could you ever do a video where you talk a little more about the technical terms like terminations, twins, etc. or maybe how you would go about identifying a mineral if it came with no description? that would be great or if u have a link to video with this type of information?
@handrewmillan4293 I think my mineral videos became popular enough (for my low standards 🤣) where I think I can do a video of that niche information on the internet 😅. Subscribe and hit the bell to be notified when I post it 😁
Oh man same! Excited to go again this year. I'll be doing another display case of these "thumbnail" sized pieces in the main convention center! I got a lot of new ones too! I'd love to meet ya! My name is Kevin
Thank you so much! I have a whole mineral playlist if you want to see the others! 😁 ruclips.net/p/PLpGyYArBWTi5S463GhuNyH2OYKvC3dtbk&si=67kZ7ygt6PeB7V5M
Awesome collection, I’m envious! The Actinolite is named wrongly. Actinolite crystallises into long, thin blades. I’ve never seen it look like that. It’s more likely Epidote?
@glennhales7302 yeah I accepted the invite yesterday myself. If you wind up displaying leave a comment on one of my videos and we'll meet up there 😁 I'm gonna be entering category B2 (competitive cabinet size specimens) this ear for the first time. All my other years was as a guest exhibitor or competitive thumbnail entry
Really enjoyed this showcase ! I'm relatively new to mineral collecting. Where I'm from, budget is a very serious limiting factor, as well access to obscure and variety of minerals. So I collect thumbnails mainly, and I try to collect fine quality thumbnail quartzez because of that budget thing and limited access to obscure minerals. My goal for now is a 'world-tour' Quartz collection with as many forms, habits, and localities that I can get in this category. But hope to expand to other minerals in this size as well one day. All for personal enjoyment
Very awesome to hear! And I'm glad you enjoyed! I have another mineral video on my channel and am making another one soon if you want to check them out and subscribe for free for future videos
That actinolite is very nice, and I do not think is epidot, because of the terminations, epidot has 4 side blade like terminations, and is never with metalic luster. Just from my personal experiece, I am not a geologist/gemologist
I live in mn. My collection is a mix of purchased and found. Lots of agates for me! Lol. I love collecting thumbnails. My favorite stibnite is a small thumbnail...but it has the bluest, brightest luster I've ever seen. It might not count cuz I dug the foam out of the cube so it'd fit in the perky box. Will this still count as a "thumbnail"? Lmao. Not competing but curious
I love my self collected ones. Your sc wulfenite is beautiful. My fav wulfenite thumbnail is from same mine. Not self collected tho...but it has huge mimetite and wulfenite gemmy crystals, along with the typical mimetite "balls" as you described
@@ImaginationHobbies I did get it in ;) after digging the corner out and angling it. I'm really enjoying your collection (still watching through...). Just got to your hemimorphite. My hemimorphite cluster is one of my favs too, I agree w you. Theyre so beautiful. I also have a really nice scolecite that I love , as far as impressive samples I have .
Did you know the late jane girard? She was from louisville and set up at the tucson show each year. I use to buy from her in the late 70s yo the early 80s
Pala gem mine has a great intro to collecting thing. They let you screen material. I've done it before and found aquamarine, kunzite, tourmaline, and quartz. Good first time thing, it's about $100 though from what I remember. Also the California state gem mine has Benitoite but I wouldn't drive too far because it's honestly picked pretty clean.
Amazing!! You have a serious quality thumbnail collection ! I really like the way you explain your point of view on a mineral collection, pretty interesting ! I'll follow you on Instagram ! 🙂
Absolutely beautiful pieces in your collection i have a question and you may have an answer, how do you restore the luster and shine on metallic minerals like pyrite, stibnite and silver pieces
Hello friend. Nice collection. It's rare to find a video that I like to watch intently. I was wondering, where does one get those clear plastic bases to put minerals on? I have a glass case but I would rather have the bases so I don't scratch any glass. Thanks in advance and very nice collection
Thank you so much! Please subscribe I am posting a new mineral video soon and check out my mineral playlist. The bases are from khyber minerals. They have a website to order from.
@sandiago7564 sorry, best of luck. Maybe stone throne has none custom options. I get my bases from khyber and I pay $2.50 per 1x1x3/4 And up from there based on size.

Very nice collection. Just a note that the Herkimer Diamond vein extends into Ontario Canada, so you can find Herkimer's in Canada.
Thanks! Oh, super cool, I didn't know that!
i learned so much just listening to u talk about your pieces, thank you

You have some *really* nice wulfenite, and I absolutely love the demantoid garnet! Still working my way through your mineral playlist and subbed. 🙂👍
Really interesting about the gem clear cerusite being used for chandeliers also.

Thank you so much! I thought it was similar to epidote as well but there are some different characteristics it has. It's tough to say.
Let me know what you think of my other mineral collection videos! Check out my playlist 😁
Yes, i have collected for 45 years, bought and self collected. Have also displayed at the main show in Tucson for 7 years.
Awesome! Do you still display? I just put my application in to do it again this year 😁
@kevindeleon19892 we are invited again this year but I don't know if we will be able to display this time.

Are you able to take the crystal off the display stand or is ot glued to it?
They are lightly hot glued on. Most can come off easily or at worst need warm water.
