BYP also sells a sealer, wondered if you've ever used it and if it would help stop chipping or scratching. Never saw any cabinets painted no matter which method or how much prep that didn't chip, scratch, wear out. Since I can't find replacement cabinets that will fit I am researching best painting methods. Thanks for Video as this product is really peaking my interest. I plan on sanding hoping top get an even better bond.
I painted my kitchen cabinets about 6 months ago with Beyond Paint and I am very impressed with the finish and durability!! I am constantly wiping down my cabinets and around the knows and have never had an issue with chipping or the paint getting wiped off!! Since I had plenty of paint left, I decided to use it on my walls as well. I searched and searched and could not find any feed back on using this paint on drywall. It looks great once finished, but took 3 coats to get coverage. Just wanted to let others know in case anyone decided to use thus on their walls. I did have a place that my husband chipped while installing our microwave and I just lightly dabbed some paint on that area with a foam brush. You cannot even tell that it was touched up. Some people claimed that this paint had a terrible odor. I did notice that when I first opened the can, but it almost immediately went away. My eyes are very sensitive to paint fumes, but after painting for more than a week (indoors) this paint did not bother my eyes at all!! I am a very satisfied customer and wanted to help others who were looking for more information on this product.
8 years ago I painted my kitchen cabinets with Rustoleum Cabinet transformation. They were a 90’s oak and I chose a reddish brown color. I did use the glaze that came with the kit. Zero chipping, zero scratches, zero wear. I had teenagers and four dogs.
We used beyond paint on our laundry room cabinets. It went on easily, dried beautifully (self-leveling), and has held up for more than two-years. Super happy with the product.
I used the Beyond Navy for my lower kitchen cabinets and the White for my upper cabinets, plus I also used the White to change my countertop and I am SO happy with the result! It's gorgeous! The paint is very easy to apply. However, because it's a kitchen with high traffic, I applied the Sealer over the cabinets and also the countertop. I think I'd recommend that. Although the paint has a sealer already in it, the Behind website does say somewhere that the Sealer is recommended for countertops and I decided it was easy to also put the Sealer over the cabinets and so I went that extra measure. I really love this paint.
Thanks for sharing as I was very curious if sealer would make even more durable. Worried though that as with many sealers it might eventually yellow. You didn't mention so I'm guessing after 2 years, yellowing isn't an issues.
Thanks to your thorough prep work, the finish still looks brand new. It's great to see that this paint really delivers on its promise. You always do a great job Lauren, and this highlights your skills. Thanks for the update.🌷❄️🌷
Thank you for your well done videos. I watched your first one on this kitchen ,then got brave and did my guest bathroom. I did allow the long curing time before using the cabinets. The results are as the company and you have described. I saved my 1980’s oak cabinets with this paint and the finish is very attract!
I watched your show for the first time today. I love shows like yours. I am 63 years old. I had the pleasure of turning my hobby into a business. I designed and built cabinets and furniture. I have never seen anyone hit on every detail like you. Wonderful job.
I painted the cabinets in my older RV. It looks amazing still. I love beyond paint! So worth the money! When I was researching it though, a lot of people said that they didn't have good results with the white. I've used the grey and black paint and it looks great.
I watched several of your videos. Ordered Licorice Beyond Paint and I’ve painted 2 bathroom cabinets and a small cab in my entryway. They turned our GREAT! Thank you!
Your initial video of this kitchen convinced me to try the product on my own somewhat smaller kitchen. Seeing just how FAR one container will cover really sold me. The relatively quick turnaround time is a big plus in my home with three kids and three large dogs too. I even suggested it to my mom for a camper update. After five months of hard use and so few imperfections...... SOLD! This is just what I need to freshen up my home since I can't get the whole remodel we planned. Bummer of living in the sticks. It's a beautiful view everywhere but I can't get contractors to come out 😂 Thanks for the update! 👍🏼
I'm so excited. I watched the video when you painted these cabinets last night and see the update today. We bought this house in 2016. It was a flip, and the cabinets were brand new but I have never liked them. They are a very orangey mid-range brown and I've wanted to paint them since the day we moved in. I knew it would be a big job so I've put it off but now that I see this product I am ready to go! Thanks for your through and helpful information and the result looks beautiful!
