I like how she came in and didn’t automatically throw out who her grandmother was…not until they asked.
You’re pretty naive, eh?
@SHarrell530 you realize that those auditions arent live and they have time to edit and add stuff..
You realize that they specifically recruit many (if not most) of the people they show in front of the judges, right? Those people don't have to go through the normal process and skip straight to the judge. This really isn't the show for the true average joe anymore. It's super manufactured. @@chrissmith6862
@@chrissmith6862The person is not talking about THIS audition only, they're speaking facts in general. To be selected for auditions you gotta submit your whole identity info, answer forms with questions about your personal and professional life, active career, contacts, interests and intentions (by being on the show). This audition in front of the judges to go live is not the first one also, they went through tape/video submissions first, email/forms submissions and producers first listen/auditions/interview selections before! Summarizing it all, *"the show is scripted and they knew it waaay before!".* They just throw the news carefully for viewers to sympathize more and don't pull the "nepobaby privilege" card at her. There, a better explanation for you.

She has her grandmother's kindness, her talent and her smile. I Know Loretta Lynn is so proud.
And her humility. ❤
@@RoyalMasterpiecewho humiliated her
@@anjyel777 🤦🏻♀️ That’s not what humility means
R u serious? @@anjyel777
Well said!!! 👍🏼👍🏼
She's a doll. So innocent. I hope the world doesnt change her.
They tell her to shout who she is, but she doesn't have to. Loretta lynn never shouted, but the whole world knows who she is. And it's that politeness and personality she passed down to her granddaughter she doesn't need to change she just needs to embrace her gift!
The only shouting Mrs Loretta ever needed to do, she did with her music. I met her once when I was a kid. She was the guest judge at the California state fair, and I was in a 4H competition. She was the nicest, kindest woman. She was like everyone's grandma, and she instantly put you at ease.
God Bless Emmy. I hope she makes it all the way, and gets some of her own 'big shoes' to fill.
@jcgjcg
Shouting has nothing to do with it. It's about confidence in herself and who she is. It's about not thinking she has to live up to her grandmother's legacy and to have the confidence and strength to forge her own legacy. They weren't asking her to change anything. They were challenging her to embrace who she is and her own identity rather than to be trying to chase something and someone that she will never be and should never become. She isn't Loretta Lynn. She is Emmy Russell.
It's also about the fact that both the Music Industry and the listeners of said music have both changed so much since Loretta Lynn broke into the Industry. Loretta Lynn didn't have to shout, but that doesn't mean Emmy Russell doesn't have to shout. The Industry now is much more ruthless and much less caring than back then. If you're not confident in who you are and what you are, the Industry will chew you up and spit you out, molding you into something completely unrecognizable, existing only to exploit your talent to make them money. And they WILL exploit the fact that she's Loretta Lynn's Granddaughter to do it. These judges know this better than anybody else, especially Lionel Richie who has seen the Multi-Generational Evolution of the Music Industry.
And the listeners. In the Age of The Internet, you know damn well that comparisons will be made between Emmy and Loretta. You know damn well the question will always linger if she can "live up to the legacy." In short, in the Age of The Internet, The Shadow of Loretta Lynn will be thrust upon her whether she wants it to or not. These judges aren't telling her to shout to change who she is. They are showing her that she doesn't need to be afraid nor does she need to feel like she has to fill Loretta Lynn's shoes. They are trying to build Emmy up so that the inevitable thrust of Loretta Lynn's Shadow by both the Music Industry and the Music Listeners can't and won't ever change her. THAT is why they are insisting she asserts who she is. What they are doing ISN'T trying to change her, but rather prepare her for what is to come and to prevent everyone ELSE from forcing her to change by reinforcing who she already IS and getting her to realize that she doesn't need to try to live up to her Grandmother her Mother or her Aunt because she will already do that in spades by believing in herself, owning her own identity, and just by being Emmy.
@ForeverDegenerate I am not going to get into a big debate but the only way she can build confidence is being herself and excepting that. Changing for Hollywood and Big record labels is why so many people burn out and overdose or become perpetual users
@@jcgjcg3844 Which, if you actually read what I wrote, is EXACTLY what the judges were advocating for is EXACTLY the reason they wanted her to declare who she was. To avoid, exactly, the situation you just described.
