    ***ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
This is how to install garage door safety cable easily.
You can do this when you install new garage door extension springs or to existing garage door extension springs. It doesn't matter. Just don't get caught with a broken spring without a safety cable like it did. It could cause a lot of damage or worse, bodily harm.
You usually get garage door extension spring safety cables in the box when you buy the garage door springs. If not you could likely buy the garage door side spring safety cable separate.
The garage door safety cable instructions in this video I straight forward. Be sure to align your safety cable with the extension spring as well.
I hope this how to install garage door safety cable video finds you and if you don't have spring containment cables running through your garage door side springs, get them installed before the springs break.

Oh great video just wish the manufactures would think I had a pretty simple they know what the door links gonna be and what the track length is they could take the cable Lupe Jen put it through a threaded a hook and then you could hook it just like you do the spring wouldn’t cost that much more few pennies on the millions they’re making already on these junk doors they build a great video

I had a spring break yesterday. Luckily no one was inside but the bang that it made made me think something fell inside my house. (It’s a detached garage)

Just a note. If your springs are old enough to break, you wanna do the lift cables as well. They will start to fray and fall apart when you least expect it. Thats when itll put your door out of balance(level) and thats if the cable dont snap first while the door is moving. If that happens your gonna have a bad time just gettin it back down. At least yours are single car doors. Double 16 and 18 wide usually have much more damage to panels when a cable breaks during the door going up or down. Especially with a gdo running the door since most models prior to 2015 arent sensitive enough to see a problem with door motion resistance and stop before it damages the door while its going cockeyed.

I just replaced the pulleys and cables on my garage door. I actually removed a safety cable not realizing that is what it was. I'm gonna go out and put the safety back in place.
