- OPEN ME: We had an amazing first hand tour of Ellen G White Home with Elmshaven Manager, Pastor Abner Castañón.
Located at 125 Glass Mountain Lane, Elmshaven is a museum dedicated to preserving the history of the St. Helena community. From 1900 until her death in 1915, Ellen G. White lived at what is now known as the Ellen White House or Robert Pratt Place. She gained notoriety for her prophetic ministry, which played a key role in the beginning of the Sabbatarian Adventist movement that eventually gave rise to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and for her advocacy in support of the development of medical clinics. Currently in the care of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, this property has been recognized as a National Historic Landmark since 1993 and serves as an important part of the religion's history.
North of downtown St. Helena, on the east side of Glass Mountain Lane, is where you'll find Elmshaven. The main house is a redwood-framed two-story construction with shiplap siding. With a square tower protruding from the rightmost front corner and a pyramidal roof, this building is a vernacular interpretation of Victorian design. The main entry is to the left of the projecting gable section of the main facade, under the protection of a porch with two-tiered ornate railings. Many of the interior fixtures and fittings date back to the building's inception or to Ellen White's tenure as owner. Besides the office, library, and storage vault, the property features a tank house housing the property's big water tank.
Once known as the Robert Pratt Place, Robert H. Pratt constructed this home in 1885. In 1900, Ellen White bought the house and gave it the name "Elmshaven" in honor of the grove of elm trees in the front yard. She passed away at that address in 1915. It is the longest-lasting and best-preserved of White's residences. In 1993, it was officially recognized as a National Historic Landmark.
Elmshaven was almost destroyed by fires in the year 2020.

When I was there in 1963 there were people still alive when Sister White lived at Elmshaven. They remarked that there was an extremely bright light emanating from her bedroom. That bright light was an angel giving her a vision. It happened many times.

It's great to see Adventist believers from Kenya. I am a member of Baha’i community. I grew up in Embu, Kenya. During high school, I read the books of Ellen White. The message in those books gave me direction in life, kept me from drinking, smoking & following other dangerous paths that young people get into. My great great grandmother was the first woman doctor in California. She was Seventh Day Adventist. I wonder if she ever visited Helen G White? She lived on Tucker Street in Healdsburg.

Quite a humble spread! From what I understand there was quite a number in her employ. In comparison, the apostles were itinerant preachers and worked for their keep. More importantly, our Lord had no place to lay His head.
Hope you are not implying she should live in a tent or on the streets? I am not an Adventist, but people should have a place to lay their heads. The house is quite simple.
@@laurenmay2098 Hardly! As with most false teachers Ellen White lived VERY well, and many times at the expense of her followers. Believe me, when I was leaving Adventism I had to dig deep and was appalled at the real story. I am just so very grateful to my Lord and Savior for His saving grace-I did not know what the Gospel was until I left-it’s a very works oriented religion, as are all cults. Blessings!
Jesus was born in manger but lived with his parents IN A HOUSE for 30 years before His public ministry. Ellen G White spent around 29 years traveling and being away from home during her lifetime. It cannot be compared with Jesus, but certainly something worth considering.

I'll tell, is called living in sin, while deceiving yourself that Jesus is your master. It is a gospel destitute of the power of God to enable you to live a victorious life.

I Corinthians 15:1-5, stating that when we believe the facts of our Lord’s life, death, burial and resurrection and that there is absolutely nothing I can do to save myself, but believe on the Name of Jesus and follow him, I felt like Christian in Pilgrim’s Progress, my burden was loosed and I was free in Christ. (Up to that point the Gospel was some convoluted thing, something to do with the The three angels’ messages). The other thing that really blew me away was Romans 8 (some refer to that chapter as the Cathedral of the Christian Faith) and especially toward the end where God says NOTHING can separate us from the Love of God and that He will never let go of us. Beautiful promises! I grew up with the belief that “one should never say they are saved”, not true according to Scripture! I am a new creature, adopted into God’s family and safe in Him. What Christ did for us is so earthshaking, he paid my debt in full and has forgiven me, for past, present and future sins. I do not set out to sin, but I will abide in sinful flesh until he returns and changes me. There is a lot more that could be said, and one thing would be is how much I love and revel in God’s Word-I frankly couldn’t wrap my head around what it was trying to say, especially with other writings in my mind. @@lady-eq9fg Thank you. I was showing how important context is. Do you think Christ was dead for three days and three nights like the scriptures prophesied? Or does the common belief, and denominational tradition, of a Friday crucifixion, over rule what scripture says?
I am not a mathematician, but if Christ died on a Wednesday afternoon and arose on Sunday morning, would put Christ in the grave for three days and three nights.

Can one actually love God and yet hate his Law and Statutes, at the same time? SDA's have ignored the Statutes of the Lord for so long, claiming they were nailed to the cross, similar to Sunday observers claim about the seventh day and the Ten Commandments.
The judgement "DAY" you addressed, does not seem to have anything about an "Investigative Judgement", which is the fundamental purpose for the SDA denomination's existence.
According to the SDA pioneers, Oct. 22, 1844 marked the beginning of the "Investigative Judgement", when the claim is made, Christ passes through the second veil of the heavenly sanctuary as our high Priest.
Are you not aware of the "Investigative Judgement"?

@vaio4908 The SDA is very similar to Joseph Smith! My church was founded in 1830 by Joseph Smith, you're church was founded in 1863 during the Civil War by Ellen White and to other gentlemen. Ellen White said she was a prophetess , Joseph Smith was a Prophet. Joseph Smith had a seventh grade education, and you're church mentions Ellen White only having a third grade education! She wrote 📚 everyone follows, Joseph Smith translated the Book 📖 of Mormon and wrote a few books 📚 on the gospel! But you're church dislikes my church very much and now I'm starting to see why! Our Bishops don't get paid, but yours do! Ellen White talks about having visions, well Joseph Smith had angels 😇 visit him! I know other churches teach against my church especially evangelicals , but the spirit of God is always near me in my church and Temple! I'm sorry if you are so offended by my church, but I have been close to God my entire life, and I feel him around me and he witnessed to me at 4 years old that I'm in the true church. Claiming the devil is the sin Bearer.. and the sins are never blotted out!!!. 1st Peter 2:24 Isaiah 43 verse 25. Hebrews 9:28 all get destroyed by that one statement!