You don't seem to understand why they said to shout her name. They did it because she is her own person. Did you not here what Emmy said when she came out and talked? Listen again.
Loretta is looking down on Emmy with pure pride and joy.
The Bible actually says the dead lie in rest, the dead know nothing. The dead get resurrected at the second coming of Jesus Christ.
@@romandaigle455Oh knock it off, bro, omg
Wow she looks like her. She’s also humble like her and probably every female relative before her. May she find her own path to greatness
When she smiles, she looks just like her grandmother.
Yes..her cousin Tayla Lynn is the spitting image of Ms. Lynn and her twin daughters Peggy and Patsy. Tayla is in picture with me
Def. Got Ms. Loretta's eyes
@marydenton5475 all of her grandchildren have those eyes. I think her mom and her aunt look like my friend tayla. You can see the resemblance. With Emmy, she is still young but I think she favors her dad more. She Def wears her heart on her sleeve and writes from personal experience and that is the legacy that Ms. Lynn wanted to pass on to her children and grandchildren. I mean this woman and her husband did not know anything about the music business and look what she has created for her family and fans/friends...they made it up as they went a long with it and not once did she nor her husband change...well maybe the drinking part slowed down from her hubby. You could tell where she stood. If you tell her no, she went ahead and it. Lol..Tayla is the same way. Gosh...I'm sorry I just rambling
How can you not love her? She is so sweet, humble, and gifted. Her grandma would be so proud of her. I think we all are. I wish her all the success in the world.
She was so sweet and humble. Her grandma isnt just a country singer. She is THE country singer.
What a stunning voice and humility. Look forward to continuing to see her growth on the show.
She has a beautiful voice. My wife and I were staying at the ranch the day she passed on. That was a big shot to the heart I tell ya
Oh I just got the chills when I read this. Goodness.
EMMY passed!??
@martiseelye6443 no not at all. It was Ms. Lynn that passed.
@joddaley6510 I was in shock when she passed away. I never pictured that in my mind. She was a special lady. The person in the pic with me as my profile here on youtube is of Tayla Lynn. Another one of Ms. Lynn's grandchildren. She and Mr. Twitty's grandson has a duo called Twitty & Lynn. They go on tour all over the country to perform their hits and to tell their stories. Ms. Lynn really instilled in them how important the fans are. I am blessed that I can call Tay my friend. I did not know who she was when I first followed her. I found her when her mom (Tay's mom) passed away. I did not put two and two together for like 6 months.
@@martiseelye6443no Loretta Lynn passed
Humble, talented she does not want to come in on her grandmother's coattails - this is a real star
This girl is a great songwriter with a great voice. She wrote a song called “Memaw’s Guitar” that is amazing!💙💙💙
YAAAASSSSSSS! Love that song that was featured in a LL documentary 10 years back. Sent shivers down my spine. I hope she gets to record it someday.
She is adorable. I think she’ll grow tremendously under your care.
The judges saw what she could do and understood what she needs to do to truly live up to her potential. I love how they gave words of encouragement.
My mother had a blowout when I was about 10 or 11 when it was over 100 degrees outside, and her spare was bad. Loretta Lynn stopped and helped us and a couple of the men on her bus paid to replace the tire, because my mother didn’t have much money with her at that time. Loretta kept us on her bus in the air conditioning while they were taking care of my mother’s van. Tbh, idk how long we would’ve been out in the heat if they didn’t stop. We may have been out there for a few hours in the heat, waiting for my dad to arrive, once we were able to get to a payphone to call him to get to us. I remember Loretta being so sweet and wanting to make sure that my younger brothers and I were ok, since we were just kids, but she also insisted that my mom have something to drink, since we had been out in the heat for a little while.
The talent is there, she is genuine, humble and has obviously been raised in a family with fine values. Once the confidence kicks in from positive experiences, Emmy will be able to soar.
