My 3DS is fine after years and years, and yet my DS Lite has a completely broken hinge after not much use a long time ago.
^same here.
I've dropped my 3DS an almost innumerable amount of times and it still works like it's brand new with only a few small chips; most I've got was a "game cart has been removed" error.
so, it can survive Everest, but not my kid dropping it?
My DSi fell 5 times without breaking
Cheif hi I dropped my DS once and it almost broke in half.
Tony Floyd Wait what so do open it all the way?
Not like to the very back click, but to the normal open-level like in the thumbnail. It just snapped for no reason when I did it, like audibly snapped, too.
I have the R4 for some reason. I found it in the bottom of my old toy box. I don't even have a DS, where did this come from?
That's how all pirates acquire their loot
Kevin Efigenio Friend left it behind?
Manjit Toor I don't remember, but I think one of my family members gave it to me long time ago.
andrewstare Let me have it
No wonder my DSi XL survived from falling down one and a half stories...
o_0
According to physics, that's much more than the stress of 10 1,5 meters falls... I say you are really lucky.
Pedro Boh Lol yea and when it happened I freaked out so bad until I opened it and the game I had in sleep mode didn't even freeze.
Holy crap, seriously?! O_O
Yea I'm not joking at all
This isn't sarcasm even though it really sounds like it >.
the only part of the DS that was not durable were the R and L buttons
Oh yeah. That's how I lost my DS Lite
***** mine got stuck. literally. stuck to the base.
It's weird, I use to have my Gameboy and it was gray but it was called GameBoy Light, I sold it for $10 online but idk if mine was like a limited Edition of something
UBot That gameboy was from JAPAN!!!
0:06-0:10 The sound of my childhood
you,re still a child
Hans Rickam fine...mid-childhood
Hans Rickam The DS came out in 2004. If you played it when you were 8, you're 18 now.
Eh, this one came a little too late for me to consider it my childhood. Play the chime followed by the 'ping' of a gameboy color though...chills up my spine. I have so much love for that thing. YOU HEAR THAT GAMEBOY COLOR?! I LOVE YOU!
Mdude360 why would you say that???? I'm only 16 and now I feel old... and I still have my first DS... after 10 years...
I guarantee you, the 3DS will sell almost as much as the original DS if R4 could play 3ds games.
metal079
No, are you?
Actually there IS an R4 for 3DS....
*****
But it doesn't play 3ds games.
LeontheSmithy there is a flash card for 3ds its been out for months and the 3ds is doing very well withought piracy
metal079
Really? Well it has been awhile since I went r4 fishing, but if what you said is true I guess it's a great day to be a pirate. With that said, the 3ds is still not selling the DS numbers.
5:44 They should’ve done that with the Joycons.
I knew a lot of people to use those cartridges and even back then I knew it was wrong.
Munchiemox Well, most kids don't really have the intelligence to see illegally downloading files as stealing. Probably because it doesn't involve dressing up in a striped suit and putting the files in a big bag marked with a dollar sign.
AceAttorny lol yeah. Its kind of a shame though really.
***** and when your favorit ones never geat a sequl only you are to blaim for not suporting what you like
AceAttorny you are not alone on this.
Gotta love how they show footage from Phantom Hourglass during the piracy segment.
Thank goodness they didn't go with Cityboy as I think they would've had another differentiation confusion scenario for non-Ninty fans just like the Wii and the Wii U
AbdallahSmash026#1Fan whatever you want it to be...
I remember dropping my original DS in a pile of snow getting out of a car, so a 3 foot drop at most, broke the top screen hinge. I was so upset but I still used it for YEARS to come. Has to be one of my favorite gaming devices of all time.
I know who your avatar is XD
how would the iphone 6 do during the test the game boy and ds went through
then procede to put its self inside a microwave and use wave
it would bend.
It would blend~
It would bend, the screen would shatter into atoms, and then it would leak naked photos of you onto the internet.
AverageJoe5050 Damn it! I was gonna make that joke. >_>
But the DSi's are still much stronger.
***** Lol. Yeah. Sorry about your 3DS! D:
On a related note, yes.
I didn't even have to reset it as the game somehow didn't freeze up after being dropped from the car! xD We just pulled over, I got it, I got back in, un-paused it, and kept playing! xD
I'm telling you, those things could survive being run over by a bus! Lol.
The 3DS? Not so sure about that... I'm not even sure it could survive being dropped from a seat INSIDE of said bus. :/
So, in conclusion:
3ds = plastic. (Survives about a 1 ft drop.)
DSi = metal. (Survives about 80 3 ft drops.)
Original DS = stone. (Survives about 15 3 ft drops.)
GBA SP = Molten Lava. (Survives infinite drops of infinite lengths.)
Jk. xD
But, seriously.
