I. Miss. Scotland! Never made it to the Isle of Arran, and how gorgeous it is! Couple of things Shaun: your choice of music for this piece is beautiful, peaceful and lulls you along while watching (well done); your drone footage sets your vlogs apart from others and only gets better and better. The heather colors in Autumn prove to be spectacular and thank you for touching on things this magnificent spot has to offer (AND the Rabbie Tours link). Thanks, Shaun...
Hello, Shaun. I loved this video! Everything was/is so beautiful: the countryside, both castles, and the quick tour of the distillery was interesting. While in Scotland, I sampled some great whiskeys in the highlands, though we did not go to any distilleries (we were on a dead run for 20 days & couldn't squeeze in the whiskey trail unfortunately; next time for sure!). My brother-in-law decided to hand feed a highland cow (a handful of grain of some kind); YIKES, he was massively slimed 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 And, that was an interesting fact about highland cattle being black originally. I fell in Love with the Isle of Arran! These travel vids you are doing in Scotland are GREAT! Something that interests me are the underground tunnels/caverns beneath the city of Edinburgh; have you thought about doing that? I saw it on the National Geographic Channel here in the States; it was fascinating & full of history...just an idea 😎 Keep bringing your fantastic videos to us! Many Thanks, Lindsay, Sacramento, California. Cheers! 🇺🇸
I love these vlogs so much. Makes me so excited to come to Scotland. I’m going for the first time in September 2019. Coming from the mountains of NC. You bet my mom and I will be sporting Fraser’s ridge shirts for our trip. 🙂🦄🏴
I used to live in Ardrossan and my Step dad worked on the ferry to Arran. We could see Arran from our house as it was on the beach. The best years of my childhood were living in Scotland and I haven't been home in over 15 years. I'm half Scottish half English and currently live in England. Thanks for doing your videos it brings a piece of home to me ❤️ can't wait to come back
Hey Shaun! I am happy that you made a video about Arran. I am planning on going back to Scotland, and couldn't decide the 2d place to go, until I bumped in to Rabbie's (did a tour with them before, from Inverness) Isle of Arran tour. And now found your video precisely on that. Now I decided. Arran it is. It is so beautiful!!! You rock Shaun! And so does Scotland!
Absolutely stunning!!! And the drone footage really puts everything into perspective. Putting Arran on my TO DO list immediately as the isle looks gorgeous. I’m so glad you introduced us to Rabbie’s Tours. I will definitely give them a try when I’m in Scotland! PS-I had to go online and find a World Peace Tartan scarf after you wore it in one of your vlogs last fall (the dogging vlog???). eBay had a vendor from Scotland with very reasonable prices. World Peace looks terrific on you! Thank you for the tranquil Thursday vlog on Arran! Stay safe my friend! 🏴❤️
Also Shaun, did you know that Highland cows were one of the breeds used to create Texas Longhorn cattle here in the US?!? Love your videos, man. Keep up the good work.
Isle of Arran a definite must see when I come to Scotland. Such stunning drone footage and so PICTURESQUE! Another great vlog Shaun! Thanks for taking us all on your journeys. Blessings always my friend. 💜
Thank you Shaun. I love the country and the drone footage was fantastic. It makes me realize just how bad life must have been there, in the past, that made my ancestors leave such a beautiful place to come to the US.
Looks like you took the old bridge back to Edinburgh. Our tour guide did as well and told us why he was the only vehicle, only after we safely crossed :-O lol
I was so Lucky to grow up in the highlands and walk the Heather covered hills, walk home along the beach from school three miles each day opposite the Black Isle, pick berries for jam in the woods and climb trees! We grew up fearless and healthy. Great video again Shaun. Just a detail, Jamies motto is ' Je suis prest' , mine is ' Tout Prest' !
Shaun, I really loved your visuals , camera work and editing on this video.....Your camera skills show the countryside so beautifully, It's just breath taking. Thanks...I'll watch this one again. Outstanding.
Hi Shaun 👋 Wow Scotland is so beautiful 🏴 and so are the people. Can't wait to go back maybe next year 🤞Love Ashley MacIsaac he's a Canadian boy 🇨🇦. Mull of Kintyre is such a beautiful song 🎶 Inveraray took me back I was there in 2016. Highland cows are amazing animals. Maybe one day I will see you in Scotland😊
I love coos! We have a small fold. Fun fact, the black coos (kyloe) come from the Outer Hebrides islands and are smaller. The ginger coos come from the highlands and are a bit bigger.
I love going to castles and towers like that and imagining what it was like in its heyday, with people walking around and furnishings and basically what daily life was like.
Ah your just across the water from me I live in a small town called Kilwinning in north Ayrshire you should go to the Largs Viking museum then head down the duel carriage way to Kilwinning and go to see the Abbie where there was a dig a few years ago trying to find a golden goblet in tunnels that lead to eglinton castle. Plus apparently the declaration of Arbroath was written by the Kilwinning monks. It’s feels weird to know my small town has so much history but anyway enjoy your time there. Here is a link to info on eglinton castle it’s pretty interesting if you use the satellite map in the website you can see what remains of the mansion/castle but unfortunately we don’t have a distillery down here sorry!