I'm doing my first kitchen for a customer, he wanted two colors and I was very lucky he didn't mind the long dying time. That is my only issue with the process. I think he is going to love it all.
Thank you sooo much! I used this product to freshen up an old highboy from the 1950’s. It was a well made piece of furniture but just did not fit well in the bedroom. I purchased the paint for around $56 and added new hardware….very impressive results! I am going to use this to update my kitchen cabinets which again are well made but are out of date. I has given a bid at Lowes to replace these cabinets and was astonished at the cost involved. I am very impressed with your results and you are a inspiration on how to recycle and improve home repairs!!!
Thank you for following up in this project. I have watched your video a few times to decide. My new countertop comes in soon so I just ordered the paint and two kits with your code!
Thank you for the update. I've been trying to decide if I want to do my kitchen with beyond paint. I think I'm going to take the project on now. Thank you again! Have a wonderful evening!
Go for it! Just remember, take your time, clean REALLY well and then, of course, wait those 2-3 weeks for everything to cure and dry before returning back to normal use (: Good luck!
I am in the middle of doing my kitchen right now. I was on the fence on buying it until I saw your video on doing this kitchen and another one you did on a dresser in pebble. So I chose the pebble off of that video because I liked it a lot. Thanks so much for your videos, they helped me a lot! And I love the paint, my kitchen is looking awesome. Oh and I did my countertops with it too and it was really easy. Thanks Lauren!
Hmm. Somewhere I got the idea that it was supposed to hide the wood grain. I've watched a lot of videos today so maybe that was another product. I'm happy to hear you say it came out smooth. A video on another channel said they would not use it again because it was a very rough surface.
I am so glad you did this video. It's so helpful to see how a product performs, especially after being used. By the way, your hair looks so pretty down.
Awesome ~ I’ve been considering many paint options. With your directives, I am now going to use Beyond Paint for a large freestanding cabinet that is raw wood from Home Depot. If I love it I will use it for 3 bathrooms and a large kitchen. Thanks for making my life a bit easier.
Thanks again for sharing this project. I have wanted to paint our cabinets for awhile now and I am going go with the Beyond paint. I have watched a lot of videos on this and I think this is the way to go. 💯❣
a professional painter said to use a velour roller if you want no brush strokes a d a smooth finish. I still primed and sanded then put water on surface and in paint to make a first thin layer to really seat or bond to wood.
I used the white on an old beat up nightstand. It worked great. Very easy to use. I call it paint for non painters. It is chalk white though. No shine or finish.
I painted my laundry room and small guest bathroom cabinets the same black and LOVE LOVE LOVE. going to try and do my kitchen but that’s gonna be a big project
Great update and exactly what I wanted to know. Have you considered using the available multi purpose sealer they also sell as a top coat? I'd like to know if it helps protect the finished paint and worth the extra cost & time to apply. Looks like it provides a more satin like finish as well. Tx!
@csimet I'd be interested in knowing the answer to that as well. After watching the bathroom makeover at her parent's house where she painted the countertop and used a sealer, it made me wonder about it being used on the cabinets. Do you know the answer @Furniture Flipping Teacher ?
Karen, would you now say that Beyond Paint is your paint of choice for kitchens and furniture? When would you use chalk paint versus beyond paint for your varied projects? Really enjoy your videos and info for the DIY people like me.
Hope you like it! I know there are limited colors but if you can find one that will work then this paint is definitely the way to go! Thanks for watching!
Oh boy, I went and bought the white Beyond Paint to redo my kitchen cabinets. My husband agrees I can paint the kitchen walls, but when he realizes I bought paint to redo the cabinets he won't be too happy. (He's old school and appreciates the beauty of oak cabinets.) This will be interesting, but I am sooo excited to make this change. Thank you for this video which put my mind at ease and helped me make the decision to "go for it"!
