I had really vivid nightmares as a kid. A lot of the time they seemed like normal stories or occurances I had expirienced but all of the sudden, noise would cut out, or my mind would linger on a disturbing image for a while. That's why I found this one to be the most unsettling. When I first saw it I swear it was like I've had the dream before. when they lingered on the graves, it haunted me.

Oh shit, I had the exact same type of nighmares! Some random boring stories about the people I know and then all of the sudden everything gets creepy and stops on an image. The moment that he discovers the skeleton of his girlfriend gives a very similar vibe that the one I remember from those disturbing nightmares.

Details you might have missed: -After Cadavre looks in the first grave and sees the fucked up skeleton, the moon is still smiling and the music is still playing, even though Cadavre is obviously shaken up. -When Cadaver is looking in the second grave, you can see the moon looking in too -Whatever creature was in there was alive despite the cobwebs -Only after Cadavre sees this creature does the music stop and the moon take on a grim expression -After Cadavre sees the creature, the moon moves closer, as it is now in front of the trees (confirmed to be intentional) -When Cadavre lays down and dies, the shot of the moon moving over him is *inside* the cave. Look at the background... It's not the sky, it's the cave interior. Meaning the moon is in there with him. -After the moon moves over him, Cadavres body takes on a much more realistic appearance -At the end slide, the clown is facing the other way, it's mouth is open much wider, and it's eyes move to look at you. My Theory: Cadavre wasn't meant to see that creature in the second grave. The first grave contains someone who also saw the creature (as evidenced by it's deformed appearance). The Moon, for some reason, becomes very upset when Cadavre sees it and kills him. I believe the creature in the second grave to be of the same race as the creature seen in "You are on the fastest available route". It's connected somehow to the moon.
Also the creature in the grave's body looks like the surface of the Moon in "Skywatching". Personal theory is that the Moon is a massive "parent" of these creatures, either always has been or grew inside it. The Moon is watching him and is displeased when cadavre finds the creature because it wants their existence to remain hidden until "the event". As shown in other videos the creatures have the ability to manipulate minds and technology so the Moon creature makes cadavre go down into the cave and die to make sure it's secret remains hidden.

It's meant to symbolize it though. The light being the "front lawn", he was face up just before he died, and his feet are probably as close together as he can be in his exhausted state. It is a thinly veiled victory position.
As the reply above me said, the “victory position” is really just “look up at the moon as a corpse.” The moon was over him and he was in a position that was able to see the moon. His feet were straight, basically as together that a cartoon skeleton can do.

It really isn't for children. It's a fucking nightmare cartoon, like those ones from the 30's featuring symbolism showing a black guy being tortured by !KKK.
As someone who is big on metaphor's I find this kind of sad, my take on this is that; Cadavre was trying to find love or some significant other, [his friend, Moon happy with him], finding an unperfect expectation, and kept going. Cadavre, finding another grave, looks down again, [so does Moon, also curious to see if Cadavre will find good results] but yet again, Cadavre was left running. [even Moon, watching from behind seems concerned for him] until he found one grave that was maybe promising, the unseeable end yielding good or bad results (he wouldn't know unless he went down) hopes low, or maybe too far to redeem, Cadavre continued, finding another grave, empty. He either falls down accidentally and accepts it or jumps down voluntarily in depressive/suicidal thoughts (most likely option 2) and the moon looking over to see his further decrepit body decayed (even though he's a skeleton...)

