I remember Pastor John took time to shake people’s hand , during a roller skate for the church . I was putting my skates on he came and sat by me and took the time to hear me and pray for me . He took the time now a days you got pastors with security and a don’t touch me Attitude . Learned a lot with him and reading from the Bible .
Joel Osteen takes the Word of God and break it down to its simpliest form so the masses can understand. That seems to be his gift. His style of preaching is authentic and very effective, he is being himself. I would not compare Joel with his dad. Comparison is a theif, it is not good to compare yourself or compare anyone else with anyone. you should not take your weakness and compare it with someone else's strenght. Focus on your strenght and don't compare yourself with anyone.
My friend I'm sorry but I don't agree with you. The purpose of the gospel is to bring awareness of heaven n hell (especially hell). Between heaven n hell, the Lord Jesus spoke MORE ABOUT HELL. If the objective of a preacher isn't the same... then that preacher is not Jesus servant. (John 12: 26)
Very true Orlando! Comparison is a thief! I like the saying "It's unfair to compare." Every thing has its individual pros and cons. You're right Joel has an excellent way of making bible stories come to life and delivers them with such profound emotion, humanism and detail that they move you and make your understand situations and events so much greater.

Today, I finally checked out the father of Joel Osteen. I am blown away but this guy. How i missed him all of these years I don't know. But he was GREAT. Simple, not slick, straight talk, and positive.
I will not forget how my life was transformed by the power of God to the praise of His name after reading John Osteen's book, the #1 Authority of the Believer. That was in 1988 at a high school in Nigeria. Praise God I have never been the same since then and I am still growing by His grace every day. Hallelujah!

Attended in '83 to 84.Then started traveling with an evangelist.Miss him,he was so gifted and annointed.One of a kind pastor and could be very tough.He spoke out against sexual sin often.
Tom Jackson , 1983 when I graduated from high school and I was a fairly new Christian still learning then and reading scripture often and had a pocket bible with me in school to have it to read. Was a small entire imitation leather bible that can fit in the pocket . I marked verses in it with a colored pencil as a highliter . Now i have many bibles to study with at home but i wish i knew what i know now for back then which would make it more interesting . I was not as highly smart as other kids then is why. I rarely got an A as a grade but got a few of them before graduating.

The word has been soo powerful and encouraging 👏 to me, I wish that I knew him before. But still even now the word is timely because Jesus is the same today as He was in time past. John Osteen was called to preach the way that he did and Joel Osteen is called to preach the way that he preaches. If God wanted Joel to preach like his dad then God would have anointed him to do so. And may the truth be told God is using Joel to bring many much more into salvation. The Lord is good!

When I started reading it, I had to stand up and spoke it out loud! as I read it! Wow! Wow! Wow! Energized by God spoken word!!!

I watched daddy Osteen long ago but I was so new in my walk. Watching now I'm all worked up - he preached the WORD so strongly!! I can't wait to watch these again and again and share them. Praise GOD!

Something to definitely pray about. The "political correctness" trash has caused the Gospel to be "watered down" so no one is "offended" and you know, sister, that is NONSENSE! Never should God's truth be watered down! It's *SO refreshing* to at long last, see a TRUE sister in the Lord notice that the Lord's power and truth not being preached and speak out about it! It *hurts* me to say it, but the "Christians in name only" are out in droves and think the watering down of the truth is either okay or it's a GOOD thing! They have no idea, sister, no idea! I listen to OLD preachers on here just to hear it! (Leonard Ravenhill and David Wilkerson are SO GOOD!) TRUE men of God in their day who preached God's truth straight from the Holy Spirit!

In 1998, my son Jean Paul had cancer in the blood, and Mrs. Dotty you Pastor John prayed in the service for him , gave a word about him and he was healed. He was 2 years old. He is 22 years now. Thank you both for you, by the power of the Lord Jesus. My favorite sermon is The Blood of Jesus!!! Praise the Lord.

And learn to Love! Go to a church that preaches Love!

The word has been soo powerful and encouraging 👏 to me, I wish that I knew him before. But still even now the word is timely because Jesus is the same today as He was in time past. John Osteen was called to preach the way that he did and Joel Osteen is called to preach the way that he preaches. If God wanted Joel to preach like his dad then God would have anointed him to do so. And may the truth be told God is using Joel to bring many much more into salvation. The Lord is good!

And Lakewood has amazing, powerful associate ministers that preach the word. Pastor Lisa Osteen sounds just like a female version of her daddy.
Alot of folk compares Joel to John. Be careful. I never would have known about John Osteen if it was not for his precious son Joel. Thank you father for Joel Osteen and his father John. Father, please continue to bless Joel, his family and his ministry. Again be careful, no father likes others putting his son down. If you are concerned, then pray. Be blessed!
Our Heavenly Father is more concerned if people REPENT and turn from their sins than to worry if someone got their feelings hurt! READ more verses than just "do not judge"