No paying to play online (Online gaming didn;t really exist on consoles for a long period of time, anyway.
:P (Not trying to be all "PC Master Race." It's just that there are actually tons of ways PC's are "superior", as hardcore PC fanatics like to put it. xD)
It's just that times are different now than they used to be, and in many ways all of this new technology now standardized in consoles/PC's actually makes things *worse* for the consumer. :(
*Ahem.* So, yeah!
Two things;
1. I would have loved it if they kept that Gameboy Advance Compatibility with the DSi and the 3DS as my step father has some GBA games that I used to sneak on my old DS to play.
2. What the hell does the i in DSi stand for anyway?
1. IKR!
2. Heck should I know.... internet maybe?
It's a pun. The DSi had an inbuilt camera. DSeye.
Krais101 Well that makes sense... don't know how I missed that though...
It had many reasons, the fact that it now had a camera (eye), it was a personal handheld, and it could use internet browser
blue shell Why do I feel your going to to pull a douche move?
My first DS broke after one drop from my 5'5" self.
I must've gotten the single defective one.
My DS just kinda stopped working one day
+Mingo American My 3ds was thrown over 5 times, chewed by little brother , dropped over 20 times. It still works perfectly to this day. :D
+CunningCondor yep, my ds survived a trip to the beach (full seawater accident and sand and all xD)
The sound sometimes went out and back on for a sek but it was fine otherwise. Learnd my lesson after that one xD
CunningCondor Mine broke from a 2 foot drop.
I'm wondering what is next for Nintendo handhelds. The "dual screen" concept has been going for 10 years now.
wait for it...
Damian Freeman
Lol maybe they'll add some VR features to it xD
I always thought the DS was digital system and the 3DS was 3 dimensional system
Joseph Sisto Same
Now do the Wii!
Twilight++ is where its at no r4 required
What and amazing fact... the DS was actually intended to have high durability... This is why Ninten-Does what other companies just DON'T!!!
I see what you did there! you know about the war sega and Nintendo had going on way back in the day don't you!
Cordell Hankins
Like literally everyone else above the age of 12.
James Sunderland if I ever see a 12Y/O talking about Nintendo and Sega instead of Sony and Microsoft, literally, I'm going to crap my pants.
Marlon López sadly....that's not very likely to happen....
I'm ten and I think that NES > Xbox
Pokemon Black and White. The best games ever.
I just wanted to know who in their right minds thought, "Touching is Good" was a good tagline.
I accidentally spilled a hot pot of coffee on my DS Lite,
1. It still worked fine
2. It thawed out my frozen Empoleon. O_O
I once dropped my Pokemon Ranger cartridge into a mug of coffee, the sticker came off but it still works fine.
E1Gatt0Negr0 that happened to me too lol
I can't tell you how many time's I've left cartridges in my pockets. Especially to my copy of SM64DS. That thing's been put through like five times and it's still fine. A little finicky, but fine.
Also, it thawed your Empoleon? Holy crap. You're lucky it didn't burn it at that rate.
That intro sounds made me tear up ;u;
I got the chills when the nostalgic sound of the Nintendo DS booting up played. So much nostalgia
If Nintendo wants to be seen as more mature, they should have more mature games.
Like Giest?
Never played that, but yeah, more dark stuff.
They should have continued the Metroid Prime series, and added an online multiplayer. That would have helped them out. Other M didn't turn out so well...
Nintendo has plenty of mature games; gore and swearing don't make a game mature, if that is what you're getting at. Nintendo doesn't NEED R rated games to have 'mature' games.
violence ≠ maturity
I wish I had my old ds lite and dsi again ._.
I swear I have seen you before..
TheIronGAMING - GFX & Gaming! dont believe I've seen you...

120 dollars can buy you a 2DS, I'm sure of it
Rest in peace Iwata, you gave us the best of gaming and we all thank you for that.
I CANT FUCKING WAIT FOR SMASHBROS
I pre-ordered since the beginning of this year >.>
I hope there's at least something good for the year long pre-order wait XD
Im getting it at launch :D
Blaze MelonEXTRA me too!
That music.. Gives me the chills.
Love the game and the ost.
2DS is FTR
3DS XL is SPR
New 3DS is KTR
they could be based off Japanese words so it's hard to guess. (the DS Lite USG stands for Usugata which means "thin model" in Japanese)
dedpxl Citra isn't an emulator made by Nintendo for developers.
StrobeFlashLite point still stands.
I bet the guy who made dug through alot of the code to make it and saw the name somewhere.
Crash Team Racing? lol, just kidding, no idea
my 3ds broke after one 3 ft drop on concrete... they fixed it for free
Killer Meme Star after denying the screen with my forehead in frustration a few times, my DS still works. Man is that thing tough!
