We have been trying out various heavy duty bike racks this summer, and found the Kuat Piston SR to be the easiest to set up and use. It can handle heavy e bikes and fat bikes (90lbs full suspension e fatbike - QuietKat Ibex, in our case).
Plus, it looks very nice and is incredbily simple to use. We used it for several hundred miles on dirt roads and bumpy conditions and it handled it with ease.

Have this rack and adapter on its way right now - wanted something super stable that I didn't have to watch wobbling around in my rear view mirror. This was one of the only reviews I have seen that actually talks about the hitch mount for the roof rack - it's a shame I didn't see this review first!
Its a great rack. I have the same one. Only con is it does not fold up.
kuats are really nice but it's a shame it cannot support modern fat tire e-bikes that weigh 80 to 90lbs without a battery. newer fat tire e-bikes can be rated up to 52v, 60 to 70 volts and are heavier. long range folding e-bikes can be nearing 100lbs without the battery.
again, i love the design style of kuat's product line over the years but their weight capacity has always been lacking.
this is why i have to opt for other brands/manufacturers.
Its been a few months now... I'm debating doing same as you for asingle bike. Currently using the kuat base with a 1up rack stolen from our 4 bike. Give this a go or stick with tried and true ugly 1up

I really like this set up. It is what I need for me and my fat bike. Looks streamlined and is easy to use.
Too bad it's only good for 67 lb. Most reasonable ebikes are at least 70 lb. If you're using it for a 90 lb bike, I won't drive behind you. 😂
