Whenever I ask what videos you would like to see, “legato lesson” is always the most requested topic. I really do love legato playing, but I don’t consider myself an expert on it. For that reason, I decided to make this a longer video where I wanted to showcase some of the real legato masters (those who have inspired me the most), then talk technique a bit, and lastly show some of my go to patterns. For anyone who is a fan of my playing, these patterns are a huge part of it. I hope you guys enjoy this video and I really hope that it gives you some resources to check out and get really stoked on legato playing. If you search videos or lessons on any of the guys I mentioned, i guarantee you will be happy you did. Cheers.

Dude not only your guitar techniques but your video and editing style is also amazing
I second that. Really setting a new bar for RUclips guitar lessons
I also like too.
I was about type this same thing. Will be following for more content for sure!
@Kingsley Nadar what?
Seriously this is some killer production
I'm 60 now. Played professionally for 40 years. I would imagine that you are relatively young. The fact that you mentioned Allen Holdsworth is cool. It's nice to know that the real pioneers are still referred to. Another great to check out is Steve Morse. He was one of my favorites back in the day....
Steve Howe, Steve Vai also
Yes's Steve Howe, surly amongst the greatest. 😎
Aaaah man every video you do is ON POINT - honestly you're upping the game every time!
Love watching your content dude, great to watch and always learn a lot - be it by guitar or sick edits!
Just want to appreciate the time you've spent arranging, editing and putting this all together. I'm very thankful for your uploads on here.
Holy crap dude! I struck a gold mine on your channel! Please make more videos!! Your tabs and the way you break things down are BEYOND helpful to me, and far superior than most channels! Salute to you brother!
The most clear and chill teacher Ive stumbled across on YT.
Watched alot of guitar videos through the years and i gotta say even with just your current catalog your channel is top shelf. Well done.
Thanks Clint for the quality content brotha. You're doing all of us a solid. These videos have great aesthetic quality to them and more importantly great lessons.
Focused, precise and effective! Just like your playing.. even though you forgot to mention Satch.. but still, you rock Clint! Keep it up there!
After 45 years playing classic rock, composing and some blues, with this pandemonium I decided to get into speed and shreds. I know I´ll never going to get as fast as your are Mr Tustin, but my speed has increased alot as well as my fingering and concepts, coz you are very patient showing how to go from zero to speedlight.
Many many thanks
From Costa Rica... Pura Vida!!!
These videos are amazing. So glad I found your channel!
Richie Kotzen is another huge master of the legato ... Nice video !
Clint, I really wished you uploaded more. your videos have the most perfect vibe.
Love your videos honestly my favorite tutorials on RUclips
RUclips recommendation did not disappoint today. Just wanted to say as a long time player I really love your teaching style and vids. Subbed.
Love the quality of your videos man
18 seconds in and I already know this will be a good educational video! Much appreciated!
I just learned like 6 new things lol. Been working on the legato stuff for ages and I've come a long way, but that dimebag style run at the end is blowing my mind. So much easier than it looks and sounds. Thanks man!
After seeing Guthrie Govan with the No Hands playing I want that kinda smoothness with the accuracy & speed just amazing !! A Technic I have never spent enough time on developing so for the next month. I'm gonna work hard on it and find my groove . Thanks for the video and inspiration !!!
Guthrie taught Tom Q who taught Jack Gardiner. Scary technique all.
Really? Damn!
Keep up the awesome videos and tabs - Your Guitar Pro files are fueling my practice sessions these days :)
Thanks! I found this extremely useful, especially the Paul Gilbert stuff. I've had to slow down and isolate when I upstroke throughout these exercises. It's slow now, but I'll shred until they're fast. Thanks again!
Absolutely love your content mate! Thanks for inspiring us! :)
Thank-you very much for magikses lessons for future softley-speed taiping!! Very big health yours and good luck!!

