I am a crafter specializing in sewing, crochet & bead weaving. I recently lost one eye to an accident so it's hard to craft right now. But I can still see well enough to crochet & I have renewed vigor with your projects. Thank you.
I've made 4 of these as gifts and everyone loves them! Thanks so much for sharing this fabulous pattern. Now to make one for myself!
Joanne's has the bernat cakes on sale for 7.99 this weekend, I got 3 different colors, can't wait to get started.
GORGEOUS!!! ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! I just found your channel and I'm telling you, I could not subscribe fast enough. I'm purchasing all the materials to make this. I have so many other wips going on. They will go on hold once I make two of these. My daughter (31) loves pink & big bags. So do I. Thank you so much for sharing! Now to watch your Artisian Market Bag...lol x
I have made 12 of these, and they sell easy. I found a two pack deal for the yarn. Each cake makes one... the obstacle is getting the faux leather straps. Amazon is constantly out of the type you use. I have made my straps using the Romanian Cord stitch. Love the ease of pattern, and quick results! I also added a D-ring on one strap and I dangle a tassel or charm that I've made. It's a nice 'bling' to enhance the sale.
How much do you sell them for?
I am so glad I found you! You calm me, make me feel good, and I feel your energy. The plus is your lovely down to earth patterns. Thank you so much
I just bought three colors, and i'm going to give this a go as soon as it arrives from Amazon!
I’m thinking of using T-shirt yarn and maybe slightly smaller in width and using 3 colors.
Just found this tutorial. I have three cakes of this yarn (different colorway with red/pinks) and now I know exactly what to do with it! Thanks again - your book should be delivered in the next day or so. I have already made three of your baskets.
Hi Susan, you can never have enough (big) bags. It's really nice to have a different and useful project to crochet. I'm a self-confessed bag lady so I will make this cool bag for sure...thank you ! 😊❤
OMG! I am a bag lady for sure. I have so many bags and totes but not purses. I am the Imelda Marcos of bags. Lol. My husband hates it.
This is the second video I’ve watched today. I’m hooked. Already half way done with my basket and this is going to be my next project!
You're a good teacher ❤
Thank you specifically for giving a quick overview of the pattern before diving into the details! That’s so helpful! This bag is adorable!
What a wonderful woman you are! Thank you so much for all your detailed information❤️
God bless you and keep on shining and love your giggles too!
A beautiful and well made tote bag. Your directions are so clear and easy to follow, a beginner should have no trouble making their own. Thanks for sharing.
I agree, it’s my first time trying crochet, I could follow her until the end and then I don’t know how to end it? Any tips? Thank you.
Great pattern,I’m glad to have found you, I bought your book a few months ago but only just found you on you tube, wonderful xxx
Cannot wait to start one of your projects. Thank you.
Oh my word 😁 this is simply beautiful 💞 Thank you!
I love your tutorials. They very easy and the materials are easy to find. I like easy patterns because the are so relaxing and enjoyable. Thank you Susan, for such beautiful fun projects. Please keep them coming.
Had to go and buy your new book. I am pretty bad at reading patterns and the color switching in patterns is tricky for me but I can crochet pretty darn good, so let this book be a help to me. Plus the beautiful landscapes and colorful crochet art is so beautiful to look at.
Thank you for your support! 💗
I love this bag. Thank you so very much.
Luv this tote 👛! Your patterns and style of teaching are so relaxing:) ☺️
You’re just a wonderful teacher 😃👍
Thank you for introducing me to this yarn! Yes! Very huggable.
OooOOOOoooo! I like this. I've been looking for projects to use up my fuzzy yarn. This is great.

You have the best tutorials. Thank you. Made the bag and baskets. New subbie 😊
Thank you for sharing! I appreciate the video because I’ve had trouble making oval crochet shapes before. Your video is so helpful! Thank you! I can’t wait to give this a try!
Love this!!! Ordered the yarn today and I’m impatiently waiting for it to arrive so I can make a couple of these 😀
I love the bags!
This is my first time on your channel. Love all your items. Love the way you explain the item overall. I've noticed you are very colorful with your items. Love it!! Will start crocheting the squishy bag. Thank you
Beautiful Tote, and such beautiful yarn@
Beautiful!
This is super nice! I have Bernat Baby Blanket Dappled that I'm going to use. Just have to get some straps. Thank you so much for sharing this with us 🥰 I love the scenery!🥰
Love your book! (and this pattern)
So well explained! I was not paying full attention as I’m doing a blanket but was still able to follow. Thanks!❤
Love this bag😍 immediately got up (3 am), grabbed my Beeswax color-way and crocheted the first 4 rows with you. Thanks!
