Hi! I have seen your videos too!! Before I started my project there has been a lot of research on the web! Thanks a lot!! I wish you manage to get the machines you want for your projects soon! And lets hope this situation clears out soon and with as low impact on humanity as possible. Have a nice day!
Definitely one of the best videos for a homemade spear gun I've found. I'm trying to build my own to occupy some time during the pandemic but it's hard to find half decent how to's haha.
I have watched a lot of videos on RUclips. Also what helped me a lot was to search and study a lot of photos of other spearguns. I spent a lot of time trying to understand what every builder did with his build and filtered what was good and what was bad (in my opinion). The process depends a lot on how you want to build the speargun, meaning if you build it with manual tools or with CNC because I have to refine the design for the cnc while with manual tools you just work on the actual piece till you make it the way you want. I have cut a lot of test pieces for the handle to get to a point it feels comfortable. This was the 2nd speargun I have built. I still make modifications to the handle. Today did a new test piece and I have already made some changes to the design to cut a new test piece in the following days. This next test piece that I am gonna cut will possibly be the final one!!!
A very nice speargun, l am impressed. I have one question if you allow me please: how to do to make the speargun stable in water when you dropped it ??? Thank you.
There are pockets on the underside of the speargun where I can install Lead. When I dive the speargun for the first time, I carry small lead weights with rope atrached and I hang them on the speargun and measure how much weight is needed to balance the gun, and then just install that weight into the pockets. If you see in the video, when I load the 2 bands under the gun the pocket cover is visible. There is one more pocket under the grip so I can balance front to back balance. ;-)
Thanks! Well this is not a simple answer. The machine once the wood is ready (glued and faced) takes around 7-8 hours to finish the main body and the grip. But there is a lot of time spent on setting up the machine, setting up the tools, machining other parts of the gun like the rods of the head, the hooks for the bands etc. that add up to the time needed to complete the build. Then you have the assembly of the parts and the finish with teak oil which also takes a considerable amount of time.
@@msacontrocorrente I prefer Teak Oil over varnish or epoxy coats mainly because of the easiness of maintaining the wood. With Teak Oil you can apply a new coat every ~6 months and it will be like new. Or if you scratch the gun on a dive you can just apply some teak oil on that area with a rug after the dive and it will be ready to go. With the other finishing techniques if you scratch the coat it is a mess to re coat the wood.
@@msacontrocorrente Yes. It seals the gun good. I even pour teak oil into the screw holes before I screw them in so it seals the wood in the wholes too. You just have to re apply a coat of teak oil every ~6 months. You can research on google about teak oil finish on spearguns.

Hi Adrian! Im Cristobal from Chile, i love your video, i have been trying to design and carve a speargun with a cnc machine here but it has been a massive failure every time i try, is there any chance you could send the files to make one like yours here? Greetings from Chile!
Hi. If you check my latest videos you will see the design has evolved a lot. The setup I am currently using is 1x18 and 2x14 with 7.5mm shaft. I have used up to 1x19 and 2x17.5 bands with great results.
Hi Andrian. Amazing speargun it looks like you put a lot of thought and time in design. Do you think you will be selling spearguns after you finish testing? And do you think you would be able to make travel version like riffe travel which splits in the middle?
Hi. Thank you! This is my goal. The project started over a year ago just to build my own speargun. But during this process I realized that I really enjoyed and even got addicted to speargun building! After the first speargun which was a shorter 75cm version, which gave me a lot of information after testing it, I refined the design and build the one that is on this video! Unfortunately the pandemic has put a halt to our beloved hobby and I haven't done a lot of tests with it... I had the time though to work even more on the design on my computer and improved it. So my plan is to build some more, do more tests and have the speargun at the level I want it to be and then start selling it. I feel it is pretty close though!!! Then I will create even more projects like different designs and even other stuff! The travel version you mentioned is a good idea but I do not know if I will be getting into it. Maybe I will. :-)
Hi my friend. Just saw your comment. It is not ready for sale yet. So I don't have defined a price yet. I still do some tests and refine the design. I hope I will have it ready soon.
@@Cheninator96 It is holding up fine. You just have to reapply a coat of teak oil every 6 months or so. I don't know how many coats I applied but they were a lot. The first day I applies a few coats because when it was unfinished it absorbed the first coats really fast. Then when it stopped absorbing it I started applying a coat and wet sand it with 800grit, let it sit for half an hour or so, then wipe it of and let it dry 24h. Next day again the same thing. I did it for 10 days or something like that.

