Morbius vs Legend of the Ten Rings is an interesting case study in taking a mostly unknown character in the midst of a franchise and trying to do a ground-up family style origin story for them in a PG-13 space for a normally R rated genre, as both vampires and kung fu often are. Both had a lot of ground to cover, both are fairly short, both have a time skip after the prologue, and yet the way each handles story structure and pacing is SO different
@@Alex_Logan22 I think pg-13 is equally doable for both genres, but a very difficult proposition, and on the whole you're better off making it R. I also think it was a lot easier to do before the MPAA got super queasy about blood. 90s pg-13 is way more violent than modern pg-13

I can totally see how the watercolor effect would not be everyone's cup of tea, but honestly I totally loved it. Some combination of using abnormal senses (like the echolocation) and moving too quickly to process everything with normal precision.
Actually comic Morbius has historically fought his own bloodthirst, and Mat Smith's character is a Morbius type living vampire in the comic as well. This movie's ironically very true to the comics.
@@markz9739 Most vampires are either undead creatures or people that can still exist and have personalities and thoughts, or they are a race of creatures that don't have a body system that works the same as most living creatures. These vampires are typically magical creatures or at least somewhat demonic, and they may even identify as a separate species. The "Morbius the Living Vampire" thing is because Morbius got turned into a vampiric creature due to scientific means and mixing DNA rather than through a vampire bite or making some demonic deal that changes him completely (looking at you Dio). This makes him have several vampire powers due to the bat DNA and the bloodlust, but he still is technically a human that is still alive. If you brought in a vampire like the ones that Blade fought in his movie to the clinic to see if they were alive, even if they talked to you and everything like that, their heart, body temperature, circulatory system, and all of the other important body systems would be the same as a cadaver or corpse. Morbius on the other hand has all of his body systems working just fine, has a normal body temperature, and his fluids like blood or spit aren't just straight up poison. Morbius also doesn't have magical weaknesses like silver, garlic, or holy water because he was transformed in a scientific manner. Another interesting thing to note, due to this scientific procedure, Morbius doesn't get burned by sunlight as typical vampires do, he is just somewhat sensitive to it and his powers become somewhat weaker. This is the best way that I can explain it, but let me know if you have any other questions.

Yea that was a flaw in his logic, since blue is a common alternative blood color even in R rated movies. Plus this movie had plenty of red/black CG blood whenever they could show it, not to mention real blood bags. It wasn't anywhere near as offensive as some of the earlier X-Men movies where Wolverine would slaughter people with clean claws and zero blood/limbs.
Vulture in the MCU- I will do anything for my family including kill and steal because I love them so much Vulture in the Sonyverse- Who cares about my stupid family, vampires are more important
Right Andre, Blade deserves props for getting the MCU ball rolling but Hollywood doesn't want to do that they want to give credit to Iron Man. Nope, give credit to Blade.
Blade basically showed that superheroes could make money. It's the reason X-Men got made, and the raimi movies(which made all the money). Which spawned the mcu(which made even more of all the money) Which spawned where we are now.
I solved why Vulture goes to the Venom-verse. Clone-Venom. That little piece of Venom will definitely-probably grow into a whole Venom. A spare Venom running around the MCU creates an imbalance, and Vulture getting sucked into the Venom-verse stabilizes the imbalance. The multiverse doesn't care that he's in the wrong dimension, only that the math works out.
There's an easier outlook. Strange has no idea what the hell he's talking about, he admits his lack of multiverse knowledge to both Peter and Wanda, and was wrong about all the villains knowing Spidey's identity (Electro didn't), plus others like Gwen who knew did not come. With all the crazy rumors and cameos going on for Dr. Strange 2, practically anything goes with little in the way of rules. MCU writers have already messed up Raimi's lore so those characters would theoretically not be the same variants we grew up watching, so its not like Marvel has it all figured out either. They started strong with Loki, but stumbled with No Way Home.

