I wonder why Prokofiev is still quite underated. He is among Bartok, Strawinsky, Rachmaninoff and a very few others the greatest composer of the 20th century.
I agree it's really good. Have you heard Alexander Malofeev's performance of this piece in the semi-finals at The China International Music Competition in 2019? I thought it was mind-blowing! Best wishes.
@@tcharles2466 just watched it , he is insanely technical and talented, kinda reminds me of Yuja Wang's performance of the same piece . but the thing about Dmytro's performance is that the way he puts his own dynamic to the piece makes me feel that he understood the piece even better than the insanely skilled pianists, and touches the soul on a deeper level , I'm not a musician by any means, just a personal opinion and would love to her professionals opinion about this , cheers.
@@morrisabramian2276 Thank you for your reply - and a very fair point, my friend! Like you, I'm not a professional pianist. I'd heard Prokofiev's Toccata in D Minor years ago - and had completely forgotten about it! I only 're-discovered' it after 'discovering' Alexander Malofeev on RUclips four years ago! Best wishes.