I have been looking for a pattern to use chenille-type cake yarns, this bag is lovely! Thank you for sharing

Can’t wait to make one of these! 😊

thrilled to order your book - you show our state very well - nicely done
What a great idea!
I just found your channel. I love making bags & I love your patterns especially this oval shape one. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing the written pattern. I just need to figure out which bag to start on 1 st now. 😊
Love your book.❤
Thanks for the the video. Was wondering what I was going to do with the Bernat Blanket skeins I have. This is the answer!
So adorable 😊
I’m in love with this tote! I’m going to hop on over to Joann’s and grab some yarn. Thank you Susan for this awesome tutorial. This beautiful bag is sure going to come in mighty useful. ❤gayle
Thank you for showing how to put the handles. ❤
I love this! Thank you 😊
I immediately ordered the yarn and just finished the tote. Thank you for great directions. 😊
Yay!! I hope you love it.
Love the color
Maybe there's hope for me. I've been trying to learn for years I can knit anything but struggle with crochet. Your instructions look good.
Sooo pretty
Very Pretty
I love it! ❤
Love it! 😍
Hello Susa. My first time to visit your channel. Love the tote & gradient. Will go to JoAnn's tomorrow & buy yarn Think I might line tote & maybe add simple pocket in lining ...a friend in Texas...PS, did I say I LOVE totes - can't have enough. Thank you!
I ordered your book and it comes today. Super excited.
I got my book after Xmas ❤ I'm on my second blanket. I love it❤
Thank you for your support! 💗
I kid you not, I went straight to Joann’s after your video. Gonna make this bag. Thanks for tutorial and pattern
Nice! I wish Joann was closer to me. I would go get another skein and make a double-sized big beach tote! It’s about 3 hours round trip to the closest yarn store so I don’t get to go very often. Happy crocheting!!
@@prettypeacefulcrochetmine turned out 20”…..could have been a beach bag. I pulled it all out and will start again. I’m thinking my tension was too loose. Or like I mentioned above…..the darn oval increases get me all the time.
Thank you i love that will try to do ❤❤❤
Good morning. I made my tote and I love it. Made a small change making the top a little smaller in width from the bottom. I used J hook and bernat blanket yarn I had on hand. Thanks so much for the pattern.
Can't seem to send a picture. Sorry
I just love everything you do (creative crochet 🧶) you are awesome thank you for all you teach. Great teacher. Love your Colorado background ❤❤❤❤❤
Hello very pretty purse I will be making this purse .
Hello from Warrenton Va. Love your content. Order my yarn and straps.
Girl you have such great creations 😊. I do not like the chenille yarn but the color scheme is awesome 😮❤
I ran into my yarn castle, 😊, picked out some beautiful peachy blanket yarn and im already 1/3 done!!! Thank you so so much ❤️ I just love this!
Im going to use old leather belts, cut to length, for handles!
Yarn castle?! I love it! Great idea to upcycle a leather belt.
@@prettypeacefulcrochet
Oh my goodness...so I don't necessarily like this type of yarn but of course I have a ton of it! Lol😅
I have made 2 bags....girl I love how it turns out!!!! The sturdiness of the bag is awesome!
I love this pattern! My sister in laws, nieces and my friends will love this bag! Thank you so much!
You could make many more bag patterns, I would love it😉😊😊😊😊💜🧶
BTW, the belt works awesome for the handles. A little cutting, poking holes etc and you got a leather handle!
I am going to line a bag with some sort of plastic. My sister in law swims/exercises every day in a pool so I know that she would like a bag that can carry her wet clothes home without seeping wetness through. Sooooo I'm thinking about how and what to line it with. Any ideas???
Thank you again for this tutorial!
A side note......our weather has been so very different here this yr in Minnesota. I've lived here all my life, (45yrs) my husband too, and we've never, ever have had a winter like this. I see your beautiful snow and am so jealous, lol! Was your weather different this winter?
