I gloried in playing right wing for the 2nd XIV at Grammar School (Read High School). The full-on running game is so exhilarating to be part of. I was utterly demoralised when I got prompted to 1st XIV as reserve as I never got to play.
Kicking allows you to advance up field without being tackle (can only get tackled with ball in hand). However a kicked ball can also be referred to as a lose ball which makes it anyone's ball. You'll see a lot of guys will aim for 50/50 kicks to give them a chance to advance plus 50% chance to get the ball back
Hey man, I don't usually do these kinda long comments, but you seem genuinely interested and worth the effort. So I'll try to answer your questions here. Sorry for the rambling... (Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm not 100% accurate) 1:16 - The offside rule: If your team has the ball. you must be behind the player with the ball before you can continue to play. If you kick the ball, your team mates must be/get behind you before they are allowed to tackle a player. There are many other nuanced parts of this rule, but for the clip here, this should do. 2:53 - Knock on: The french player (in blue) accidentally knocked the ball forward when attempting an interception, this is a penalty. the ref can either stop play when a penalty occurs, or play advantage. advantage means that the side that won the penalty now has possession, and if the french player picks up the ball, play will be stopped. (in hindsight, he should've picked up the ball, but he probably thought play would be stopped because he kicked it after a knock on). but because he didn't pick it up, play was allowed to continue, and a try was scored. 4:20 - Forearm/Stiff Arm: Not sure exactly what part you're referring to, but there are an assortment of rules for what is legal and they keep changing, so watching old highlights can be confusing. Kinda fuzzy on the exact rules here, but... you have to use the arm that's holding the ball if you wanna use your forearm, the stiff arm has to be done with an open hand, avoiding the face and eyes when possible. 9:40 - Kicking the ball out: This ones pretty simple. if he kicks the ball, and it goes out without bouncing, the line out is where he was standing when he kicked it. If he kicks it, and it bounces before it goes out, the line out is from where it bounced. so basically he was just very accurate. and didn't give the opponents space to catch it. 11:04 - Camera cuts out at world cup quarter final -@yazeedcariem5684 left a comment about this. Extra spicy because to many, this is the moment that not just wrote, but carved Cheslin Kolbe's name into the history books.
@ rugby is famous for its stories and many players are great raconteurs... this is a fun one you might enjoy by and about a famous All Black: ruclips.net/video/z2CX5J80TjM/видео.html
I have followed rugby union for over 50 years and cannot explain the intricacies of the rules, particularly why a penalty is awarded... you need a referee or real expert for that. Also you need to remember they are constantly being updated and what is a penalty offense now may not have been 20 years ago...these many rules are stricter with the aim of making the game safer: players have to actively avoid taking each other's heads off
The ball is always LIVE, never not play the ball, unless the referee stop the game... Most stoppages comes down to a player knocking the ball on forward from his hands,,or offsides...or dangerous tackling💪...the ball holds the offside line,,the lateral..so if u put hands on the ball, u have had to enter from an onside position...
This is fun for example in the comparison between football ("soccer") and rugby.... also fun about Wade Dooley who I remember well - one of famous second-row "enforcers" (the speaker, Martin Bayfield, was another - he's 6' 10" but not quite so out-and-out violent as Dooley) : ruclips.net/video/aQaG20pD4z0/видео.html
The Video-footage tht got blurred-out is during RWC 2023 Quarter-final ( Boks won French by 1Pt) when Ramos lines-up Conversion-kick the Prt tht was blurred-out is when Cheslin Kolbe charged-dwn the kick @Poles ( I believe U did a Reaction-to Kolbe & the RWC 2023 France vs SA Quarter-final Extended-Hilights so I think U wld've seen this moment)!!!!!

@@joelchihota4994 appreciate it. It absolutely made it more fun watching and talking about doing it this way!

In 2031 you will have the Rugby World Cup in the USA. You must go and watch a game or two. Maybe do a whole series on it.

Kolbe charge down the penalty stopped it from going through the posts
He charged down a conversion attempt. You cannot charge a penalty kick.