Thanks. The bearings in the photos are stainless steel, but have been replaced with ceramic. I tested stainless on my previous build and now I am testing the ceramic. It seems like ceramic is the ideal bearing for this application. They need no lubrication, have no seal, are more resistant to corrosion and more resistant to scratches and wear.

@@aymenhadjsalem2064 I have modeled the speargun from scratch using Fusion 360. I don't believe you can find a cad file somewhere. You have to create it yourself. This is the hardest part of the process. 700mm of travel is short for spearguns but you can machine the stock in 2 operations for each side, by indexing and moving the stock in the X direction. ;-)
Hello, I am on the same path as you and also using fusion360. I have a lot of questions for you about the way you made your loft on the body of the speargun, because I designed mine by creating slices of the body but the result is not perfect yet. If we could exchange by mail about the process this would be very helpful.
Hi my friend. The process is not something you can learn by email. You have to keep practicing on designing and you will learn what works and what doesn't. There are a lot of ways to design this. I used T splines on this model but it can be done in other ways too. I have spent countless hours on designing stuff on fusion 360. This design alone is a project that I started designing like one and a half year ago. So just keep working and working on your designs and the more you do it the more you will improve ;-)
@@AndrianBLUE ok thank you! I'm working on mine since a long time too :) I've used T-Splines on the handle too but for the body I have in mind it's a little bit more complex. Thank you anyway for your great video, it's inspiring :)

indeed it is but there is no other way to do it at the moment on my machine. Also The 2 outter strips of wood on the initial stock are not teak. They are cheaper wood that are added for the purpose of having extra wood in order to be able to hold the stock on the machine.

Hi. The speargun is not ready for sale yet and I have not decided yet the price that will have when I will be ready to build and sell. I am still testing and refining it. Thank you for your interest! ;-)
With this wood dimension you could not have 3 pieces. The stock width is 130cm and the actual speargun measures in its widest point, 85cm. Yes there is more wood wasted than normal but I need the extra wood on the sides so I can hold the stock down on the machine table. If I have a narrower wood stock, there is no place where I can hold it. If I had a different machine with a much longer travel on the X axis I would be able to have a narrower stock and hold it from the front and the back but that is not an option on the current machine I have.

Hi. The trigger mechanism is from Ermes. You can watch our latest videos on our channel to see how the speargun has evolved.
what kind of bearings did you used for the pulley? i mean to withstand the salt water overtime
I use ceramic bearings in the front wheels and the pulleys are the Harken 404 pulleys.
Compliments very beautiful work.
Thanks again Mario!
What CNC are you using and if it's DIY can you share the plans if there are any
Like your build!
How would you feel about customer build your design but my trigger mechanism and riffe shaft?
Hi. Unfortunately we don't build the speargun with different trigger mechanisms. The only trigger mechanism that fits is the ermes double roll wings. The design of the speargun has changed a lot since this video. You can check it in our website andrianblue.com

Hi Adrian! Im Cristobal from Chile, i love your video, i have been trying to design and carve a speargun with a cnc machine here but it has been a massive failure every time i try, is there any chance you could send the files to make one like yours here? Greetings from Chile!
What setup are you using from the diameter of bands 18 mm or 16 mm ? Thanks
Hi. If you check my latest videos you will see the design has evolved a lot. The setup I am currently using is 1x18 and 2x14 with 7.5mm shaft. I have used up to 1x19 and 2x17.5 bands with great results.
@@AndrianBLUE thanks bro just can you answer me what is the longest shooting distande.. 6 m ! From the new steup 1x19. 2x17.5