I like the idea that this is an animation's studio's way of subliminally warning children about the moon somehow. Maybe the government publicly tries to keep information surrounding the creature suppressed and difficult to access - sort of like other taboo topics that animators might broach. They have a very powerful platform in that children actively want to hear what they have to say. From their perspective it might very well be sensible to say, "the moon is not actually friendly, don't piss it off going snooping, underground spaces cannot protect you, this is a matter of life or death." Kinda like YMCA but for a horrible eldritch abomination.
I wonder if this is part of a shared universe. Not only does the skeleton seem to die upon looking at the moon(like what seems to happen in Weather Service), but the way the skeleton was laying down was similar to the method people were told to lay down in before the government military would come to kill its citizens(contingency) I think I’m looking into it a bit too much on that second reference, but the moon does seem to have a similar demeanor in the two episodes that had them.
As a pretty weird aside, the tunnels Cadavre were stumbling around in share an eerie similarity to the tunnels Wadsworth were seeing in Broodhollow, shortly before seeing the ghost of Cadavre.
Not Todd Howard Chronologically, judging from the Styling of Local 58, I would place Contingency somewhere in the 1970s, Show for children in the 1980s, and both Weather report and Fastest Route in the 90s. I propose that, Something happened with the moon in the 70s prompting the airing of the contingency reel however this didn’t amount to anything so to quell panic, they cut off the contingency reel with the apology card, then in the 80s something happened with the moon again and was effecting tv broadcasts, causing a kids show to be corrupted and aired at the wrong time, then in the 90s the happenings with the moon began effecting technology in a more severe way, causing gps systems to lead people towards monsters (who are possibly from or related to the moon), this was severe enough to launch a weather warning advising people not to look at the moon, this was corrupted by either the moon itself, or by someone affected by the moon, attempting to “infect” others. In the last scene of weather report we can hear screams and panic, implying that all of these happenings have caused large scale chaos. EDIT: The date marker in Fastest route places that episode in the 2000s. Since both Fastest route and Weather report share a logo style, I would say that Weather report also takes place in the 2000s.
Okay normally I hate trying to be that pretentious guy reading into vague works of art, but to me this is literally a "Show For Children", as in, the thing every child has to learn about: death. First time you hear about it, you think, 00:50 "maybe it's just like another life? maybe I'll see friendly faces again!" but then 1:01 you get your first look at it, maybe just on the news or a fake death in a movie, but it's not fantasy anymore, it's startling and totally empty. Then 1:27 maybe you experience it firsthand now, with a pet. And now you learn it's not just chilling, it's absolutely cruel. And finally 1:55 you do have to think about your own, one way or another.
Minor detail that I just noticed: the clown's eyes at the end is looking toward you, compared to the clown at the beginning where he was just looking to the left. And if you look REALLY closely, you'll see that his eyes start to FOLLOW you too. Now that's some freaky deaky shit

Not only is this a "children's show" playing at 4:15 am (what child do you know is awake to watch TV?) but also the fact the moon seems to be involved in killing everyone including the skullman in the animation. Also, at the end, he appears to be in the same "victory pose" that was described in the Contingency video.
The moon is literally getting off to this poor guy's pain as he tries to find a hot girlfriend. What a total jerk, he should learn to put himself in other people's shoes for once.
If you also look at the part where he's laying down and looking up at the tunnel, you can clearly make out the wall of the tunnel. But then in the second shot, the moon seems to come from behind the edge but overlaps the wall of the tunnel.
and at 0:40 you can see a tree going in front of the moon, which means the one killing people isn't the real moon because the one after he looked into the second grave went in front of a tree meaning that its closer than it looks

I had really vivid nightmares as a kid. A lot of the time they seemed like normal stories or occurances I had expirienced but all of the sudden, noise would cut out, or my mind would linger on a disturbing image for a while. That's why I found this one to be the most unsettling. When I first saw it I swear it was like I've had the dream before. when they lingered on the graves, it haunted me.
Ruby Laurin I know exactly what you are talking about. The images in this remind me of some of the ones in scary stories to tell in the dark, whenever I read that as a kid I would have nightmares like yours. Really made this video a masterpiece

Oh shit, I had the exact same type of nighmares! Some random boring stories about the people I know and then all of the sudden everything gets creepy and stops on an image. The moment that he discovers the skeleton of his girlfriend gives a very similar vibe that the one I remember from those disturbing nightmares.

Details you might have missed:
-After Cadavre looks in the first grave and sees the fucked up skeleton, the moon is still smiling and the music is still playing, even though Cadavre is obviously shaken up.
-When Cadaver is looking in the second grave, you can see the moon looking in too
-Whatever creature was in there was alive despite the cobwebs
-Only after Cadavre sees this creature does the music stop and the moon take on a grim expression
-After Cadavre sees the creature, the moon moves closer, as it is now in front of the trees (confirmed to be intentional)
-When Cadavre lays down and dies, the shot of the moon moving over him is *inside* the cave. Look at the background... It's not the sky, it's the cave interior. Meaning the moon is in there with him.
-After the moon moves over him, Cadavres body takes on a much more realistic appearance
-At the end slide, the clown is facing the other way, it's mouth is open much wider, and it's eyes move to look at you.
My Theory:
Cadavre wasn't meant to see that creature in the second grave. The first grave contains someone who also saw the creature (as evidenced by it's deformed appearance). The Moon, for some reason, becomes very upset when Cadavre sees it and kills him.
I believe the creature in the second grave to be of the same race as the creature seen in "You are on the fastest available route". It's connected somehow to the moon.
There's also a sudden shot of the figure in the first grave in the transition after Cadavre runs fron the second grave @ 1:34
Also the creature in the grave's body looks like the surface of the Moon in "Skywatching". Personal theory is that the Moon is a massive "parent" of these creatures, either always has been or grew inside it. The Moon is watching him and is displeased when cadavre finds the creature because it wants their existence to remain hidden until "the event". As shown in other videos the creatures have the ability to manipulate minds and technology so the Moon creature makes cadavre go down into the cave and die to make sure it's secret remains hidden.
Also, during the part where the moon is able to be seen in front of the trees, it takes on a different expression than the smile

