- While new updates can be exciting, updating Logic Pro should not be taken lightly! Here are my recommendations before you update Logic Pro.

I have an intel imac had to update the OS to Ventura. Then check regular logic worked then backed that up then updated to logic 11. The only things NOT there are chromaglow and stem split they will only appear/work on M1-M3 silicon Macs only as far as I know. As a rule I never update until I have checked out everything online first!!! I actually forgot to check RME interface compatible with Ventura so held my breath on first start up! Relief was immense when that worked! Logic 11 though all fine and super stable (so far) and love the new session players! Thanks Chris solid advice on video.

Super helpful video. I am currently deciding whether to upgrade my Mac OS in order to get the LP update. The compatibilty info that data base provides will probably provide the answer, at least in the short term. This video has everything else. First rate. Thanks so much.

This update recently kind of boned me. I saw the videos of "Hey this is out! But backup your old version first" and I went to go do that, but by the time I saw it, it was too late. App Store had already updated it. While the update is fairly smooth, it did come and destroyed my drum tracks from Logic drummer on one of my pre-production tracks. Drums were all going to be redone anyways, but it set me back. Algorithm must have changed or something.

Good solid advice. One caveat to old versions of Logic - there is a circumstance where you can download an earlier version of Logic from the App Store. I have an old MacBook Core 2 Duo, and when I updated it to the latest OS it could run (I tricked it into running OS 10.11) and connected to the App Store, I saw the latest version of Logic like normal. Knowing I didn't have the hardware to run it, I clicked on Download anyway. App store said something like "You don't have the hardware/OS to run this. Would you like to download the last version of Logic that will work with your machine?" And I said yes, and it downloaded Logic 10.3.3. And it works perfect. So I have Logic 10.3 running on a 2009 MacBook with 8 GB RAM.
I should point out that I bought Logic Pro via the App Store years ago, and that's the same account I used.
Also, to clarify for people who read too quickly, the video is correct - you cannot normally download older versions of Logic so you need a Time Machine backup, but you should already have that. People who never back up will eventually learn the hard way.
How can I open a project earlier than mjne
I have an off question; how or what is the best way to keep the Mac Studio from sliding around on the surface it’s sitting on? I currently have it sitting on a cloth type mouse pad, but everything I’ve tried doesn’t really grip it very well. Any suggestions?
My question is why are you trying to set it on any sort of pad? Just set it down on the desk itself
@@lucasjcooper,I’ve tried that but it just slides around. It’s a glass desk and doesn’t grip very well. I’ve tried on other types of surfaces with the same results. Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue and if so, if hey’s have suggestions to keep it from sliding around on the desk.

Only update at end of production cycle . Same with major OS updates.

in 11 years, I've seen but two updates that screwed things up. 7.5 was one of them.
Dragging the time bar to a measure division or subdivision? Fogettaboutit. It ended up either 96 ticks late or 213 ticks early. It would not go where it was supposed to.
I had a really terrible, really stupid Waves plug that I used once and never went back to, but 7.5 kept 'failing and recovering', complaining about a plugin I haven't used for years (no, I won't update the plug). I deleted what I could find of that plugin, but 7.5 continued to have this problem. Hopefully there is a better way to delete it.
This is all on a M1 13" MBP running both Monterey and the latest Ventura.
So I went back to 7.4. Logic 'Pro' isn't that pro, and 7.5 can go do something anatomically impossible to itself.

I've watched this twice and I'm still no closer to getting the update
So... I'm on M1 Monterey, and I just went back to 10.7.4 form the new update... Cause, somehow, it just MESS UP my controller assignments... Half of my mapping wasn't working.
I was at a party tonight, where i was playing a set with live loop, and hopefully did a little check an hour before the gig! My god...i hopefully zipped the previous version of Logic, and had a safe form the preference "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" (that did NOT work in this new version!). Mind your head... But, thanks for this video, you are doing great job!