Excellent video bro! thank you for your exercises! greetings from Mexico!
Thank you so much for all the content
Really really great excercises
Thats a great exercise workout there. Cheers for mentioning Holdsworth too, he was a Legato beast, and had an incredible musical brain.
New to your channel. Cool content and cool techniques man! I dig the video style as well.
Awesome video brother keep it up!
That was a really good video👍
Love these exercises!
fantastic video mate....got a lot of new ideas and patterns to try! Thanks! A new fan and sub..
Wow thats a great video. Thank you.
Wow this video is far better than what i expected it to be
Thrash legend Alex Skolnick has a very underrated/ under appreciated legato techniqie. His solos in Testament's "The Ritual" album is quite sublime.
Alex gets a lot of attention but not as much as he should, he's a phenomenal player. He and Petrucci swap out the lead slot on my fave players totem depending on the day I guess.
muchas gracias, es de gran ayuda para los autodicatas que le sacamos probecho a tus videos - Thank you very much, it is a great help for the self-interpreters who take a shot at your videos
All great players you mentioned, pretty badass yourself... Brett Garsed is another legato monster who also uses hybrid picking, Marco Sfogli is also fantastic.
Great work, clear tabs and easy to follow instructions... Thanks for the lesson.
bruh dave murray is the legato legend! thanks for the awesome video :)
Love the lesson! Greetings from Singapore!
Good job! I love your videos!
Mate you ace! Just needed some new inspiration lick to my music thanks for that! Would love to see more of these runs! In some key varriations.
Sou do Brasil, seu canal é ótimo!!!!!!!
you deserve much more recognition
Thanks Clint! Grrr8 lesson...!!!
Great job Clinton
Came for a fast guitar lesson, but got a really slow down vibe lesson Great!
Rick Graham is in my opinion one of if not THE best guitarist on the planet. Every single time I watch him play I am in awe.
I used to think that he and Guthrie were the best, then I saw Bumblefoot and started hating myself for not being able to understand what's going on sometimes :(
This will be great for quarantine
Wow! This is a smorgasbord of stuff to tackle at a great time. Thanks Clint.
man ! this video helps me lot!
thank you for make this video, is really good in the way to teaching
The very first name that always comes in mind when it comes to legato is Joe satriani. There is hardly any player who uses legato so much as satch. Rick Graham was inspired from Satch and Guthrie consider his legato playing very influential. Without listening to his legato playing technic and style, it would be incomplete. But anyways, u r amazing dude. Very nice lesson....
I'm not here to diss the legend but Satch has a very simplistic not overly complex legato technique. It can be apparently quite obvious once you begin to familiarize with his music... I grew up listening to Joe...You notice he has a limited repertoire of legato runs compared to Rick, Guthrie or Tom, he doesn't shift and slide that much all he does is follow the ascending/descending pattern in a box or adjacent to it. Not saying that I can do Satch's legato ( I'm still struggling execute his slower tunes cleanly lol) I really would look into other players if I want a juicier legato technique, Joe's legato can be a great stepping stone though.
@@nethbt Well I understand what u said brother, but I am talking about the speed and melody that he creates with his legato playing. The way he just flows with the notes is exceptional. Rick and Guthrie are anyways an extraordinary guitarists and there is no doubt but even they consider him as one of the inspiration. It's also not about who inspired whom but for learning this particular technic specifically, Satch should be the first person to look upto in my opinion. This video was posted for educational purpose and so I thought to refer a player who is great at it..... Whatsoever let's not talk about anyone...At the end it's important for u and me to play it😀
@@sanjugholley I don't care how complex the playing is if it sounds recognizable. Satch is one of those guys that you can recognize from their playing.
@@PegeCovers Well said brother
Satch is my fave!
Again.. another awasome content... ❤️Just make short flim with that editing skills
God damn. The extra effort in the presentation is impressive.
Thanks man great work! Ez sub
Excuse me, im gonna steal the diminished pattern haha, great video, keep up the good work
You have a great technique. Great stuff.
Awesome lesson!
Love you, man.

thanks for this video
Congrats from Brazil man; very cool explanation and examples. Like and subscribe in you channel
Because of Joe and Quayle I’d like to change my major technique to legato instead of alternate and shredding.. thanks for the excercises..
You are my favorite guitarist
Lots of love from Nepal
My favorite is Dave Murray!!! He is the best and I saw him playing live for 3 times here in Brazil.
Wow thanks bro!
great lessons man. ill try to play these licks
Awesome!
