We used green lights in the army to preserve night vision. A lot of our maps weren’t red light readable either.

I use red lights in cab. I work a lot at night and it helps not stress your eyes and retain your night sight. Also just enough light to do paperwork/find something without blinding the hell out of yourself.

The colored light in a truck is for eye fatigue in the dark. Police and Fire use red light inside the vehicle. And when firemen alarm goes when they are sleeping the lights turn on red so they can adjust easier when getting dressed heading to the rig.

Huge respect for your former employer. It really takes a great man to appreciate an employee for thanking you for the time you gave to his company. Big big compliment for you and a great testimony of who you are, to leave your job this way. Best of wishes for 2022. Hope your company will grow from strength to strength !!!!!

@@friendlypiranha774 unfortunately money and power has taken over mostly. Three things only matters, what I have, where I live and what I drive has become the norm to measure success. What happened to love, understanding, kindness, compassion? I always strive to leave the later. What footprint do we leave in the lives of others. Is it a scare or is it a blessing. People can make you or break you. The kindness one shows to others can make a world of difference to them. A big thanks to all uplifting employers.

The intended purpose of the colored interior lights was to help keep the drivers eyeballs from getting completely dilated if turned on while driving.

A big step. As an owner/operator myself, taking that step is kind of like stepping out into the dark. Maybe there is firm ground out there and maybe not. Sounds like you are contracting out to Pellco and that is a good way to start with familiar and friendly people. I wish you all the luck out there. Do scheduled oil sampling on all the pieces needed such as the engine, trans, and rear ends.
The only name I put on my door is my name, all the other titles are on a plate hanging behind the door. Good luck again.

Congratulations, and best of luck with your new endeavor. As a driver for 41 years, (28 hauling cars) I know how erratic the trucking industry can be! Sometimes it’s more profitable as a company driver, than actually owning a truck. Being an owner operator has certain benefits, but sometimes most of the profits go back into the truck. It’s just the reality of being an owner. A lot more responsibility! We say in the business, “ If you own a truck, you never have a day off ! My professional advice, Determine a good salary for your personal well being, and keep the rest in the business!!! That way you build and grow the company, while keeping your head above water, and having excess for any contingencies. You are smart, experienced, and hard working. You will do fine! Be patient and give it time ! Stay diligent! Gods blessings upon you and your family !!!

@@daneblackburn613 VERY GOOD ADVICE, Dane!!! Stuff happens, and when it does you need cash to pay for the fix at the same time that income stops while you wait for parts & labor. Both are very expensive. And the truck payment goes on including insurance, taxes, etc.

Over here in the UK, for a national (UK) and International (Europe and beyond) heavy goods (over 3.5ton Gross vehicle weight) operators license, by law you have to have at any one time a minimum of £8k for the first vehicle and £4450 for every subsequent vehicle after that IN THE BANK. To me that is like skating on thin ice if something goes wrong.

It takes courage to cut the line from being a company employee to the owner of your own company & rig. Hang in there and good luck!

I've been o/o for almost 30 years. I'm leased to a well known company. Been with them 26 years. I have 379 pete and two double drop extendable trailers. Been some rough times but some good times. Just be willing to work hard. Do whatever it takes and you'll be fine. You got what it takes to make it happen. I been watching you almost the whole time on your channel. You know your business. Wish you the best. So you get out there and show all the guys what your made of.
