In this video guitar lesson series, we are going to take an in-depth look at how to play all the chords and guitar solos in the monster hit power ballad, "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" by Poison.
This Every Rose Has It's Thorn guitar lesson will show you note-for-note all of guitarist C.C. Deville's tasteful and melodic solos for this 80's classic.
In the first video lesson I will show you all the guitar chords and chord progressions used throughout the song. Most of this is acoustic based and very simple to play, but I will also show you the electric guitar parts used during the chorus as well.
The real fun begins in the second video lesson where I will show you note-for-note how to play all three of C.C. Deville's solos!
The intro solo is very blues based with some unison bends and quick legato licks.
The main solo contains a little bit more flash. It starts with a long bend that slides into another note. After that we have some very melodic musical phrases that resolve into a fast descending legato phrase. From there he goes into a simple melody containing many bar dives.
After this section C.C. Deville caps off the solo with a fast alternate picking lick straight out of the 80's shredder scene. The hardest part of this lick is getting it started. After that initial beginning, you will then come upon a repeated pattern that is more easy to understand and get under your fingers. I suggest you practice the opening few notes by themselves first and practice the pattern by itself as well before putting them together. I will show you in the lesson where the pattern begins and how to play it.
I will then finish out the second video lesson by demonstrating how to play the outro solo.
I hope you guys enjoy learning this 80's classic!
    Carl...

Oh it's tuned down a half step! No wonder I couldn't figure out why everyone kept saying G and Cadd9 and it didn't sound right!

Thanks Carl, I love how you're always so thorough. I couldn't find out how to play that last lick before the song ends and lo and behold, you teach it!!

Can you verify the strumming pattern. Completely lost on the 3 strums you mentioned. Beginner here...please simplify a bit more if you can.

Hey bro, been a sub for quite a few years now, but just realized i never really took the time to thank you! And for some reason, i don't have the "like and comment" reflex if i'm not laughing to tears, or watching some kind of jaw dropping feat. And to tell the truth, my guitars had been pretty much parked for the last +/- 10 years for many life reasons taking time and getting in the way!! Had no internet when i first started so i used to mostly learn just by ear. Tried to pick it back up a few time over the years, discovered your channel on one of those time, but my lack of calluses and discovering i had to relearn so much of what i had learned incorrectly from ear(old muscle memory still in the way).. just kept discouraging me!! But it's over the last year, when i started to discover what fingerstyle really is, and some amazing artists on here who create their own mind blowing arrangement that overlay voice parts(notes) or other instruments on top of the main rifts , that really started to give me back the bug !! Decided to take it slowly this time and got back into it a few months ago, but learning fingerstyle this time(was like starting from scratch for my right hand, being used to a pick...), also squeazing a bit of music theory here and there in between!!! Dust in the wind is the first song i've learned from beginning to end since, all thanks to you and your amazing channel!!! I do use tabs, but i often tend to pick individual notes one finger at a time at first(left hand), not always seeing the chords certain groups is using... i also sometime struggle with timing between certain notes(even with guitar pro tabs), but thanks to your channel and your amazing teaching skills, i can keep pushing forward without struggling too much and getting annoyed at certain parts, and would have otherwise held me back quite a while on some of my favorite parts of songs i learned/am learning to play!!! You won't see me comment often, but for all your hard work and how good of a teacher you are, you do deserve a MASSIVE thank you!!!🤗 Am also trying to take the habit of liking your videos as i go since it's the least that i should do!!! 😅🤘🤘🤘

Every rose has its thorn - but this tutorial doesn't has a single disadvantage. It's very understandable and extremely informative. Especially concerning such details as e.g. the "knock" on the guitar body or the E 3 bend right before the E flat chord. Great work Carl, thanks for sharing your skills with beginners or intermediates like me!

I want you to teach some doors stuff but I'm losing hope! maybe some more Zeppelin? I know you're not a robot who needs to follow our instruction and I know the simple songs are fun to play and all but the more in depth stuff, or the "harder" stuff is always more fun to learn! I think a challenge is good. thanks for reading if you do Carl, you're a great guy

Leah Sero I'm almost getting the feeling that Carl is not a fan of the Doors. It is pretty weird that he has zero Doors songs in his lesson catalog with them being such a classic band.
But Robby Krieger almost never used a guitar pick...so maybe that complicates the lessons a bit.
Zeppelin's the Rain Song would be an interesting lesson with its length and EADADE tuning. Beautiful song and fun to play.

First lesson to get this in Eb unlike the lazy bum teachers that can't be arsed to detune and get the key right from the get go which changes the entire color of the song. Not to mention the vocal then is all wrong. Great lesson. Should have come here first!

It’s tuned down to Eb... the entire guitar is tuned down a half-step

    • @truckerkevthepaidtourist
      @truckerkevthepaidtourist Месяц назад

you turn the whole guitar down a half step every single string Jimmy.
That's why it's called E flat tuning 1/2 step below E standard. Otherwise if you tune the first in the 6th it would be called a drop d tuning son
