My husband watched this and the relay was the culprit:-)
Thank you so much for the information, saved us hundreds!!!
Nice fix!!! Yes usually they would thro on ac compressor and it still wouldn’t work … great job!
You are a true genius in your craft! I tapped on the blower motor like you said because my front AC was not blowing and boom! it came right on😊 so at least i know what it is in the future when it goes out. Please keep up the great work helping us people. Thank you!👍🏻👍🏻
Nice job glad u was able to try this and discover the issue !!
did you end up replacing ur blower motor? my front blower just stopped working and the back still does
I am having the same issue lol

Thanks for this man. Pretty straightforward, quick and easy, gave me courage to DIY 😉. Helped me a lot. Saved me money too. This worked for me. highlander awd v6 2012.
Nice job!!!
Thanks for the video.
I was wondering how to access the hidden relays! Thanks!
I did not even need to do this repair and still think your video is excellent thank you for posting
Yup it will help lot of people years to come
I replaced all that all those fuses and the AC controller unit from the inside the dashboard won't turn on work at all and everything has been replaced to do with the AC system
Great video and really helped me get a new AC relay fuse in my 2010 Highlander, but no dice: still getting warm air. Hoping it's just low freon and not bad compressor or AC servo motor (already replaced in 2020 and trust me folks, you want to avoid that if you can as it costs around $900 at a dealer to replace and most of that is labor pulling the entire dashboard apart so the mechanics can get at it).
Thanks!
Yes check Freon pressure and scan the car for codes also the pressure switch is located on the low pressure line on passenger side
If you are getting air but it’s warm it cannot be the relay right? I’m trying to do whatever again to avoid the high mechanics cost of a compressor or condensor. I have refilled the refrigerant it was low. I have a 2018 so do you think the cause of the warm air is from a leak? Is that something I can easily fix?
Make sure your coolant is at proper level.
Nice video. I hope I never have to need to know it, but if I do, fixing it will be thanks to you and your video.
DO you have any idea where I might find the 30 Amp Fuse labeled as #21. It is the Rear Hatch Fuse.
I found a diagram for the fuses for my 2017 Highlander Hybrid, but the 3 boxes and the one under the drivers' side dash is not the same box.
Fuses I always buy from dealer they not that expensive after markets I lost all trust one time car went on fire fuse never blew like it supposed to car has short fuse ket blowing I gave some extras to customer bad idea so yes lease get it original
@@RBTheMechanic Thank you for your rapid reply. Instead of wanting to know where to purchase the 30 Amp fuse or Fuse 21, I am trying to locate where in the vehicle it is. I have checked all known fuse holder locations, but can not locate the correct one.
@@cci-online this fuse is for what component ur looking for I can search on my computer but u will need to remind me Saturday morning

Hey RB - Man this is a great vid. I have a the same 2013 Toyo Highlander. When I start the car it takes about a minute for the air controls to activate. Discovered that their is no air coming from the floor vents for the 2nd row. The ac and heat work in front and third row top and floor vents. Only second row floor not working. Do you know if their is a fuse for the 2nd row floor vents?
I would check to see if ur controls work try chasing air to diffrent spot the flap doors might not be working
which fuse connects to the air blowers in the rear of the highlander, on the ceiling. Those have stopped blowing in my car, above where the kids sit. I think I need to swap out that fuse, because all the blowers and display modules / controls (e.g., the speed of the air) work. Air blows from the ground vent, not the ceiling vent
I don’t have fuse listing but u can check on the listing of fuse on cover it will tell u which each fuse is for
Great video and details. We have the same truck here and the blower motor is not working. No power at harness either
Check fuses relay and try full high speed
@@RBTheMechanic thanks for the reply. We went back and traced it to the multi fuse link that says 50ml heater on the panel. Thx for the help
Before hand the alternator is only @12.8 at idle then 12.3 with accessories on( rear defrost, headlights, flasher) I know that’s low but how can we determines if it’s 100/130/145 amp?

Hi, great video.I have a highlander 2011 the ac just blows warm air. The check engine light is not on but I'm getting b1479 code with the obd2 scanner.
Code is for flow sensor on ac compressor could be faulty
@@RBTheMechanic Thank you! I'm gonna check it out 🙂

Sure will thank you for feed back I got new camera it’s got stabilization!!!
Hey RB where can i get en extra relay? I have 2013 highlander and AC is not cold gonna try this
Autozone or pep boys pull out the old one and take it to store with u or dealer parts department
@@RBTheMechanic thanks Rb
Thank you! Would you be able to give advise (video would be great) on how to get access to the relay area on a 2022 Highlander? I tried my best, but can't lift up the relay cover. Asked a toyota mechanic - he also doesn't have any idea. I need to get access to the starter relay.
I would have to look in to that
@@RBTheMechanic thanks a lot! Looking for a while for this... hope you will have a brilliant idea.
@@RBTheMechanic Hi RB. Wondering if you had a chance to look into this? Thank you!