I just hope Hollywood doesn’t ruin her like they ruin everybody else Taylor Swift, the singer country music a minute ago now look, she’s a pop singer
WOW!! This just hits you right in the chest! Wishing this young lady all of the that this life has to offer!!🙂
Loretta Lynn was one of the most beautiful women in the world. I hope her and Dew are resting peacefully in Heaven. Patsy looks a lot like her mama.
Dear Emmy, I love your voice! Beautiful! 💙 You cried..I cried. Fly high, sweetie, you will make it, just like your grandma. ❤🇮🇩
The fact that she just casually said her grandma was The Loretta Lynn like it was no big deal got me 😳😳
She’s young. Even if she’s aware that her grandmother is known, she probably has no real understanding of the impact worldwide. She’s just a grandma to her.
They did right by her to stand in her own shoes 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Bless her ❤
Omg...I love her....she got me in tears...that song hits home...Emme u got it ...
A gamble singing an original song but same here, totally had me 😂
It hit home with me also. Hugs
I had to scroll through the comments. I was wondering if I were the only one in tears.
So humble! Beautiful audition!
Oof that made me cry. My daughter had an ED and has recovered but it’s always a bit of a shadow to anyone who’s ever experienced it. I felt that song. She’s a sweet, genuine young woman with a beautiful voice.
This made me cry 😭 and it is with happiness at seeing her try for this. Beautiful voice, beautiful soul.
I love the honesty and vulnerability -it takes a lot of courage!
Yes, there is a RUclips video going around and it looks like they were doing like a class or workshop and she could barely get thru this song. Broke my heart
The very best concert I ever attended was Loretta Lynn. My grandmother and I went to see her. She was so tickled to see Loretta in concert. It's a memory I will carry for the rest of my life.
So happy she's going to Hollywood. Praying all the pressures don't get too much! 🙏 Such a sweet young lady!!
OMG, she made me cry. So much beautiful emotion in her song. I sing and am very critical. She broke through for me. You go, Emmy! ❤
Loretta Lynn was my first country singer I ever fell in love with,I was 7yrs old and was given her album from someone that had passed away,I listened to that album everyday and that’s when I became a country bumpkin in the beach cities,My mom would ask where did you come from? Lol She didn’t ever listen to country music and I just loved it my whole life,It’s funny because I was brought up on rock and roll all my friends and family,I did love all that as well but country music is my heart music.I sure wish I could sing lol I do in my car or in the shower or at concerts!!❤
You may be amazing and not even know it !
My daddy got me to liking her music. Drove my mom nuts. Lol
What a kind and beautiful soul. She was raised the right way. God bless her.
I was coming down the stairs from the library on my base in Germany, when Loretta Lynn was coming in the door to the rec center on the bottom floor. I couldn’t get off the stairs for the crowd and she walked right by me so close I could have run my fingers through her hair. She was a living legend. It’s great to see the talent continues in the bloodline.
I'm glad she got to share that with the world
This song packed a punch. After the last line I was sitting there stunned. It really hit home. She has such a gift! Please continue to sing, just like you are. You will be doing great, you got this!
Good voice! She sure made her grandma proud. ❤ wish Loretta was still here but she has the best view from heaven.
She was/is with you all the way ❤
Wow she was Amazing and that look that Katy gave Luke and so Happy they send her to Hollywood Wishing her the Best in Hollywood 💞🙌
You go girl, Memaw is watching over you.
You got this.
Her story and everything else aside, what a great song that was.
She's got her Grandma's smile. Go get 'em Emmie!😍😉🎵🎶
Omg… those lyrics hit me right in the FEELS!!😭😭
Strong strong words keep safe lovely girl keep strong ...be you ....this has hut home more than i care to admit as a 60 year old woman who has struggled with eating disorders all of my life .....
This young woman deserves this so much she’s got big shoes to fill but she’s more into doing her own thing
Yes, Emmy has her own style while Tayla Lynn and Tre Twitty (Conway Twitty's grandson) goes on tours and sing their songs and tell stories. Super special. They don't try to be like them and Ms. Lynn let them sing at the ranch for the 4th of July. I think she even helped pick out the songs. If you like this check out "Blue in My Eyes" such a wonderful song that Tayla wrote for Ms. Lynn but it also became a tribute to her mom, who passed away suddenly. Gosh I can go on and on. Sorry.