@@aymenrachem9701 You' re welcome!
Thanks for reply will wait to hear when you are ready to sell them. All the best!
@@Nagualis1313 Thank you! Have a nice day!
How much does it cost
Hi my friend. Just saw your comment. It is not ready for sale yet. So I don't have defined a price yet. I still do some tests and refine the design. I hope I will have it ready soon.
What finish did you use one the wood?
Hi. The finish is teak oil.
@@AndrianBLUE How is it holding up and how many coats did you apply?
@@Cheninator96 It is holding up fine. You just have to reapply a coat of teak oil every 6 months or so. I don't know how many coats I applied but they were a lot. The first day I applies a few coats because when it was unfinished it absorbed the first coats really fast. Then when it stopped absorbing it I started applying a coat and wet sand it with 800grit, let it sit for half an hour or so, then wipe it of and let it dry 24h. Next day again the same thing. I did it for 10 days or something like that.
Where can you buy this speargun? Thanks

Hi Adrian, could you make one to sell it to me? And where do I get those metal parts?.....let's say if I try to make a wooden one, do you have a website that sells the metal parts?
Thanks a lot! Very nice video!!!
Hi
Thanks!
The speargun is not ready for sale yet. I am still testing and refining. I hope soon it will be! As for the metal parts, the trigger mechanism is the ermes double roll. The rest of the parts like hooks and pins, are machined by me.
Me too please, let me know when it's ready for sale

What diameter and lenght of shaft do you use?
The shaft is 7mm in diameter and 130cm in length.
@@AndrianBLUE it looks like is 8mm shaft , its really long shot. What was a distance cca?
@@danijelkrivak2491 I estimated the distance around 4m, maybe a little more, from the tip of the gun. Can't say for sure though.
@@AndrianBLUE you make very nice speargun. Its simple but effective. Do you prefer soft or hard rubbers bands for invert? Reactiv or more progresive?
@@danijelkrivak2491 Thanks! I haven't tested different bands. This is my second build and i use on both of them 3x cressi g20 bands at 3.2 ratio. They seem to work great. Maybe in the future I will test different bands to have a better view of the subject!
great speargun but did u use a stainless steel bearing??
@@AndrianBLUE yeahhh even more better, i make invert roller muzzles with cnc just like it. building spearguns is so addicting even more then spearfishing itself.
@@aymenhadjsalem2064 Indeed! I am waiting for quarantine to end so I can go buy more wood and keep building more!!!
@@AndrianBLUEwhere i can find cad file like that, u encourged me to make one like you, only problem i have only 700mm on x axis.
@@aymenhadjsalem2064 I have modeled the speargun from scratch using Fusion 360. I don't believe you can find a cad file somewhere. You have to create it yourself. This is the hardest part of the process. 700mm of travel is short for spearguns but you can machine the stock in 2 operations for each side, by indexing and moving the stock in the X direction. ;-)
How can I order a 105cm one
Hi! Thank you for your interest. It is not ready for sale yet. I still do some tests and refine the design. I hope I can have it ready for sale soon!
Amazing. Would you share the 3D file that you prepared for this?

Hi. Thank you for your interest. The speargun is not ready for sale yet. I am still testing and refining it. I hope that it will soon be ready!!! Have a nice day!
That't a lot of teak leftover.
indeed it is but there is no other way to do it at the moment on my machine. Also The 2 outter strips of wood on the initial stock are not teak. They are cheaper wood that are added for the purpose of having extra wood in order to be able to hold the stock on the machine.
By the way on this video the wood is not teak but sipo. I started using teak later. You can check my last videos.

3d model for cnc please
Не могли бы вы продать файл ЧПУ, чтобы скопировать пистолет не для коммерческого использования?
Hi. The CNC design is not for sale.
Não economizou madeira, com uma maquina boa dessa daria três.