Keith Barbin Nintendo does that.
that sound effect at the beginning...Brings back so many memorys of all the Ds's Before the 3ds. i own 3 Ds's all together :)
Hang on, hang on- if the ds was made to survive a biiig drop onto concrete without losing functionality....
WHY DID MY ORIGINAL DS START BREAKING WHEN I DROPPED IT WITH BARELY ANY DISTANCE ONTO A CARPET?!
AngelX2000 (only resistant to concrete) >_>
You know, if it's resistant to concrete, then it should be resistant to anything softer.
it's common sense...
True ^^^
+AngelX2000 common sense? What's that?
"Dont let common sense trap you in this world"-Sanae Kochiya
I had an R4 but it broke
Nintendo handhelds are the definition of durable consoles
The guys who make Nintendo systems need to start working on body armor too. Those things are fucking tanks!
They also need to work on better names.
Who came up with NEW 3DS?!
i think that's reserved for nokia xD
Oh god I need Nintendo to see this XD
I think we should test this by putting a vest of nokias on a dummy, and a vest of N64s on another dummy, and seeing which protects from bullets, explosives, nail bombs, and crushing weight the most effectively.
Future Gohan hi
is that metroid prime! 0:14
MooCow Gaming Yes. It's Metroid Prime Hunters.
MooCow Gaming WHAT ABOUT ME?!
Blaming piracy for a huge lack of sales is so ridiculous
But it's true.
I wonder what they're gonna call the next generation handheld after the 3DS line.
4DS?
3TS. 3D with 3 screens.
HDS...
I can see it now...
"Introducing the 4DS!
Get immersed into your favorite games even more now that you can see it in 3D, hear it in surround sound, and you even feel whatever your character is feeling!"
And then Mario falls into lava
Most likely Fusion, considering Nintendo wants a handheld that works in unison with their next console.
Apparently, "New 3DS" :T
"Handle with Care on any gaming devices is a Must"
DS does seem to be built for durability, for most children are playing it sometimes do have slight accidental DS dropping on floors. Preventing screen-shattering breakage thanks to the clam-shell design. The touchscreen also need to become soft and durable because of shock absorb material that's comfortable pressing with a finger or stylus.
Funny, our DS lasted almost ten years.
+MarielTheKeybasHGirl my first ds lost function on the l and r buttons and the top screen is loose. it still works.
+Nicolas Sassine My DSi lasted 8 years and it still works
update........ THE CIRCLE PAD HAS NO ISSUES ANYMORE..... >:) now i can smash normally without worrying.....
gosh damn it I hate how my ds fucking broke
My one has a faulty d-pad and that is it
I've actually never played a DS. Kinda ashamed of that...
Shame.
SHAME!
As long as you live, you still can live the miracle that is a DS... Buy a 3ds, some used DS games, and be one of the million most happy people in the universe!
You need to experience these games man......
Me too, I feel the same way. But some day... I will get to playing those awesome games.
You're missing out, buddy! There is TONS of great classics on the DS!
5:32 Hey! In your DYKG N3DS video, you forgot that someone had his Nintendo 3DS burnt and it still works despite the volume slider being all the way down and the SD card slot jammed.
So I take it that Nintendo never won that lawsuit? I still see R4i cards around.
If they won it, than that would've stopped production of R4's, but the ones already out would still be hurting the games industry. D:
Yeah I guess I see your point.
There's still other cards which do the same so it really didn't have any major impact.
What are peoples opinions on playing emulators and roms on your computers, as opposed to playings roms on the official device?
ROMs will feel more natural when played on their native devices, but you don't have to buy a console to play it on your computer, and it's more adaptable (e.g. you can customize ROMs, add cheats without use f external devices, use controllers not designed for the system). No one is better than the other, though.
I don't like emulators at all but I would play it on the official system.
I would say thats even worse, because you didn't even buy the handheld, so nintendo got not a single penny from you :o
As long as you own the device and the game (ignore rules if there isn't a way to purchase said products and support the makers) its fine.
What those above me said . . . . Although for showing other people it can be incredible to have an emulator on a PC (or console) hooked up to a TV screen. It's amazing how much detail is (and did) go into making some of the scenery of (DS) games, when played on a large TV . . . WOW!
Why are the buttons and d-pad on the ds on the thumb nail on the wrong side of system
Has Senpai noticed me yet?
He now has. :D
Ryan Bangia YAY!!
I like your name :D
Google? I don't think they will, gurrl :c
*****
Hey! It's Jenny. c:
10 times my ass. I dropped my original fat ds on concrete once and the top screen completely broke off.
CrystalJadeOrb I dropped mine once whilst closed and the screen broke at the hinges. It's only held together by the connecting wires and cables.
I always thought the original DS was the flimsiest console I've seen, especially since it's the only one I've ever broken.
linkno1 yeah, mine was closed as well
I remembered as a kid, I punched my DS and the top screen portion got separated from the hinges.