Fantastic video Shaun. I have visited Arran a few times now but have only ventured north mainly wild camping. The standing stones look awesome at Machrie. I really need to get there. I love the distillery also and I hear what you are saying about single malts and you are absolutely correct, it is purely a taste and preference thing, but the one I would always recommend and friends/family all seem to like is Balvennie Doublewood 12 year old. The drone footage is awesome my friend. Excellent video, keep them coming. NIck
This was awesome. My ex-father in law raised Highland cattle. I’ll have to share this with him! Once I pull myself together, I want to travel again. Scotland is first on my list, thanks to the inspiration of Shaun. Okay, and Sam. But he and I share a birthday!
Scotland never disappoints! a whiskey distillery, Arran, standing stones & coos! (I got a picture of a black baby coo at Clava Cairns in April '18) - is that a World Peace tartan? 🤔 What a great trip you had, thanks for taking us with you 😉💙
Once again you have captured the beauty of Scotland with your drone footage and camera. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I would love to hear some of the stories you heard. Thank you!
Your best one so far. I did a Jack Daniels Distillery tour and taste test. They have one at 135 proof straight from the barrel that is super. Unfortunately the samples are small.
Very interesting particularly about highland cows , have you been tip ISLE OF Lewis and particularly Callanish stones . Years ago I went to ISLE of Arran and also saw Isle of GIGGA. AND GARDEN there , great video . Thanks .
That brought back some memories, it's been years since I was there. I remember visiting the distillery when it opened and a year later and I have a bottle of the first run of whisky, it's clear and not advised to be drank but it's a nice keepsake. Lochranza castle looked good, there used to be a ruined cottage in the bushes to the right of it which gave great pictures... did you notice if the old church is still an artists B&B? Loved the Machrie stones, got some great pictures there too.
Wow! I had a lovely time watching your video! So wish I could come to Scotland! Loved the Standing Stones, the castle ruins, (what was the name of the castle ruins?) And so much more! Too bad we couldn't go inside the castle with you! I love your vlogs! Thank you!
You should do a tour of herrin's wall! Sorry if i missed spelled that! I'm pretty positive the second wall is in Scotland but the First wall maybe in England. I love geography but it's not my greatest subject lol :)
WHEN you come back to Texas, I would be willing to take you on a distillery tour of the Texas Hill Country. Some do whisky, most do vodkas and moonshine made from cactus. I will be the designated driver, you can be the designated drunk. P.S. one of my Gunn clansmen and his wife raise the ginger Hieland coos up north of Dallas, btw.
@@carriestreeter5313 I don't know about any of the whisky distilleries as I always am driving between Kerrville and Temple. HOWEVER the Hill Country Distillery in Comfort,TX does moonshine from cactus. Their coffee and Orange liquers are outstanding! And just like our wineries, they are all improving. But true, NOTHING can beat a good Scottish single malt. This is why my dear friends, Frank and Lynne Leslie of Kempner, TX, and Clans Leslie and Wallace, have instituted Single Malt Saturday Night. Hunt me down in two weeks at the Clan Gunn Society of NorthAmerica tent in Salado and we can maybe get Frank to give us a wee dram on November 10th! Slainte' mhath! Besides, what do you have against Shiner Bock and the other brews out of the Spoetzel brewery in Shiner,TX ?
@1807retthom no, not really. The majority of the Texas Clan Gunn members live in Dallas and Odessa, Texas. I am one of the Lonesome Polecats here in the Hill Country.
I has a single malt that was my favorite years ago that was aged in Sherry casks, might be called Glenroth. My father was a Scot & passed 2 years ago aged 91 here in Florida. he had a scotch every night just 1 drank like a gentleman . One day i'll get back into Scotch whisky but now it's 2 pints of light beer a day fro me.
Yay, thanks for visiting. I stay across from Arran in Ayrshire. We see it on many a clear day. It is a beautiful, beautiful island. Known as Scotland in Miniature. The kids from here take a weeks trip in P7 over there and I hear cloud base is the highlight of their stay. The views from atop Goat Fell is stunning. In fact a guy on facebook took amazing photographs. Check out his photographs on facebook.com/PribbeckPhotography/ This island is absolutely stunning. The views over to this island are stunning. There is a bit of an optical illusion going on in parts of Ayrshire. So whilst you have Arran in the background, it looks incredibly close depending on where you stand. For instance, Ardrossan, parts of that area and taking a photograph or even just standing there looking at it, it looks like you could just walk down the road and get onto Arran pretty quickly. When you stand at Saltcoats south beach however, it looks incredibly far away. Also, legends say that King Robert the Bruce, hid in a cave on Arran when he was fleeing the English soldiers. Other legends say, the island is actually Avalon where King Arthur went to. Whether it's true or not, is not for me to say. One thing is certain, we do love a good story in Scotland and are really good at telling stories. Paddy's milestone, another story, it was taken from the peaks of Arran by a giant and thrown into the water. Far fetched stories are a thing in Scotland, just look at nessie and haggis hunting LOL . xx
