I've had my new GR for about 4 months and comment as follows: I bought mine in New Zealand where the spec does not include the bash plate or the tow points that come as part of the Aussie spec. I'm new to Toyota having driven Land Rovers for the past 45 years and have been really impressed with the technology, economy and simple reliability of the Hilux. It is also a very capable off-roader. Where this ute lets itself down is the internal finishes. While I accept that it is not competing with LR products, the widespread use of hard, shiny black plastic which scratches really easily is disappointing. This is after all, a working vehicle and I would have liked to have seen more durable materials. The shiny plastic around the gear shift marks so easily , it's not funny. Similarly, the hard plastic in the door cards is also prone to scratching. Toyota should really look carefully at these and use either softer or more scratch resistant materials or finishes. Overall, I give it a solid 9 out of 10.

Toyota lists the GVM at 3050kg but doesn't provide a GCM for the GR Sport - but given this new variant has the same GVM as other dual-cab 4x4 HiLux model, expect it to list a similar 5850kg GCM though your local dealer may be able to provide more info.
