Fishing Lake Misery - Monduran Dam

Fished a 3 day Monduran trip with my mate Zack Campbell. Despite many other anglers pulling in meter plus barra we struggled. We only managed 2 barras, a result of some of the most gruelling physical and mental workouts I’ve ever had.
Unlike my last session on this dam I came home empty handed. A solid donut on my part. I threw everything from Zereks jerk baits, Jackall Squirrels, Molix Shads to Vibes. I even tried a 5inch holt prawns as well as a few combinations of large soft plastics.
Luck was never with me on this trip. I however thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. The weather was more bearable than last trip. The lake displayed some stunning mystical fogs on our 2nd day. It was mesmerising. Loved it!!
On this trip I gave Zack free reign of my boat as well as the minn kota. Never got to fish a few places I’d like to however; taking the back seat I looked on and took note. My goal wasn’t just to catch fish it was also to practise sounder reading as well as learn new areas. We travelled a fair bit on this trip, the lake was huge. Despite the areas we covered we had barely explored half of the dam.
I’m pretty confident now with my new found knowledge. I’m pretty sure my next trip up here will result in a few more barras hitting the deck