Lori, did you paint your cabinets? If so, how did they come out and what did your husband think? My husband was a “real wood” lover too so I can relate.
I’m so glad you showed this what do you think about me painting over my painted cabinets? What type of prep do you think I need to use? I’m pretty sure the paint was an acrylic paint but the folks that painted my cabinets did not clean or prep them well and it’s chipping in a lot of places I want to repaint it do you think I need to send?
I really love the bathroom transformation, and those beautiful blue cupboards. I noticed the countertop and sinks were completely white, and I loved how it brightened the surroundings. I’m wondering if it will work in my bathroom which is similar but with a beige surround shower with glass doors with gold stripes. Dark green linoleum with washed out looking light green walls. Yuck! I’m really excited to try this paint, but I would love some colour advice. I have the exact same gold light fixture that you removed from your parent’s house. Could I paint that, and keep it? I have no decorating sense whatsoever, so if you could give me colour suggestions I would love ❤️ it! Thankyou. Keep up the great work! 👍🏻
Curious why you didn't paint the total drawer on the outside so when you pull it out you have consistent color. I would want to paint inside the drawers, too. How does it hold up with "stuff" on it? Does it nick & scratch?
Would Beyond Paint be a good choice for painting the open riser staircase leading from our front door to the second floor bedrooms area? The stairs had carpet on them initially, but we don't want carpet as it is hard to keep clean.
Thanks for helping me make up my mind about using Beyond paint after seeing these wonderful videos you have made. I plan on doing my kitchen in these exact colors with black hardware. Can you please tell me what color the walls are? Off white or cream maybe? Thanks again for the helpful tips and tricks.
If you use a sprayer, can/should you thin Beyond since it is so thick? I’m so glad I saw your videos since I’m planning on doing my kitchen and laundry room soon. Thanks so much! Shari
I'm so happy to have found you! This paint sounds amazing. My kitchen cabinets have a fake wood vinyl wrapping over melamine. Should I use a heat gun (shown how to on RUclips) to remove it and then paint, or paint over the vinyl?
Hello 😃 We recommend our Multi-Purpose Sealer for high traffic areas. If you desire a different sheen, you can purchase a water or solvent-based poly of your choice but make sure it is film-forming and test for success first.
Use Bin shellac based primer first and this paint will perform much better. Day 1: Clean thoroughly with krud kutter de-greaser. Remove all household grease before scuffing. Don't use de-glosser, as it's harder to remove its residue. Once the cabs are clean, scuff the whole set with heavy stripping pads. These are low effort and the thickness of them gives you control around the nooks and crannies. Just give the varnish some tooth for the primer to grip to. Then hand vac and wash the set clean with water. Buy a bag of rags for this job. Day 2: Prime with Bin Shellac primer. Don't use latex. Don't use acrylic urethane hybrid primer. Just use Bin, it'll fuse to the lacquer far better than anything else. I wouldn't have a DIYer use anything else. You'll need to throw away brushes after Bin, so I suggest using cheaper ones with a wooden handle, but not plastic ones. One coat will work with a really good, durable paint like this (or Benjamin Moore Scuff-X). But 2 coats will make the job better and ensure you only need 2 coats of expensive paint top coat. Day 3: Lightly scratch the primer with a key. It shouldn't be easy to scrape off. Then you can brush and roll the doors. The doors need to be off which means you do one side at a time. You can use a lazy susan carousel to paint them on a table. You can do one after another and then set them on solo cups. This is not easy, nothing like painting a room.
I have to say that cabinets not painted inside is by no means a complete job and would have been the real test of this products durability with dishes and food staples being used daily.
Just my opinion but I don't think having to touch it up already is a good sign. Five years ago I painted my cabinets with one coat of Zinsser primer and two coats of Benjamin Moore paint and I have no signs of wear and zero chipping. I cook, can, bake and use my kitchen hard. I have never had to touch up even one spot and I even have my garbage and recycling in one cabinet.