The opening sound effect tho.
Too much nostalgia.
Is Ubisoft or DYKG Right?
According to Ubisoft, Far Cry 4 is the first video game to be played on everest. (Or, will be, I dunno if that's quite happened yet.) According to DYKG, or it's sources more like, Madden was.
SOMEONE HELP
Also, if NTR on DS carts means Nitro, what does LNA - CTR mean on 3DS carts?
This comment has to do with absolutely nothing in the video.
FryBloxStudios Nor did yours. Or this one, for that matter. See what you've done?
this video just states that the DS made it up the mountain and that the hikers enjoyed playing Madden, not that it was the first video game to be played on Everest :)
Dominique Margarita Man, you're cute! x
Fuckin hell why do people post "first"
***** Kids these days? The "first" trend is probably as old as youtube itself.
***** *Underage fucks*
***** Have no respect, common sense or exercise.
Which means they are no longer human. But robots online.
Because if no comments have been posted yet, they say first. Also for a joke.
Eh...RUclips, get use to it
Iris should be a 3ds codename because Iris is a part of your eye
Not that I expected this, bu I was hoping at the end the "big reveal" would be that they're making a MM remake on the 3DS ...But ...Nope ;____;
I think they don't want to over saturate the market, recently we have had Ocarina of Time 3D, Wind Waker HD, Link Between Worlds, Hyrule Warriors and in 2015 Zelda U. So I'd guess to keep it annual Majora's mask will be 2016.
Its hilarious hwo i found you in the comments section and ive been subbed to you for a while lol,,,,, It's a small world after all.. Btw ILY
Why? Do you want them to keep rehashing games because of "nostalgia" or do you want them to make a new original games that could be better?
Skrubwrecker1337 It would be more than just nostalgia. It would be made to have another solid game on a handheld that has good replay ability, and allow for those who missed out on the original to play it legally and with updated visuals, etc.
holycrapjesusman Why not make a new game with solid gameplay and replayability instead of rehashing an old one? A game gets boring after the 3rd time.
R4...........NINTENDO IM SORRY!!!
This entire music track in the background makes me happy.
They didn't do a good job with making the DS hard to break, my original one fell from a small bedside table and hit carpet and the bottom screen broke.
GG nintendo, GG.
Arno Dorian Wow, did it still work?
Arno Dorian oh, that's good
UmbreonTheNerevarine my old DS fell out of my car onto concrete many times and it had merely a few tiny scratches
captainrex717 Strange.
My screen broke from hitting carpet...
I guess they made it concrete resistant only.
Shorts master Aiden Neally No, it was the actual system I should of worded that better
The screen was fine, the insides broke making a weird double 3d without glasses and sometimes unreadable blur
Who on earth buys a DS to play Madden??
I didn't even know there was a Madden game for the DS
Why do sport games even exist??
WhiteGlovesGaming Because people buy them.
***** They're on a mountain, what sport could they play?
CoWinkKeyDinkInc Isn't mountain climbing a sport?
Madden 05-08 were released on the DS. Madden NFL Football was released on the 3DS, but that's where it ended.
Mario 64 is the best Mario and game on the DS next to pokemon black and white
#NDSbetterThanVita
NDS>PSP>PSVita
0zbrian 3DS>NDS>PSVita>PSP
AviatorPichu i agree
AviatorPichu hellz yeah
The DS is my least favourite Nintendo system...
It is a good system and very strong with RPGs but...
It is very lacking in a lot of genres that I really like... Like arcade-style racing games, Shmups, Beat 'em ups, Tournament fighters so on and so forth... Instead we got touch-based minigames, puzzles and a few decent platformers...
In my honest opinion the GBA was a FAR superior system when it comes to the games...
man i see you around pretty often
markasscop Arev Maybe it's because we watch the same channels... And I usually comment on lots of stuff...
Ruko Michiharu yeah, thats pretty much why
Dynamic Samurai It doesn't stop there... The only shmup I found on the DS was nanostray and it was the worst shmup I have ever played! And what is worse is that it was made by the same people who made the jaw-dropping iridion 2 on the GBA! (which is far superior to it in every single way btw)
And then, the closest thing to an arcade-style racer on the DS was Asphalt, and it's good for a few minutes, and then it becomes boring...
Ah, the DS start up sounds. it hasn't been *that* long ago yet it already sounds very nostalgic
God, I hated it when one my L + R buttons were no longer functioning >.<
And even after it got repared:D
_3 Months later_ "Whoops! Just dropped my Ds!:D Oh whats that? The L button is dead?...
Not again you STUPID SH-!
But still :D
There were some memorable games:)... only playable with touchscreen.... meh
the zelda games, new super mario bros., sonic classic collection, and guitar hero make up my life right now