@@RBTheMechanic Can't lift a plastic.. tried to pry here and there.. but no luck.. Is there a way I can email you the photo?
Found the relay but couldn’t replace it because camera work triggered epileptic fit
Would this be the same with 2008 Toyota Highlander? When I run he AC hot it is coming out. I had the wheel works check my Ac and they recharge the Freon and said it run for 5 mins then it’s back to no AC again. They recommend to bring it back to Toyota to have a fully check and they think it’s the blend door issue.
Well you might want to check ur relay and fuse before anything but 2008 is diffrent but u can see the mg clutch relay listing on cover
@@RBTheMechanic ok. I’ll watch that. Thank you for your reply.
My 2013 Highlander base cools sometimes and then stops and starts again in a cycle. I have had the gas checked and filters changed but that isn’t the issue, what could be the issue?
I would swap out the relay just incase other wise possability ac compressor or they ac service is not correct did they use ac machine?
Apparently 2016 and later Highlanders no longer have ac compressor clutches, so this fine video no longer applies.
It dose have systym work similarly so it dose apply
And it has MG clutch relay
Thanks for the video. Question,my 2012 highlander, when I turn on the heat, the A/C kicks on,thus, I can’t get a maximum heat out of it. Why the A/C kicks on,it’s not suppose to do that. Do you know what the cause of that? Thanks
Not sure what u mean ac kick on did u try turning the temp to hot max hot and try turning ac button off
@@RBTheMechanic I turn the temperature knob to maximum hot, and turn the heat on to low. But the A/C clutch also engages. The A/C switch is not even turned on but the A/C clutch engages.
@@mckoylach1622 what about defrost setting? Ac will engage if u got defrost setting suck as air to windshield would make it happne
@@RBTheMechanic yes I have the selection knob on defrost. But there’s hot air blowing out too. Is the system designed like that ? If it is, it’s my first encounter.
@@mckoylach1622 yes defrost allows ac to come on that’s the only way for it to clear the fog
So the front AC just doesn't activate. Doesnt turn on and nothing blows out. The back however works fine. Should I give this a go and check the relay and fuses or just bring it in?
If there is no air u need to check fuse and relay for blower motor
I lost keys to my dhighlander. I had new keys made then had old keys (which were found) reprogrammed. Also battery was extremely hot even though car had not been running for a few days. Replaced battery. Now when car is shut off and turned back on to drive the clock has change and AC temp. setting changes. I reset clock and temperature and it will be ok for a few days. Then after shutting car off after driving and starting it again the clock and AC temp has changed again. I spoke to mechanic who put in new battery, he said that wouldn't be the problem. Brought the car to the tech who reprogrammed the key but we couldn't recreate the problem. Any suggestions besides maybe aliens.
Check for loose battery terminals
My A.C on the wear does not working, only on the front. People on the back suffer. What can I do?
Check to see if rear blower motor is working and vent doors if ur car has separate blower that’s what u would need to check
I have an 05 highlander its blowing hot and warm air and only blows cold for little and i recharged it and the refrigerant is fine could it be the fuses
How did u Recharge it ? U can check fuse and change relay as start
I have a 15 xle v6 and it doesn’t have a ac relay in that same spot and also the ac fuse box inside is different layout so I’m stuck rn
Did u scan the car hvac moduel
Could the relay be bad even if the AC light does come on inside the car. No change in temperature, air stays exact same temperature
Could be or compressor but check the basics relay and fuse
Hello good stuff here but my highlander is blowing cold from both center vents above radio 45° degrees but both passenger and drivers side vent (Closet to Window) is blowing at 65° degrees so i believe i have a blend door issue there is a accutator under drivers side dashboard when i switch the buttons around from floor to defrost and back to front it does not move the gears dont move are they supposed to move or is it something else ? Thanks for the help
Defiantly check the bled door motor
I will today but I found one in drivers side and there is another in passenger side from what I read lol and the passenger side looks like hell the drivers side looks like it's connected to where there a small condenser? This started after I left my lights on and had to get a jump start Thanks for the help
What if it’s not there, ? I have one that doesn’t have a relay in neither of those places.
Did u open up the lower half of box?
My battery went out when I came back from a trip. It was sitting for 7 days with a light on. When I replaced battery, my AC was blowing but not cooling. What the AC relay be the issue?
It can be it’s first thing u should check or replace
My 2011 highlander AC control unit does not turn on anymore. The relay and fuse were replaced. What else could cause this problem?
Check to see if it got ac pressure?
Yes it has pressure. The actual until doesn’t even turn on anymore.
the rear HVac fan stopped working.. how do i find the fuse or relay that powers the Hvac?
It would say rear on fuses or u check them all and relay
@@RBTheMechanic thanks for the reply, yea i checked all fuses this morning.. Time to check the relays tomorrow. I guess take out a relay and swap it with another to find the bad one? 😅
I have a 2015 base model highlander. when I turn the AC knob on, no air comes through, its just dead. The lights come on the panel, but no air. Is this the fix for that?
That’s related to ur blower motor so the fan under behind the glove box check fuse and relay for blower motor and put it on high speed max speed and do this I’m about to send u a video
Try this by putting the key on and max high speed on the fan ruclips.net/video/b6tl5RgRzxU/видео.html
Need help . 2016 Toyota Highlander replaced blower motor , fuses are good a/c still won’t kick in. What may be wrong? Can it be the blower motor resistor? If so I’ve searched all over for the resistor can’t seem to locate .
Did u try high max speed?
Yes fully on won’t blow at all. Tried watching other RUclips videos and googled where the resistor is located. No info on the 2016 I can find

