Star sports need to learn a lot from fox sports australia. The quality of broadcast from Australia is top notch. They even have 4k live broadcast in australia.
He nicely dodged the critical question. Best data does not mean best prediction. Model that predict ball trajectory seems to have unacceptably high degree of error.
The telecast and broadcast by Packers during the early stages of benson & Hedges 20-25years back was top notch ,these days only DRS is new technology having good frames which works faster
They should put a screen behind the stumps which marks where the ball hit and then compare it to where the DRS predicted it to hit. That way the accuracy can be put to check.
@@biggzbiggz5431 I think you use 'people' when you want to refer to a group as a whole and don't care about one specific person, whereas you use 'perons' when you want to give attention to each individual in the group.
'We are not doing the predicting, the system's doing the predicting, and that's based off the data we collect...and we are confident that the data we collect is spot on' says the guy on being questioned the accuracy of predicting the trajectory. He missed an important step though - the algorithm that determines the trajectory based off of the data. What factors does the algorithm take into account? How does it decide which factors to weigh in more and which to ignore depending on the situation e.g. one of the factors that defines the trajectory is the condition of the ball, a new ball bounces more than an old one; also a new ball on the same pitch on the same spot from the bowler at the same speed may bounce differently depending on whether it's the first over on the pitch or the 91st (pitch deteriorates as the game progresses). How relevant is the new ball data for a 45 over old ball. There are a thousand permutation and combinations that can be run through all these factors. It's all about the algorithm.
mathematical modelling and Ball 3D tracking calculation need significant improvements with the combination use of CFD simulation, mathematical function analysis and other tools.
It wasn't conclusive because you couldn't say clearly that it was hitting glove or did it just hit the elbow guard it looked it hit but umpire wasn't 100%sure and hence the decision
PCB already try it on general level.... But we need learn a lot from fox Cricket we live in advance technology unfortunately We are not able to run the world with technology.. 😢
its because of the computers running to process those data and calculate the ball tracking etc. They take enormous amount of computing power, so producing heat...
How on field umpire can judge such decisions when it takes so many cameras, calculations, data and technology to have a correct decision. All LbW's decisions should have to be given by third umpire instead of field umpire
Although millions are invested to collect these data to represent wise and accurate decisions, ICC should also think wisely to implement consistent alternatives with decision making technologies. For example, you can't analyze a dismissal with snicko meter where you have a huge crowd rumbling the arena. Because the impact of such sound is also captured in snicko. So why not eradicate that system and replace hotspot permanently in all games? Believe me, its a thermal image based camera, much effective than snicko and cost saving too.
Orrr... They can ditch the snicko and use UltraEdge which filters out all the background noise and gives a clean flat line and a spike if someone has nicked the ball.
Welcome to the world of digital signal processing. Here, we can filter any type of signal using alot of mathematical calculation. It's an entire course in engineering
They might have best technology to track but they have power to decide whats umpire’s call and what not IN THEIR HANDS... that decides a lot of decisions actually than just ball tracking post impact
What about varying conditions of the pitch during a whole 100 over match ? bounce and spin vary depending on the spot where it lands and the same spots could yield a different degree of bounce/spin during the second innings so how is this calculated?
@@dansykes4965 It captures only center point of ball.. degree of bounce doesn't matter here because it will capture center point of ball in every frame till it reaches the batsman from bowler hand and it will predict whether it will hit the stumps or not accurately.. You can also notice, it captures swing and seam movement of ball accurately, so varying condition of pitch doesn't matter as it just capture every individual ball center point so no machine learning involved here.. In my opinion this DRS system is accurate

How do they decide which way the ball turns and how much does it bounce? Especially with spinners in contention. Is it done manually?
Depending on trajectory