@@jennifermarquez5931 I did not sand, I used a liquid sanding product called Paso, there are others. I put the paint on with a small roller and lightly sanded with a fine grit between each coat. I did not use a top coat, the two coats of paint were enough. I have not had chipping or wear and it looks the same after five years. I painted another house kitchen and lived there 10 years before I sold it and never had to retouch.
@@alissaturner5444 It was Benjamin Moore Advance and I used a satin finish. That seems to be what professional painters use. I did not distress it and I did not use a top coat, just 2 coats of paint. I have a very large kitchen and I used less than one gallon. I put the leftover in glass jars and kept them in the house to use for touch up but I haven't needed it.
Thanks for the update. I have been thinking of painting my cabinets white. I’ll try my bathroom vanity first. Does this paint work on laminate and plastic? You are a teacher and explain things very well.
Yep! This paint works on practically ANY surface! Their website has a FULL list of surfaces it works with! Good luck on the vanity and possible kitchen!
I painted our cabinets in our fifth wheel with this paint. Cabinets in RVs aren't usually wood. They're particle board and it had some other weird gold trim. I painted over all of that and it has held up great. I did a lot of research on this product before I bought it. I will say that A LOT of people complained that the white paint didn't cover well and that they were very disappointed in it. I've used the light and dark grey and the black paint. I was very pleased with how all of those projects turned out. The coverage was great.
I wonder if you can mix the colors…say you want a really light grey and you take the white and add black to create the look you want. The client’s decor and style in that kitchen reflects not having to fill in the grooves of the oak. The somewhat distressed vibe under the paint adds to her homes style. So I wouldn’t have filled in the wood with a smooth coat either. But if the door fronts & style called for say more modern I would fill the grain of the wood to get that smooth look. Also, did you client tell you if it took a while to really “cure”? I thought this paint was like that kind of a slow cure. 🤔
I'm redoing my kitchen cabinets which are that old school golden oak. Obviously that wood grain is really really hard to hide. My question is this, even though Beyond paint states you don't need to sand, will I get a better result if I do sand anyway? I have a hard time believing I won't get a better result that way. Or even if the result wasn't better aesthetically, I would think it will still prevent the paint from chipping off as easily
Hi Lauren, this is great news for me! I painted my wood bathroom cabinets about 3 months ago with Fusion Mineral Paint in Raw Silk and like a impatient person I skipped over the priming! Yikes, and yes, I learned my lesson, prime first to prevent bleed thru. If I paint Beyond Paint over the top of my paint job, will that solve my issue? I really hate to have to clean, prime and then paint them again. But, I may have no choice. What are your thoughts? I appreciate help from anyone. Thanks, take care, stay safe
If the only issue is that there is bleed through (i.e. no peeling or flaky paint) then I think you would be fine to just simply clean and paint. you MAY want to lightly sand simply to make sure there is no loose paint. the las thing you want is for the paint to start peeling because the original Fusion paint didn't adhere well. Hope this helps! Good luck!
@@FurnitureFlippingTeacher thank you so much for the help. I love your work and have been subscribed since the beginning. You don’t just show your results, you teach! Thanks again for the help. Take care, stay safe.
Do you know if there is a primer or something self leveling that would hide the wood grain before painting? Seems like that would be a good way to go with less work than filling and sanding.
Hi! My husband and I built shaker style cabinets from scratch. They are made out of 1/4" plywood. Do you think I could use this Beyond Paint directly on the plywood without priming? I know it says "all in one" but all the videos I've watched have painted over cabinets that were already finished so I'm a bit nervous to paint with priming. Any insight would be helpful, thank you for posting this video!
A few of the bristles came out here and there but you just have to make sure you catch them before it dries. Light over dark may take an extra coat but I think it will look great!
I want to paint my kitchen cabinets after watching you. They have a heavy gloss. Do you think I can still get away with not sanding them down? Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think you can, however, you can do a scuff sand if you’d feel more comfortable. I would say you wouldn’t even have to get out your sander. Just take about 120 grit sandpaper and go over the surface of each one. then clean with a degreaser and paint!
