- Those OEM pipes just didn't cut it on the 1983 Yamaha RZ350 ...so it was time to install a pair of Jim Lomas exhaust pipes to give the bike the edge it deserves!

Wow - Simply stunning! Really finishes it off so well, and bet it sounds ever better in real life! Well done! An iconic machine that!
Many thanks!
As a young buck in the Air Force I bought a new one in 84. Was impressed with the quality of how everything was designed and performed, very low engine vibration. Changed the pipes only and it really made a difference, loved that power valve. I decided to let it go after sparing with a GSXR 1100 and crashing over a cliff in Sicily. Went back to off road only.
Creaky, that sounds painful! Those cliffs are a real hazard around here, too. Lots of trees down below that don’t move when you hit them. Glad to hear you’re still riding, though! Thanks for your comment.
Beautiful bike. Love the RD350LC & RZ350PV engines > My first 'big' bike was the RZ500. Guy I brought it off said it's either teach you to ride, make you swear never to ride again, or it'll kill ya! :D
Just ordered these Chambers for my 1973 RD350. Hope it sounds this good.
What a gorgeous bike. Those pipes just add to its already high desirability.
My '89 f2 says hello, albeit with its standard pipes on.
It would love a pair of these!
ATB and thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Safe riding on your ‘89 F2.
NIce. I have the same 83 (and a bunch of others) in the same condition. After running Toomeys on it for some time, I put it back to stock pipes and jetting because it looks like it just came off the showroom (like yours). I just put a set of those JL classics on a recent build. FZR front, FZ swinger, FZR wheels. Ported, forged pistons, VM30s. They work well but sound a bit tinny compared to Toomeys or Spec2.
Thanks for your comment, Ken. Safe riding!
Yes truly amazing,, definitely need to fit those exhaust pipes,, from northern Ireland ☘️🎥🎥🎥
Thanks for your comment!
Not even comparable
Looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Great job
Way cool, i love mine! I went with the GP style!
Very nice.
Nothing like a set of 'spannies on an RZ350. Take your time dialing in the jetting. Get it right, it takes time but it is well worth it. Enjoy.
Thanks, Scott.
Very nice! Clean install gentlemen! Sounds great!
Thanks, Brandon.
Now that's more like it !
Lovely look and sound. Did you have to re-jet carbs
They were re-jetted, but not for this installation.
Superb improvement! Looks and sounds fantastic. Did you change the carbs?
@@3ftDeepChannel no bigger jets?
Actually, I went back and checked the records and yes, we did go to bigger carb jets!
Beautiful bike, did you notice any power gains with these pipes?
Nothing to speak of. Thanks for the kind words.
Looks and sounds great. Are these pipes available in Canada to be bought new?
I don't think so. We got it from here: www.jl-exhausts.com/
Beautiful
Thanks, Simon!
nice!
had a Canadian ,RZ350 stock, not as nice, butt still quick!!
Bit of a double edged sword, they draw unwanted attention from the police..
Nice gloves to work on a perfectly clean RZ. Lol
Mega
I’d keep the oem pipes Incase u decide to sell it do you still have the bike
Good advice, Henry. Unfortunately, we sold the bike. Safe riding.
With new pipe I expect different improvements; here in order of importance (for me):
1) More power! Without better performances the modification is useless. Depend on the pipe design, we can have more power at higher rpm or more torque at lower rpm
Both improvement are impossible, but is possible to loose torque at low rpm without significat increase of power at high rpm (asianpipes, developped without test them on dyno)
2) Weight. The standard pipes are heavy. The new pipes need to be lighter.
3) Sound. There are those who prefer the metallic sound of the expansion pipers while those who prefer the sound of the originals mufflers. It's a matter of personal taste. The important thing is that they are not too noisy (so as not to have trouble with the police).
4) Look. Very subjective. Who prefers the original cigar-shaped ones, who prefers black expansions, who prefers chromed. I prefer the black expansions, with the black silencers
Fair enough, Boris. Thanks for your comment.
Can you use a link on a timing chain on a Sea-Doo engine just asking do they have one and what kind
The Sea-Doo engines don't have a link on the timing chain.
Hi, I'm inscrit in your channel, I live in Atlanta-Ga can I have a question please, I have 2017 waverunner yamaha ex tr1, I need timing chain, I have manual but camshaft has lot signal, right camshaft has ( in )intake (ex) exhaust in and ex, left side the same signals, this confuse, you can help me please?
One camshaft is for the intake and the other is for the exhaust. Unfortunately, we focus on Sea-Doos, so we can’t be much help. Good luck.
Did you jet the the 26mm
Stock carbs with the stock airbox and I went up two sizes on the main jets.
2010 rxt Seadoo 260 new computer both wire harnesses rebuilt supercharger won't Rumba 45 got any ideas rebuild engine
Rumba 45?
Sounds nice, If you ever want to sell it let me know :)
Sorry, but we already sold it!
Better than stock, but you need to get rid of the air box and use K&N pods and jet accordingly. You are running rich.
Thanks for the tip. Safe riding.
I would not put K&N's on it at all, because it is REALLY difficult to get them to run correctly when you attempt jetting. I gave up after trying umpteen jet sizes & went back to the original airbox with no issues. Only a pro with a dyno would be able to get it spot on.
Very good point. One of the biggest mistakes of people modifying their machines is not understanding that the right “balance” was achieved at the factory. If you’re going to set it off balance with a change, you need to re-balance it with other mods. Thanks for your comment.
@@3ftDeepChannel Thanks.... & yes the correct 'balance' you mention is of course finding the correct fuel/air ratio, as changing the air filter element causes the volumetric efficiency of the engine to change. As you correctly pointed out, the manufactures spent hundreds of hours finding the best ratio that gives a consistent performance right throughout the rev range. I had flat spots at different rpm levels with different size jets, I could not replicate the same efficiency throughout the rev range using K&N's, that the standard air box produced. Cheers.
Bad information, the stock airbox on a standard tune engine can't be improved on .
🙏🔥 hello from 🇮🇲 they sound and look beautiful 👍✅ ive got some allspeeds on my 81 rd350lc mine sound better😂 😉 but lomas's look better, btw this side of the pond yours is called a rd350ypvs they were the runout model, not as popular as the lc,
Thx for upload
Thanks for your comment. Your flag is so tiny I can hardly make it out. Are you from the Isle of Man?
Personally I think the stock pipe sounds better and yamahas r n d spend a fortune on getting it right.
They get the mechanics right, but the sound is definitely a matter of taste. Thanks for your comment.
Remove the baffles ya big girl. And send it!! 😂
Which one is the “girl”, Chris or the camera man?
I need to find me a rz350.
They're pretty rare. You'll find it hard to find the 500, too as most people crashed them and so they are no more ...
Please Do not Shut It Down 😛😛
Okey-dokey.
Sounds like a weed wacker, but I am 4T biased.
Yeah, shows how little you know...
Those aren’t great chamber’s. He makes better ones. I can tell by the stinger length that these are no better than DG’s.
Thanks for your comment.
Toomey's rule......period!
Hey, Toomey's are scammers in 2024. I'll be going after them to get my money back
