JC has helped me learn just about everything i know from watching his videos. His Legacy will live on for as long as drones will be around.Thnk you to his family!
Sad to find out after reading the comments, I had no knowledge of what happened until just now. I ride, race bicycles and motorbikes yet i'm just getting into this sport of quads, and he, JC Mr Blue Falcon. (His legacy) has again showed me how to resolve my problem. I can't imagine, his family had to deal with such a loss. JC, a smart intelligent young man. How life can be so cruel to the ones that are truly gifted. Thank You to his family for allowing us to still gain information we seek from his intelligence in electronics and keeping the chanel active.
Thank you for such nice informative video. I don't have any basic understanding of electronics. Still I was able to accomplish this simply by following your video. Thanks a ton.
For anyone who wants to use XM+ during 2020; I've spend 4 days and nights trying to get 2 new XM+'s to work. Finally the struggle ended with a good connection, but damm that was frustrating. To help fellow droners out, I would like give some info about this. I updates my FrSky X lite (accst) to the latest firmware, v2 versions. Same with the drones to the latest betaflights and the XM+ to the latest firmware as given on the FrSky website. My tip to anyone with connection issues: DO NOT UPDATE THE XM(+) TO THE LATEST v2 VERSIONS!! Apperently, the XM(+) can't handle the latest firmware (2.x.x. and up). If you manage to bind, you wont have a stable connection, actually you will have a horrible connection with failsafes every 5 or 10 seconds. Complete useless. After trying everything and everything, the only way I could make my XM+'s work is to downgrade my FrSky X Lite to the latest version BEFORE the 2.x.x. Which is the XM+LBT170313-RSSI8(or 16) (the 2.x.x and above is useless anyway, only made for FrSky themself so they can outrule any 3th party receivers... bad move, is going to make a lot of droners dislike FrSky and move to TBS or something, like I did (now ordered the TBS Nano module that fits right in my FrSky X lite). But to get back to my point; don't upgrade. The XM+; leave it to a pre-2.x.x. firmware, the latest is XM+170313. The internal antenne on the X lite; iXJT_EU_20180416 or just a pre-2.x.x. on other frsky radio's. The betaflight I use is the 4.1.7, from 4.2.x and up it doesn't work. Tip: with the xm+ on quads, with a flip function, use 8channel firmware. you'll need 3 channels for arm/mode/beeper and 1 for the flip, and since ch8 is used for rssi (for the osd) you wont have a channel for the flip. Solution; use the same channels als the beeper; a 3-way switch. I my case the first move makes the beeper go of, 1 move further on the same channel flips the drone. Works great! But this way you can use 8channels instead of 16channels, which makes a better connection and still you keep the RSSI in your OSD!.
hi seems like you're still right, lost a few hours and some grey hair till i find your comment, what a useless reciever... bought it to bind it with a taranis x9d from 2014... but don't want to downgrade beta flight on my nazgul just for this... think i have to look for a new reciever
I realize this is an old video, but here’s a tip: Hold the controller further away. I tried ten times with no luck, then grabbed my controller about two arms lengths away and it worked.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! i have a king kong v2 with a RX@A pro that didn't bind for ^%$##!! i ordered a XM+ and thanks to this very informative vid. I am bound and ready to go, you're ........................................ awesome!!!!!!
Question i am in the process of witching over to Frsky from spektrum new to all there receivers. can this be use like a satellite like a spektrum on helicopter flybarless units
Hello, Love your vids. I can bind my xm+ to my taranis with no issues. I get the green light after powering the RX back on but the Taranis does not have an rssi value in a range test nor does it say telemetry recovered/lost. I know this is a "non telemetry" rx but I would have thought that only meant it didn't have an option to take tele from a FC. Should it still send an RSSI value to the TX?