Ok I'm so sorry I brought this. I guess it's OK if your not painting something white. The yellowing is horrible, I have guest coming and needed to finish bathroom cabinets. It worked ok on a cabinet I brought six years ago, Ikea like. The vanity cabinets are simple. I thought it would be easy (beginner). But four coats later still yellowing and before the fourth coat I used Slick Stick. I brought a gallon and have uses 3/4th of it. Don't use white and it's expensive.
I love the review after 5 months ....I've definitely been wondering as I Need to paint my cabinets too ...Lauren I watched the video but I can't remember... Did you use a too coat?
I was wondering how the paint was holding up. Is Beyond Paint made for both kitchen and bathroom? The kitchen has grease issues on cabinets and the bathroom has moisture issues. What cleaner can be used to wipe the cabinets when Beyond Paint has been used? Thank you 😊⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hi there! For high traffic areas, We recommend using our Multi-Purpose Sealer over painted surfaces. If you desire a different sheen, you can purchase a water or solvent-based poly of your choice but make sure it is film-forming and test for success first. We hope this helps 😄
Hi, there! You do not have to wait a month to assemble . However after the initial curing period of 5-7 days , please be very careful between then and the full 30 day curing time. Hope this helps 😊
Alll of our paint is a matte sheen finish. We recommend our BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-purpose Sealer which will slightly increase the sheen of BEYOND PAINT ® to a low level Satin. *Test any topcoat that is not BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-Purpose Sealer on a small area for sheen and possible yellowing/clouding before doing your entire project.😊

Those little silicone dots can be put on the inside of the doors to keep it from slamming and getting damaged too

So great to see this follow up. Amazing how the paint completely transformed everything.
crazy what paint can do! 😍 thanks for watching! glad you enjoyed!!
This video is perfect timing for me. Planning my kitchen cabinet refinishing. I'm excited to get started now.

I love the bathroom ! Beautiful color n decorating is perfect

That is awesome! Go fo it! I'm sure he will love the end result when you're done! (:
Lori, did you paint your cabinets? If so, how did they come out and what did your husband think? My husband was a “real wood” lover too so I can relate.
Thank you for the update I’m loving the beyond paint
No problem 👍
I can't wait a few weeks before i can use my kitchen
Good evening!!!!! Here with the kiddos!!!! Braxton and Georgia love to y’all the community and both sides of the family 💜💜💜💜🙌
Hey!! Thanks for watching! Say hello to the kiddos! (:
Thank you so much for this update. I want to use Beyond Paint for my kitchen cabinets but I have been wondering about durability.
Hello, You can do either one ! Beyond Paint will adhere to both 😃
Do you think adding a topcoat of polycrylic would be good for areas that get a lot of traffic?
Hello 😃 We recommend our Multi-Purpose Sealer for high traffic areas.
If you desire a different sheen, you can purchase a water or solvent-based poly of your choice but make sure it is film-forming and test for success first.
Beautiful results love it!❤️
I bought this paint for some furniture. Now I might use it in the kitchen too.
You should! It's great for all kinds of things!
Nice these look great! I painted mine and love how they turned out.
Love this follow-up! Great idea! I'm going to give this a try!
Wonderful!
Oh my lans!!! PLEASE tell me where they go that perfect for me rug in the bathroom???
Of coarse the paint is gorgeous! And that rug goes perfectly ♥️
She says she got it a Ross a couple months ago!! May be difficult to find it but worth a shot!
Great update So glad she love it because I do too.thank you.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching!
Did you sand, before, during? Did you apply a top coat?
Hi! Im looking into painting my cabinets . Can I ask what finish paint you used and if you distressed the edges? Thank you for your help. 😊😊
Thank you so much for your help ! 😊😊💗
Love it. Awesome job.
The coverage was great.

thanks for sharing.
@furniture flipping teacher how are the cabinets today, are they still in good condition? This video and the first one are really informative.
Hi Connie ! You can definitely mix colors to achieve your perfect shade 😊
Jyst wondering if a top coat could be used? I prefer a slightly shiny finish as it seems to clean up better.
you could definitely use it if you wanted to but is not necessary!
