Dude, you just stumbled upon the greatest collection of musicians ever assembled. QOTSA is the best band on the planet, and it's not up for debate. "...Like Clockwork" is another dark album. It's my favorite from them start to finish. Similar vibe to this one.
You definitely picked a good time to join the party. Josh Homme(lead vocals/guitar and the only consistent member in the band over the last 25 years) described it best when he described how “We’re all on board the Titanic, and eventually, everyone is going to hit the water.” He described himself and the band as the band aboard the Titanic.(In terms of how they took up their instruments and played as the ship sank.) if you do go on a discography deep dive, their albums “Era Vulgaris” and “Villains” are the most divisive.(“Era” is Queens at their weirdest, “Villains” because of Mark Ronson’s production style.) I’d definitely recommend going in release order just so you can see how they’ve evolved over the years.
@@TwigCity also from the songs, Carnavoyeur, Sicily and Straight Jacket Fitting is kind of the style of ...Like Clockwork (my favourite album of all time), What the Peephole say is more like Villains, made to parade, Emotion Sickness and Obscenery is most like Era Vulgaris and Paper Machete is most like Lullabies to Paralyze. But ofcourse not the exact style but it has lot of simularities
I watched this, fell asleep for a bit, dreamt I lived with the whole QOTSA band, woke up w the lyric in my head “old god, avante god, technolojesus” and I thought “ damn, Josh is such an insanely hard worker.” I mean, they prob all are, but it’s understood he’s the driving force.
The good news: this album is fantastic. Ever better News: they have other albums, which are even better. Songs For The Deaf, Rated R, Era Vulgaris, Lullabies To Paralyze, their Self Titled, Like Clockwork, Villains (which ill admit is a bit weak, but the opening track rules.), and i think thats all of their albums lmao
Man, you know music, please do more reactions gonna recommend you fucking lots of amazing stuff. As a fan I can say there are no bad albums of QOTSA, but starting with staple called songs for the deaf must be a superior choice. Stoner rock classic. Concept album of having a trip in desert. I'd even recommend watching middle 8 video about the album after listening to it, to get a grasp of concept in full scale. Loved your reaction, just pure vibes. Bless you ^^ P.S. Don't go era vulgaris before three albums before. You need to get a grasp of evolution of their music to tune to this album, for me it was worst in discog, now it's my favourite as it marks real experimentation and having fun with darkness. Like it's hard to get but genius.

You should know that this is part of a trilogy of albums.
The order of listening is:
"In Times New Roman", "Villians", "...Like Clockwork"
Enjoy.
Oh wow, I’ll listen in that order then
@@TwigCity Also, check out Them Crooked Vultures (Homme's super-group project that produced one amazing album) and Eagles of Death Metal
@@jazeenharal6013 Oh yeah I’ve heard of Them Crooked Vultures, didn’t know they were related. So many classics I just missed, lol
@@TwigCity I'm jealous, you have so much good stuff to discover lol
Wait! For real?
Do the other albums! Gotta recommend Songs for the Deaf or maybe Era Vulgaris next.
Absolutely will do Songs for the Deaf. That’s the one I always hear about!

Love how everyone has different favorite albums, tracks on albums, sides of albums. QOTSA always starting an argument even when they not in the room
