    My teacher used to teach me this in guitar school when I was seven. We used to call it “fret practice”.
    Sadly he passed away. Such a great teacher.

    Hey Jake. I just want to say a massive thanks for all the vids you make and the effort that goes into all of them. You clearly have natural talent for teaching and you’re a much better player than I am! Thanks to you though, I’m improving and learning more and more about the modes, song writing, diatonic and borrowed chords etc. and it’s just great! It’s really whetting my appetite and has given me a new buzz for music. Every video of yours I watch I learn some new theory as well as new ways to improve my technique.     It's way cool that you are able to talk about what you are doing WHILE playing what you are describing. It took me years (it seems) to be able to simply talk while playing !!!

    Fantastic lesson. Each of the 3 note patterns represent either a major or minor tonality which also corresponds to a mode in the major scale.

    you are amazing, I have been learning alot from your channel. One suggestion and that is if you can organize your videos in order from beginner to leveling up that'll be awesome n will make it easier to follow the routine other than just looking randomly at whatever comes next.     Good lesson! Your pull-offs are better then your hammer-ons. You may train hammer in combination with picking for increase you left hand ritm.

    Hey - thanks for a nice lesson as always. This really simplifies legato playing. I just had one query though : is there any particular amplifier setting that works best to have high sustain essential for legato playing? e.g.high gain with pre-amp set to compressor mode and use a little reverb?

    Fun variant I like: hammer and pull from and to the index finger each time to get sixteenth notes. i.e., 5-8-5-7. I love open string variants too, but those don't transpose as easily.

    I started out the opposite.
    I was picking every note trying to sound like John McLaughlin or Al Di Meola. Then I got really into Allan Holdsworth. I don't even use a pic anymore. Smooth Legato is the ultimate way to go.
