The most remarkable thing about this video is how a guy that works at a fish store can afford a full on house with a full on yard. In USA he’d be living with two roommates in a studio apartment and eating ramen.
There's probably not a lot of examples. You need to be very successful.
You have Aquarium Co-Op fro US, Cory is very successful but it also took some time to earn everything.
They all used to live together if that makes it any easier to comprehend 😂😂
Ikr. I live in US also and worked as the head manager at a restaurant in my 20s. Shared an apartment with two people and lived on ramen for years. Doing well now but it was a struggle. Maybe I need to send my kids overseas.

I agree! I'm keen to try a DIY background when I get a bigger tank than what I currently have, and I'd love to see how he puts his together. I've never seen anyone do the pleco caves and embed wood in these before!
Hi Jake, MD asked me whether we'd taken any footage when we made these initial ones for the aquarium, which we did not. However following the outpouring of comments on here Sam and I will be trying to video and document the construction of the backgrounds for the pond for MD to be able to use in future updates (apologies now for the slight discrepancy you'll see in camera work 😅)

Fantastic! I have a 2,500 gallon water feature pond. 2 waterfalls and 3.5 feet deep. Gerard Touhey designed the pond and built it. He will fly to where you live to build your pond. Best thing that we ever did. The outside pond will bring enjoyment and relaxation. Cannot wait to see the the outcome build!

I think a UK native fish tank would be really cool. Stickleback, Gudgeon, minnow, ruffe, small roach and rudd etc. Would he really cool to see you make a UK natural tank

This is going to be amazing! I’ve had white cloud mountain minnows living in a small 115 litre wildlife pond for over two years now and they’re still going strong. In fact they’ve outlived some of the indoor minnows I’ve had!
I always thought they would struggle with freezing conditions over winter?
@@andywait9491 not a fish expert but I would assume they’d be okay in slightly warmer climates and don’t mind the temperature drop, plus most carp and minnow species are just built completely different, hence why goldfish can be super invasive in some areas when abandoned… super hardy fish
I have endlers who escaped capture fall a year ago.
Imagine my surprise when I set up the pond again this spring, when baby endlers greeted me 😮
I hadn't used a heater with them for 2 years prior to their winter outside, so used to temp swings between 55° F to 80° F.
I didn't expect them to survive a winter outside, though. Definitely didn't expect them to breed below 60° F, and not when ice had formed on the top over the winter.
I'm guessing under water lighting provided warm spots sufficient for survival.
I really cant wait to see what he does with that pond it's going to look amazing.
This is going to be another epic series I can't wait for the rest of the videos! 💜

I don't know how it works but to me it seems like whoever is the big boss man with the budget behind Maidenhead Aquatics is loving what you and Matt are doing up in Taunton right now because since you started collabing the Southport store has started to make some display tanks and sell extra things such as media bags, more wood and have a little Scape area to try out hardscape before you buy and I think they have started on stones/gravel mixtures as well and way before this I asked them if they had heard of you and they said no but what's going on up in Taunton seems to be having an affect up here in the North 😊
haha. Yeah I get asked all the time by other Maidenhead stores to come and film / build but I am loyal to matt 😁. If he comes with...it's game on. Personally, If I was the owner of Maidenhead, i'd be all over Matt and he would be running the show for their social media. He's massively knowledgeable and extremely likeable. The perfect face for a company, I've taught him / am teaching him the RUclips game to the best of my knowledge and has his own insta / youtube that's growing very very fast. Would seem a no brainer to me...
@@MDFishTanks He certainly is a likeable chap, has the knowledge and seems as friendly as they come. Not gonna lie the staff in my local one are rubbish, they look miserable, they could never answer my questions when I was starting out and the manager even walked off once when I wasnt even done talking to him because he didn't know the answer. Not to mention they aaaalways have some dead fish in their tanks. I don't know if they all use the same breeders and I understand that sometimes some are probably lost but it's constant and I've even told them before err that doesn't look great does it, the dead fish and they're like oh right yeah I'll get that out now! 🤣
@@shaunbates49 to be fair Shaun. In defence of any fish store, you import thousands of fish, there will definitely be some unfortunate ones that don't make it. Some fish just do not react well to the stress unfortunately. This is the same for every single fish shop in any store around the world. But it is the shops duty to be on top of it. It's not large percentage, but it does happen.
My experiences with a certain maidenhead store is one of utter horror.
Filthy overstocked tanks , shabby looking fish.

Hi there noodle, this is Martin. It is indeed cat proofed, we wanted to give our house cats (a Bengal and a Siamese) access to an outdoor space, and this was the easiest and most attractive way of doing it. The system we used has come from a company called Katzecure

Mountain minnows will be fine outside. I keep some in a barrel pond and they survived last winter in the South West. They had babies this year 😁

I love his cube tank! I bought a 35 gallon cube tank recently and haven’t set it up yet because I’m not sure what kind of scape to do. I’ve been thinking of foaming in a 3D background and attaching lava rocks to it