I'm redoing my kitchen cabinets which are that old school golden oak. Obviously that wood grain is really really hard to hide. My question is this, even though Beyond paint states you don't need to sand, will I get a better result if I do sand anyway? I have a hard time believing I won't get a better result that way. Or even if the result wasn't better aesthetically, I would think it will still prevent the paint from chipping off as easily
you can prime or sand if you want to!
What colors did you use? I like how the kitchen looks
Thanks so much for this update! Can you tell me if we can use this paint over cabinets that’s already have a wood stain and sealer over it?
Do you know if there is a primer or something self leveling that would hide the wood grain before painting? Seems like that would be a good way to go with less work than filling and sanding.
I don't believe there is a primer like that. Filling in the wood grain would be a pretty lofty project in itself!
Did you use a sealer? I brought the paint and it offered me a soft sheen sealer. Just wanted to know if I needed it.
Looking forward to watch it later.
Bytheway, if u ever need to change your name I think "Flipping Rapuncel" would suit u well😀.
Hello ! You can 100% paint them directly with our paint , no need to prime at all 😊
Can I paint with doors hung? I understand Y'all removed yours & it's probably recommended but I'd like to do it upright 🤔
You can 100% do that. Whatever works best for you. We’ve seen lots of people that have done that before 😊
Did you have any 'shedding' issues with the chip brush & what is your feeling going light over dark cabinets?
A few of the bristles came out here and there but you just have to make sure you catch them before it dries. Light over dark may take an extra coat but I think it will look great!
Can "Zep" degreaser be used as an alternative to Simple Green?
Yes, it can be !!
It still looks beautiful. Could you use beyond paint on Shelac.
At 5.59 as you zoom in on the cabinet door it looks like the paint is cracking in the seam of the door?
Good catch! I went back and looked and yes, it is!
Would love to see you use the beyond paint on the actual sink and counter tops in the bathroom
I have a video of doing countertops! check it out on my channel!
Was not able to find a video of anyone with an actual painting business who uses this stuff on kitchen cabinets.
I love the review after 5 months ....I've definitely been wondering as I Need to paint my cabinets too ...Lauren I watched the video but I can't remember... Did you use a too coat?
Glad it was helpful! No top coat needed
I was wondering how the paint was holding up. Is Beyond Paint made for both kitchen and bathroom? The kitchen has grease issues on cabinets and the bathroom has moisture issues. What cleaner can be used to wipe the cabinets when Beyond Paint has been used? Thank you 😊⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yes and yes! Just dawn & warm water will do the trick!
@@FurnitureFlippingTeacher thank you ❤️❤️❤️🌻🌻🌻⭐️⭐️⭐️
What kind of roller and paint brushes were used?
I bought the beyond paint but I’m nervous to start
I wonder of an acrylic top coat would prevent chipping.
Hi there! For high traffic areas, We recommend using our Multi-Purpose Sealer over painted surfaces.
If you desire a different sheen, you can purchase a water or solvent-based poly of your choice but make sure it is film-forming and test for success first. We hope this helps 😄
this sounds similar to heirloom HTP paint- do you think htp and beyond perform the same?
Do I have to wait for a month to assemble my cabinets?
Hi, there! You do not have to wait a month to assemble . However after the initial curing period of 5-7 days , please be very careful between then and the full 30 day curing time. Hope this helps 😊
Does beyond paint come in a satin finish?
Alll of our paint is a matte sheen finish. We recommend our BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-purpose Sealer which will slightly increase the sheen of BEYOND PAINT ® to a low level Satin.
*Test any topcoat that is not BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-Purpose Sealer on a small area for sheen and possible yellowing/clouding before doing your entire project.😊
What is the color you used on the top cabinets?
Hello! That would be our color Pebble 😄
Beautiful hair!
have you used the beyond paint sealer?
Hi would you mind telling how many hours that kitchen took
Any prep work needed if I’m painting over other paint?
I would clean really well and make sure none of the other paint is peeling or flaking off. if it is, i would sand it to get rid of the flakes.
Have you tried this on trailer house cabinets?
We have seen people do their RVs. It looks great!