I like her just the way she is.
Don’t let “them” change you Emmy 💞🙏💞
Loretta Lynn is my favorite female singer in the whole world. I hope Emmy becomes just like her grandma.
I hope Emmy Russell, from Nashville, Tennessee, becomes a household name in her own right.
She's incredible ❤
She had me tears. So beautiful. Her voice is so emotional and expressive.
If Emmy wins American idol or not ,she has a beautiful voice. I believe she will make it as a Singer and songwriter. 🎵 🎶 🎵 🎶 🎵
She needed to do this and everything the judges said is so true . IMO She is Just how her grandmother seen her Sweet Beautiful and talented.
She may get the talent from her Grandmother But the Voice is all her and the feeling that come out in her voice from with in .
She is precious, love her!
Wow. Goose bumps and tears. Love her
What a beautiful soul. Mema is beaming all the way and so proud. What a beautiful young lady.
Great voice, can’t wait to hear more. 🧜🏽♀️
Dropping that her Grandmother is a country Music ICON
I loved the judges faces when she told them. Lol..I understand though why she didn't say it up front. She is just like, oh you know out on the road with my grandmother ni big deal. Lol. That was so precious.
Emmie why am I crying !!!!!! So beautiful
I'll never forget meeting Loretta Lynn at the Gatineau Clog a very long time ago. Best celebrity that I have ever met. Always have been a fan and always will be. Now looking forward to hearing her grand daughter sing more.
What a beautiful voice. Brought a tear.
Wow. Hope you go far Emmy. Believe in yourself and don't compare yourself to Grandma.
She’s got a beautiful voice
Just listen baby…was my dad’s voice to me when Loretta Lynn came on. He LOVED her, as do I.
I see her and I can see so much of her meemaw. She is beautiful, voice of an angel, Emmy your a powerhouse❤
She is precious! Love her voice!
Wow ... I'm at loss for words , that song really hit home and sung so beautifully
The elegance and kindness of her grandmother but the gift and grace is all her own. This video really made me smile and I enjoyed listening to her song and hope to hear more of her music. Well Done 😊.
Wow, she is so talented and so sweet and shy. Loretta was such a domineering force to be reckoned with. This sweet little thing is so tender. It is an interesting contrast.
She's amazing.
Aawww, wow, yea, you can tell she's getting emotional even singing, and so beautiful just like Loretta!!!! Amazing!!!!!!
She's such a great young lady! Loretta lynn passed on her love to all of her family and friends.
Her genuine humility is refreshing.
God she is perfect!
Awe she so precious & talented
Everything about her is beautiful and so is her song ❤
I cried like a baby. Her voice! 😢❤
I'm Loretta Lynn's Grand daughter is how most of us would introduce ourselves if we were asked.

Emmy congratulations I know your grandma would be very proud of you. I can't wait to see what kind of music you create along your new journey I hope you win.
Love her humility. She’s got the talent for sure.
That song, wow, chills!
I just love her voice, presence and who she is.
Wow! Talented and humble sweet young lady!
She has her own gift! I hope she never looses her roots!
Beautiful voice. Grandma would definitely be proud.
Refreshing honesty and truth. Beautiful 🌿
She seems like an honest down to earth person, I like her voice
Her voice is absolutely beautiful and haunting. I had tears
I sooooo Hope that she makes a Name for Herself, She could be as Special as her Grandmother, but in her own right 💛
I think she will go far, I love her grandma I listen to her sing all my life and if she just do it her way she will be on the road like Loretta was. She was scare starting out but she got over it and you can to. So go get them Girl.❤

What a lovely woman. She has a beautiful voice , I wish her well.
I’m in tears …. This is amazing
I had to do my research. Emmy Lynn sang on her grandmothers stage when she was 11. Her voice was beautiful back then too when she sand If I die young. She's very talented and looks very humble. Beautiful young lady.
Her lyrics made me tear up.❤
Beautiful honesty & modesty. 🌿
OMG THAT GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS. 😢 LOVE IT.😍
Love her
What a BEAUTIFUL voice.
