I also thought the butt pad/cap thingy was much better. Thanks for the history & taking one for the team with the bathtub test. miss Paul. So happy Roy & The Crew are keeping the channel going.
Excellent video. Enjoyed the history lesson, the take down and assembly. And the bathtub test! You really put it on the line for your viewers. Keep your powder (and your Henry) dry.
Your review is right on the money. I've had mine for 10 years now and have been very happy with it. It will float just long enough for you to retrieve it if you drop it in deep water. I don't of any other firearm that will do that.
Cranky - that was a good look at the Henry. Have to agree that the butt cap definitely needs some re-engineering. Cool, and painful to see Paul at the end.
Very cool history and the takedown and putting it together. I've shot a old charter arms one when I was younger, it had issues , couldn't get through a magazine. It was my neighbors dad's, and he'd get annoyed with it . The butt pad does feel cheesy. Miss Paul , he was a good guy
I was watching this while vacuum packing some chicken and after seeing the tub test, I thought vacuum sealing it would be one way of waterproofing it. You might be able to fit it in a dry bag as well.
I got one maybe about 8 years, ago and mine has honestly been pretty reliable, and its a very fun gun to shoot. I think some basic updates could make it a much better gun though. The "entire gun fits inside the stock" thing is cool, but it ends up making the stock uncomfortable, fragile, and the entire gun is awkwardly offset in the stock. It would be really easy to make a skeletonized / wire stock, and have the disassembled rifle fit inside a small rectangular waterproof case, which is not part of the gun. Sights could be improved. Magazine could be switched to a 10-rounder of amore common, less fragile design.
@ I wanted to get a henry stock for the ability to hold three magazines in stead of just one. But seeing that it won't float... also I think it might be little wider in thickness.
@ yeah it’s an odd stock shape for sure. You pay be able to make it float better by sealing the seams and/drilling some holes and filling it with expanding foam 🤷🏻♂️
@kenbiehl303 7” of water was more than enough to convey the point. I’m not trying to submerge the entire thing and have to take hours to dry it and clean it. And I believe “Einstein” would not like you misspelling his name, though he’s not here.
We LOVE you Paul Harrell!
RIP!

@@SDWNJ both would be great ways of waterproofing for long term bugout storage. Even electrical tape around the cracks would help
When Charted arms made these in Stratford everyone had them. Wish i kept mine.

The Charter Arms model had styrofoam fillings around the parts, but it could only hold one magazine in it, in a slot and not in the receiver.