Did u put it on high speed sometimes blower motor will get jammed on and off will cause it to click back on also it will work on high speed but not low speeds
I put it on high speed and I haven’t tried low speed, how do I avoid it getting stuck again? Possible motor resistor going out?
@@rgomez6933 u can’t avoid it next time just go down there if it dun run band on it hopefully it comes on if it dose come on that eliminates resistor issue
Thanks brother I appreciate the help great and helpful video also.
Stated my car again no blower motor power, I banged on it , and it turned on, do you recommend changing the blower motor for smooth operation in the future??
Is this for A/C not working at all? Or for A/C blowing hot air?
This is basic check up at not working t all could be any possibility
@@RBTheMechanicmy A/C is blowing hot air. But the compressor is good and it has coolant in it with no leaks. That's why I asking that question, maybe it could be a fuse. Like their issue with this car, just wondering.
Where is the Toyota Higtlander high beam relay located ?
Not sure u would need to check it out but prolly under hood if it got one
Thanks 😊
No problem 😊
My schedule stopped working after I had my highlander jumped. I took it to an ac repair and they are saying that they have to take my dash apart to replace a part that cost $600. Would replacing the fuses help?
Wait what’s going on ac blowing hot? Did u check Freon pressure ? U can always check fuse and swap relay anyways give me more information
@@RBTheMechanic I’m picking up my car tomorrow. I will get the diagnostics report and will be able to give you more information.
@@elizabethdurocher929 ok let me know
@@RBTheMechanic the blend air door did not operate so they scanned it and found a code b1441 air mix servo circuit malfunction the scanner shows it’s sending the message but identafix tells them it’s probably a bad amplifier as well. They want to replace the blend actuator and amplifier.
@@elizabethdurocher929 ok
Well before they try anything crazy on expensive repairs I would turn the blend door motor manually and see if it goes me air also are other aviators working are u able to select air up down face defrost? If yes then ur amp is not issue
My 2013 Highlander only get cold at night but not in the day. I don't think its the actual air conditioner, but I hear a click and then it shuts down. I pray its not my compressor. #Highlander 2013 Limited Edition
Well it can be ac compressor which is not fully compressing and bring enough pressure but prior to that u might want to check ur Freon pressure it might be low and do ac service with ac machine recover vaccum and recharge correct amount refrigeration
so you change the relay and the fuse inside at the same time?
Yes
That’s what my Husband did. In this order… replace relay “per this excellent video” and then replace the fuse. We didn’t do this at first. My husband re-seated the 10 amp and then everything works as it should :-)
What if the front a/c is working but the rear is not? Will this fix the problem? Rear a/c runs hot
No u have either low Freon on the rear motor or relay is bad for rear motor or it can be bad blend door motor to switch from heat to ac
@@RBTheMechanic what if the rear doesn’t have any temperature control for heat or a/c? But the front works fine… would what you replied to Melissa still help fix the issue..
