2:40 - 3:00 is just one of my favorite moments in the entirety of the post-punk/revival genre. His flow over the music is really tight and well done. Also just have some real phonetic pleasure of his combination of the words "Japanese ships". There's my little sperg moment.
@Anthony Nelms I agree, the rhythm section is mixed really well, sitting *just* under those angular guitars. How do you think this project compares to Public Strain?

I've always been really curious about the music theory these guys and women and palm and all use in their songs! much of it sounds like basic diatonic stuff but usually it sounds like there a little more going on
i like it. my interpretation: she is an android who has lived tru various eras and the band (mixed faces) represents the men she has shaped tru time.
+Cristo Gomez Mike Wallace (the drummer) said in an interview that Matt (the singer) reads a lot of science fiction. Given the Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep) feel throughout the video, I think the shifting face(s) may be an homage to the Scramble Suits from Philip K Dick's novel A Scanner Darkly.
Not trying to discredit what you got out of the video. I'm just a big Philip K Dick fan, so thats immediately what came to my mind.
i see this music video as dealing with themes of 'being manufactured' or 'fake' -the mannequins and the line 'overdeveloped in incompetent ways.' that there is some sincerity lost in portraying yourself to the world maybe. its funny because Preoccupations, formed after Chris Reimer's death of the bandmates of Women- are to me some of the most sincere artists and innovators of great music.

okay, let me phrase that differently. of course they care about their name, but being able to play gigs and make music is more important than preserving their name which apparently upsets people (which is bs, but what are you gonna do about it). I completely agree that viet cong is a better name than preoccupations, and I too agree that it's a shame they changed it; however, I think it is rude to say that they pussed out and that "apparently musicians with grip don't exist anymore", because that's just bullshit.

Actually this isn't 'Preoccupations - "Bunker Buster" from 'Viet Cong'', its Bunker Buster BY Viet Cong. They changed their name after they recorded this. So lame. Great song though.

Eh... technically, yes. But in reality, you find this song on Spotify and streaming/music services under Preoccupations. So “Preoccupations - Bunker Buster” _is_ correct. So is “Viet Cong - Bunker Buster”. Minus the Content ID, which still says Viet Cong. But eh, take what you will
At the same time, the casual listener who stumbles upon Preoccupations prob won’t give much of a shit. Preoccupations are the ones who changed their name from Viet Cong to that because _they_ wanted to, and Jagjaguwar complied.