Are you still planning on making the video on how to flash the firmware on the xm/xm+? I suspect my xm+ and taranis firmware do not match as I keep getting a solid red light after I bind them. I am assuming it's done the same way you would flash firmware to the XSR? 1) Download firmware from frsky website. 2) connect Taranis to PC and save the firmware on the SD card 3) connect the XM+ power/ground/sbus wires to the bottom 3 pins on the module bay in back of taranis 4) go into the taranis firmware menu and select the xm+ firmware you want and select "flash external device". I am sitting at work so I don't have my taranis in front of me to know the exact menu options to go to but that is vaguely how I remember it being done on the XSR. I can not find any documentation showing it being done different for the XM+. Does that sound about right to you?
Yep it should be a very similar set up. Last I heard the firmware on FrSkys website wasn't working but they might have fixed it by now. I'll check it out and make a video on it. But you can watch the XSR video. Should be the same. ruclips.net/video/H6Uk8uuLHXw/видео.html
Awesome, that method works perfectly for upgrading the firmware on the XM+ as well. Unfortunately firmware update did not resolve my issue. It appears that there is an incompatibility issue between the XM+ and my new flight controller (Brain RE1). Whenever the SBUS wire from the XM+ is connected to the Brain the light on XM+ will stay solid red and won't connect to the taranis. If I disconnect the SBUS wire so the XM+ only has power and ground going to it then the LED on the XM+ turns green when my taranis is on. It's very very odd. I tried 2 different XM+ receivers with the same result. When I put the XM+ on any other flight controller I have it works perfectly fine though. And when I put an XSR on the Brain FC that works fine. I tried turning sbus inversion on and off, neither made a difference. I tried 2 different versions of betaflight, no difference. It has to be an incompatibility between the XM+ and the Brain RE1 flight controller for some odd reason.
I have a devo 7e and finally got a successful bind last night, range test was great everything working smoothly. It was bound for maybe and hour. I was getting a perfect signal in test mode no matter how hard I tried to make it loose signal around the house. Xm+ here. I was in betaflight setting some switches up and the receiver just stopped working. I was changing the aux channels on the transmitter for flight modes in betaflight and it just stopped receiving. When I power it lights up dim solid green/red and doesn't do anything, no different if I power it on while holding the bind key. It should be a bright solid green and blinking red in bind mode. Sometimes if I wait a while to plug a battery in and don't hit the bind key it will light up solid red. I tried to bind it again but nothing happens. I'm at a complete loss. I reset the profile and tried to bind again no luck.
Hi, I'm Paul, from Brazil, I made my first bind after watching your video, it helped a lot, my kit is a TX Jumper T8SG Plus, iFlight Nazgul5 4s with RX FrSky XM + Plus. .. The bind was ok, the green led remains on in the FrSky XM +, however, the blue led on the control module is blinking continuously and from then on nothing happens ... do you have any ideas or ... you know say what should I change in the configuration for the FrSkyX model? Thank you.
Hi, I tried to bind this Frsky xm+ to my Devo 7e but failed. Both red and green lights, can I flash it as you recommended without a Taranis? Just somehow connected to PC?
HELP! When trying to bind I get a solid blue light and blinking red. I can't find any info out there as to what that means or how to fix. Has anyone had this happen and if so, what is the problem?
CAn this bind to a DJT? Because I got a mini off banggood and it said it would ship with a D8-D16 compatible receiver but I got this, and all I have is a DJT.
Howdi.. im using a EU version so have flashed LBT fw.. which flashes fine.. but when trying to bind i get a solid red and solid green so cant get it to bind.. any ideas ?
have u had range issues? I was able to bind & set up in Betaflight but had failure during maiden (I have a vid up). range test only gave me 20 ft before I could not arm/disarm.
For Deviation multi protocol radio users like Devo 7E / 10 or Jumper. If you have solid green and red leds in bind mode and it can't bind, it's not a matter of firmware. Just decrease Freq-Fine to -60 on your radio and it will bind. Helpful isn't it : ) I think that everyone should add clever tips as a tribute and to make JC videos even more informative for ever.

why D16, just because that's the only thing that that RX accepts? Because D8 does sbus also.
I honestly dont know. I just know it works lol.
Project Blue Falcon OK cool. but the XM won't accept D8?
Nope. Only D16