I haven't seen this movie, but I have heard what the after credits scenes are and it sounds like it makes so little sense. First off, why would Vulture be teleported to this new Sonyverse after the ending of NWH. Second, how did he build his own wings? If memory serves, he did not make his previous suit, but instead The Tinkerer did as evident when he asked him if his new suit was ready near the end of Homecoming. Third, why would he instantly go to Morbius? Does he know something about the multiverse? Shouldn't his biggest priority be to get home? Please correct me if these were actually addressed in the movie, but judging by the reactions, it doesn't sound like they were.
1. I’m pretty sure this was meant to come out before nwh and they never fixed the movie unlike Marvel Studios that did actually put in the effort for some things to fix the continuity. Also Kevin Feige (the producer responsible for the MCU) had little to no involvement in this movie. No joke he’s the reason why there’s so much good continuity in the MCU! 2. Okay it’s possible he worked with the tinkerer on the wings and taught him a few things about his wings incase he ever had to make any repairs outside of contact range. But the movie never hinted of his technical knowledge or if he memorized the plans of the wings. 3. It does seem like he’d wanna get home ASAP to make sure his daughter’s okay. It’s possible given Morbius is a scientist he thinks he might be able to help him get home but I dunno.
For real. The new Vulture suit even looked like a BETTER suit. And wasn't the first one built with Chitauri tech? Was there an invasion in this universe, too? It feels like they're trying way too hard to make these two separate universes where it would've required less hand-waving to just have everything in the same connected world.
The director has basically confirmed that they made wrong assumptions about how NWH would work when making the post-credit scene, and have scrambled to try and still make it work (including this Vulture being declared the Sony-verse Vulture, not the MCU one)
My theory for why Vulture got transported but seemingly no one else did: Aside from Tony Stark, Adrian Tommes was the only person from the MCU who found out Peter was Spider-Man on his own. Everyone else was either told by someone or shown directly by seeing Peter maskless. Strange's spell might have made Adrian forget Peter, but not the evidence/actions that lead to him piecing it together, so he'd potentially remember on his own, and gets transported out of the MCU because of that. So this leaves just one question.....in the Morbius/Venom-verse, did Tony Stark's corpse get transported too?
The part that got to me was when he was on the news and in newspapers for being a murderer and still managed to show his face in public with no consequences
Great work Andre. Yes. U are correct. Just like Venom this feels like a 90's era hero film. Yes. The after credits are..(sigh). Well, I give Sony props for working hard to build their "Sonyverse". "After credits" pay offs are not their forte. It is nice to see Morbius on the big screen though and I like Jerod Leto Morbius way better than as the Joker. BUT. Great video Andre. Thanks.
Maybe vulture need a Disney plus series to tie in his character to morbius, venom and spider man
How did Vulture even Know who Morbius is? How did MCU Vulture, in this New universe, even Find Morbius at all?
“We are gonna get to another school that fit for someone like you”
Me: The X-Men?
The part that got to me was when he was on the news and in newspapers for being a murderer and still managed to show his face in public with no consequences
2:39 I see what you did there! 🤣🤣🤣💀
All thr giblets! You're the best Andre!

BLACK NERD YOUR THE BEST RUclipsR EVER
Moribius is Dolores from Encanto? I'm dying.....😂😂😂
Bro. The fact that your voice changed to serious when you started talking about the post credits…. That tells me all I need to know.
Not the gift with the 2nd name!! 🤣🎁
This was a great review. You did a good job. I didn't mind being spoiled, I'm probably not going to see this movie.
Thanks. I'm looking forward to watching your opinion of Sonic 2 buddy.
From the thumbnail you'd think Morbius sucked the blood and joy out of Andre. Still gonna check out the movie sometime.
I wouldn’t watch in theaters. My friend saw it and said it was TERRIBLE. Almost as bad as Fant4stic!
He actually found some fun from how bad it was.
Don't do it :0
@@BR-jw7pm Noo 😱 not Fan4stic!!!!! That was the worst comic book movie I have ever seen in theaters.
@@latishabuckner8231 eh,the first one isn’t that bad… it’s the 2nd one(silver surfer) that was pretty damn bad
Talk about Ice Pirates or Later Cake👍
"He's like antman for bats, he's batman" I fell off my chair
I can appreciate Michael Keaton popping up in full Beetlejuice humor
The vampire face reminded me of baghoul from that horror movie Sinster
when he dances in front of the mirror was the song "I Think We're Alone Now"?
I like how you embrace the wacky of this film. It's no masterpiece, but it could be fun. Although what happened with Adrien Toombs (sp?) is disappointing to me.
The Blade soundtrack was dope.
respect to Blade - and even the Blade sequels, too!