As someone who is big on metaphor's I find this kind of sad, my take on this is that;
Cadavre was trying to find love or some significant other, [his friend, Moon happy with him], finding an unperfect expectation, and kept going. Cadavre, finding another grave, looks down again, [so does Moon, also curious to see if Cadavre will find good results] but yet again, Cadavre was left running. [even Moon, watching from behind seems concerned for him] until he found one grave that was maybe promising, the unseeable end yielding good or bad results (he wouldn't know unless he went down) hopes low, or maybe too far to redeem, Cadavre continued, finding another grave, empty. He either falls down accidentally and accepts it or jumps down voluntarily in depressive/suicidal thoughts (most likely option 2) and the moon looking over to see his further decrepit body decayed (even though he's a skeleton...)

I like the idea that this is an animation's studio's way of subliminally warning children about the moon somehow. Maybe the government publicly tries to keep information surrounding the creature suppressed and difficult to access - sort of like other taboo topics that animators might broach. They have a very powerful platform in that children actively want to hear what they have to say. From their perspective it might very well be sensible to say, "the moon is not actually friendly, don't piss it off going snooping, underground spaces cannot protect you, this is a matter of life or death."
Kinda like YMCA but for a horrible eldritch abomination.

I wonder if this is part of a shared universe. Not only does the skeleton seem to die upon looking at the moon(like what seems to happen in Weather Service), but the way the skeleton was laying down was similar to the method people were told to lay down in before the government military would come to kill its citizens(contingency) I think I’m looking into it a bit too much on that second reference, but the moon does seem to have a similar demeanor in the two episodes that had them.
As a pretty weird aside, the tunnels Cadavre were stumbling around in share an eerie similarity to the tunnels Wadsworth were seeing in Broodhollow, shortly before seeing the ghost of Cadavre.
Not Todd Howard Chronologically, judging from the Styling of Local 58, I would place Contingency somewhere in the 1970s, Show for children in the 1980s, and both Weather report and Fastest Route in the 90s. I propose that, Something happened with the moon in the 70s prompting the airing of the contingency reel however this didn’t amount to anything so to quell panic, they cut off the contingency reel with the apology card, then in the 80s something happened with the moon again and was effecting tv broadcasts, causing a kids show to be corrupted and aired at the wrong time, then in the 90s the happenings with the moon began effecting technology in a more severe way, causing gps systems to lead people towards monsters (who are possibly from or related to the moon), this was severe enough to launch a weather warning advising people not to look at the moon, this was corrupted by either the moon itself, or by someone affected by the moon, attempting to “infect” others. In the last scene of weather report we can hear screams and panic, implying that all of these happenings have caused large scale chaos.
EDIT: The date marker in Fastest route places that episode in the 2000s. Since both Fastest route and Weather report share a logo style, I would say that Weather report also takes place in the 2000s.

Okay normally I hate trying to be that pretentious guy reading into vague works of art, but to me this is literally a "Show For Children", as in, the thing every child has to learn about: death. First time you hear about it, you think, 00:50 "maybe it's just like another life? maybe I'll see friendly faces again!" but then 1:01 you get your first look at it, maybe just on the news or a fake death in a movie, but it's not fantasy anymore, it's startling and totally empty. Then 1:27 maybe you experience it firsthand now, with a pet. And now you learn it's not just chilling, it's absolutely cruel. And finally 1:55 you do have to think about your own, one way or another.

@@Handhandme It wasn't meant to. A lot of people don't realize that this video is meant to connect all the other Local58 videos together. Not only is this a "children's show" playing at 4:15 am (what child do you know is awake to watch TV?) but also the fact the moon seems to be involved in killing everyone including the skullman in the animation. Also, at the end, he appears to be in the same "victory pose" that was described in the Contingency video.
The moon is literally getting off to this poor guy's pain as he tries to find a hot girlfriend.

If you also look at the part where he's laying down and looking up at the tunnel, you can clearly make out the wall of the tunnel. But then in the second shot, the moon seems to come from behind the edge but overlaps the wall of the tunnel.
and at 0:40 you can see a tree going in front of the moon, which means the one killing people isn't the real moon because the one after he looked into the second grave went in front of a tree meaning that its closer than it looks
