House Rarely Noticed Blooper Hugh Laurie Laughs

  • This is a House M.D. blooper. Hugh Laurie laughs at the end after he says that he has run out of insults to call the fat man. I had no tripod available so, it's a little shaky.
I DO NOT OWN HOUSE M.D. or have any affiliation with either FOX, NBC, USA or any other network that could take down my account.

I must agree. it's noticeable. His voice is different near the end. It's a genuine laugh, and not a usual House sarcastic sneer. House wouldn't have found it that funny. It's definitely improv here. I love it. Which episode is this?

I agree. In 6 years this is the only time I've seen him break character.
It's not that House doesn't smile. It's that Hugh Laurie has completely different facial expressions than House does. Look at the cane breaking (Safe) or eating and laughing with Wilson (Damned If You Do and Saviors.) Those are Greg House smiles.
In this clip it was a Hugh Laurie smile and I've always thought they should have edited it out.

Hugh not only changes his accent, his walk, his speech pattern, his body language, & facial expressions, but even lowers the pitch of his natural speaking voice for House. It's highly unlikely he would allow himself to grin or laugh unintentionally & have it printed.

This was a scene in the official episode. Everyone who watches the show will have seen it, it's not like it's just a couple frames. It's more than just the American accent (which is hard to perfect the way he has done). He is a star because of how multi talented and good of an actor he is. Specifically for this show because of how well he nailed playing Gregory House.

@Jackiesparrow22 I doubt it. Hugh is very much a perfectionist in all he does, & would want to retake if he felt for a second that his real persona had peeped through. Every facial expression & vocal intonation you see is exactly what he intended. Everything else is for the outtakes. Nothing would would make him more anxious than to feel he'd let down his colleagues. He has old school English humility in that respect.