@@katiej.fromminnesota8301 Yay! I am so glad you are enjoying this project idea! For the waterproof lining, I would try some PUL fabric like people use to sew cloth diapers. It's polyurethane laminate (PUL). There are some cute PUL prints at Joann in the kids fabric section. Our winter has been pretty typical here in the CO mountains, snowy and cold. A few years ago we got 12 feet of snow just in February and we had to shovel our roof a few times but we've only had about 2 feet of snow so far this month. I'm ready for more snow! ❄❄❄
Hello, Ms. Susan. I'm fairly new to your channel. Thank you for a great tutorial. I found your channel through another podcaster here on RUclips. I purchased your book all most a year ago. I never knew you had a channel until they said something. I look forward to seeing more. I wanted to say hello. Hello from Colorado Springs Co. Lol, I'm also in Colorado as well. 😊
Hi!! Thank you for your support! 💗
Nice bag. I can’t see this bag being sturdy enough since blanket yarn is so soft
Thanks! The smaller hook makes a really tight fabric. I’ve been using it to carry my crochet projects around town. So far, so good!
Thank you
I ♥️♥️♥️ these totes❣️ I don’t crochet🥲.
Yet another super cute pattern!! I found so many bag handles in clearance sections for like a dollar so im set to make one!! Thanks again ❤
P.s. you cut yr hair!! Looks super cute❤
Thank you! I didn’t mean to get it cut so short!!
Hi, I have not crocheted in years but loved your patterns and thought I would give it a try. I followed you video (which was great) had the correct number of stitches at the end of the increases but it is coming out so much larger than yours. I figured I would try again but would appreciate any guidance as to hook size. Should I go down one or two sizes? The bag measured apprx 20-21 inches.
Thanks
Like the bag very much, but need to find a different yarn or combination of yarns, as I would want to make it from natural fibres.
Leather straps stretch because of the way they are cut. Leather has a grain.
Very nice thank you for sharing so pretty❤
Anyone noice this Killer bag she has for her needles??? Girl! Share where or sell em to us!
So pretty
Love this bag! Perfect colours. Could you use a webbing strap for this too? Also would the bag need lining?
Thanks! You can definitely use a webbing strap instead. I didn’t feel the need to line mine because the smaller hook makes a nice tight fabric. No danger of anything poking through.
Thank you for your tutorial videos, Pretty Peaceful is an excellent name. Your complete instruction, calm demeanour and and lovely voice make your company most enjoyable. How much would you think a fair price to sell these totes would be in comparison to the Artisan Baskets pricing?
Thank you! I would probably price a tote at $40 to sell where I live in rural southwest Colorado.
@@prettypeacefulcrochet Thank you! I'm in the forest in Water Valley, southwest Alberta, Canada, also pretty peaceful.
Love this, but it does need a lining so it won’t stretch
This is my first crochet item. How did you finish the yarn when you got to the top of the bag? The yarn ended in the middle of the top. Should it end at the side? How do I close it off? Thank you
Hi, do you happen to know how to make one into a poncho?
This is beautiful but that yarn is sorta hard to see, you really have to be careful ❤❤❤❤❤
My bag curved instead of going straight up! Can you tell me what I did wrong? Thanks
Can you use #4 yarn maybe use 3 strands?
Im confused when do u start using both loops to do the sc?
hi! New Mexico friend here. I just finished my first Wind River blanket!! I love it. Do you think hygge yarn would work for that blanket? If so, what hook size would you recommend? Any other tips?
Yay! Hygge yarn would make a lovely Wind River blanket. I would try an 8 mm hook first.
Almost done with my first bag! I’m new to crochet…this bag is a little wider than I’d like it tho. Do I just reduce the original chain by a third if I’d like it to be smaller by a third? (Sorry if dumb question!) I am loving this pattern; super easy to follow!
Thank you! Yes, you can reduce the starting chain from 40 to 27 or so if you want it to be 1/3 less wide. 💗
Does this have a lining?
I love this bag. I’m definitely going to make this 😜
What if I wanted the bag to be a bit wider in width? My beginning chain.. you chained 40 .. do I need to chain an even number for beginning chain to the width I want? 😋
Thanks! You can start with a chain of any number for this bag. Does not have to be an even number. If you want it to be wider, you may want to buy 2 skeins of yarn so you have enough yarn to make it as tall as the sample bag (or taller!).
@@prettypeacefulcrochet
Sounds great 👍 I actually have a bunch of these for other projects but did just order and picked up today 2 more in the purple color for this bag 😛
Love this project, Would wool yarn work.? I often knit with wool then felt it. Thoughts for same with this pattern?
That would be lovely! I felt square and rectangles pretty frequently, but ai don’t have much experience felting other shapes like a bag or bowl. I knitted a wool hat for my husband years ago and tried to felt it. It shortened into a very short, very wide hat!! 😅
On the way back r u only crocheting into 1 or both loops?
