Good question. The KX2 can throttle back in hot weather. Having a black case doesn't help. So, I ran it at 5w and used a small 40w amp. The amp did get warm, but seemed to be happy enough.
Excellent. Salty Walt K4OGO ( Coastal Waves & Wires) would have just used a single radial into the sea. If your there for a little longer, give it a go.
Oh, I know what Walt does. 😊 The beach sloped away steeply to constantly crashing waves and people were walking on the beach. Also, it was burning hot 🌞🌞🌞 so I opted for shade. I had brought an antenna that I planned to dip in the ocean, but just couldn't find a place to use it. I did alright though! Cheers, Fraser MM0EFI/ 8P9BW
Serious question…. Is there a different phonetic alphabet in Italy? I have genuinely never heard the word “India” in any QSOs with an Italian station. They always use “Italy”. Are there different versions of the alphabet for different countries?
Some people use Germany or Guatemala instead of Golf and Florida instead of foxtrot etc. However, the phonetic alphabet is written in stone but I personally think Golf is one of the hardest ones to hear over the radio. Maybe a wee bit of nationalism there. You should try Equador Ireland 5 India Mexico Brazil 😉
@@theradiorover I know what you mean, but for Italy specifically I honestly have never heard the world India used… I was genuinely wondering if thats what’s taught there.. You’ll be “Bonnie” for bravo “haggis” for hotel and “Aye” for Alpha before ya know it! 😂
What a lovely place to operate radio from!! Jealous. Cheers and thanks for sharing the experience!!
Thanks! It was lovely in Barbados 🇧🇧. Back in cold Scotland now and will be heading up a snowy Ben Macdui tomorrow!
The best view I'd seen! 👍
Thank you 😊
Crikey, are you ok with all of that heat? Cracking vid, thanks Fraser.
I suffer for my art 🤣
I was hiding in the shade or the ocean for most of that holiday!
Nice background there! And nice job on your first time on a contest. 73!
HaHa! Me in a contest. That was funny when everyone started asking me for numbers!
A excellent but simple antenna. Cheers.
Aren't ouu supposed to be working? 😅
@@theradiorover non smoking break. :-)
@excossack good Lad 🤣
@@theradiorover this might be an option for Arthurs Seat next month
@excossack have you emailed them?
Excellent thank you. I was wondering what radio you were using and how it copes with the heat?

Only kidding. The Irish are the only race more oppressed than the Scots. 🏴🇮🇪
