You've accepted that the vacation is over but you are still really sad that it's coming to an end. That's how all these scenes felt. People in the movie who accepted their fates were partying, crossing things off their bucket list doing drugs and having as much sex as possible because they accepted that their vacation (life) was coming to an end and they were just trying to enjoy it all before it ends. Then there were people like the maid who didn't accept their fate. They kept working they kept with their normal routine they talked like in 21 days the world was still gonna be there because they had yet to accept their fate. That's why steve Carell was so brilliant in this scene. In the beginning he didn't accept his fate. He knew it was gonna happen but he couldn't grasp the idea. This whole movie really got to me, it made me feel sadness from experiences that I never really got to express before. Made me tear up about not just what was happening on screen, but what has happened to me.
I remember back in the day, I watched the movie with a bud of mine and 2 girls(it was 2012 to be precise). I thought it was a funny/entertaining and then that ending got me so bad, I nearly cried(in front of the women)... I've still thought about it here and there(the ending that is). The movie is so underrated, touching and wonderful.
must say i really LOVE this movie the plot and message is very good and so much more real. one of my absolute favorite movies. can watch it several times over.
Rotten tomatoes bashed this movie but I don;t get it. This scene by itself made it really good. Extremely unexpected for Carell to playthis character. Could this movie have been better? Sure. But this movie is still really underrated for me.
I honestly believe the government wouldn't tell us about something like this until its too late. History shows that the government ignores things until they can no longer hide it. E.G 2019/2020
This film is very beautiful and I genuinely think this is how things will go if this happened to us. If we knew there was nothing we could do and we were all going to tap out at the same time.
I watched this when I was 10, when everyone thought the world was ending. This film depressed my little ass off but it’s what expanded my love for film a ton, this and Django: Unchained and Avengers andddd The Dark Knight Rises, I saw all of these in theaters as a kid, and they all shaped my childhood
It's not just that either. The whole scene is done and acted/cast perfectly. Idek why her exactly but keira's beauty and display of emotions works fantastically here. And Steve comes across super genuine. I also love how penny says she thought they would have saved each other somehow. Its as if it breaks the fourth wall in a very very subtle way. And to carry on my other comment, I did enjoy the movie as if it's above average but I still hold that it's fairly average. I think I just love stuff like meteor movies. And regardless of all this I'm rambling about right now, the perfectness of the ending stands anyway and is my main point. God, it's almost too much for a human mind to deal with. Actually I think death quite clearly is too much for so many people's minds to deal with, for real. Hence afterlife beliefs. And the scene can be overwhelming to anyone. Even the most carefree atheist. And it's also so subtle. Okay I'm done. *Cries a little* lol
back when 7/11 was selling dvds is where i saw this and had no idea what is was or who was in it and now after watching it for the first time i have seen it now over 100 times and it is one of the best love stories I have ever seen and the ending always get me such a beautiful ending nothing has been able to top it not even a fault in our stars even thou I like that movie to I always watch this when i need a good smile and a little tear
I finally watched it, and all I want to do now is hold my girlfriend to me. I think I’ve always known I’m going to die first, and the last conversation comforted me, because I’ll know what to say when it’s time. It’ll never be enough time, but god am I grateful for what we’ve got now
The movie is quite average in my opinion but this scene is fantastic. Haunting and a little too real like someone said below. But only too real to be comfortable to watch; it actually hits home really well. (You would in all reality - should you be able to - comfort someone you love in your last moments).
This was such a great scene just because the movie had really good character development from the jump. We saw the relationship build from the start and it was like the acceptance that they were able to find peace in each other in an ending world really hit. The smile at the end to the white screen had me just staring at the screen like 😶
Just watched this tonight for the first time! How have i never heard of this film!!?? Sat up when it cut to black and then the credits came on i was like, yoooooo!!!!!....
the most missunderstood underated films, i know its not from everyone but Steve and Keira really have chemistry in this movie, it wouldnt work if its not them
I imagine a perfect ending, at least for me - a scene with them as two kids playing or just coming across each other, ages before, not even knowing their names.
I dont know how to feel... im scared, sad, yet this just steals my breath away. I made up an alternate ending in my head whereby everyone ended up surviving cuz the only thing the asteroid caused was soundwaves and bright flares from the explosion
There is an added layer of fear when you know that the whole world is dying. In death we find comfort knowing that life will go on and we might be remembered. But when the whole of human memory is dying... you have no comfort, only the biter reality that this is actually the end.

@@Erin-bc8ic And the rest - I don't think it's quite the barrier you're pretending it is!
lakernatic88 it’s a meteorphor 😂😂😂
I just saw this movie today, and holy shit this broke me so freaking much
Underrated as hell 😭
I want a sweet man like Steve to comfort me at night and tell me that he’s madly in love with me
You should be a strong independent woman, who don't need no man for validation.
@Ocean Blue They are the same thing though.
@@A-Dubs398 no they're not I feel sorry for you...
Make yourself the best person you can possibly be and the guy you need shall definitely appear.
Find me a man who looks at me like Dodge does 😍 I would die happy too.
I seen this for the first time today, took everything in me not to cry. Such a lovely movie and this ending is everything
I watched couple of nights ago and I started bawling my eyes out.
i love this line "there is not enough time"..... and he goes "it would never have been..." jesus christ this fucking movie ending....
This is a perfect perfect scene.
This whole movie really got to me, it made me feel sadness from experiences that I never really got to express before. Made me tear up about not just what was happening on screen, but what has happened to me.
Love This Movie.!!
What a flick! What an ending!
This movie gets to me so hard. Never been able to rewatch it. I'll just manage the ending.
I've always had this fear of hearing a noise like that out of the blue one day...
I honestly believe the government wouldn't tell us about something like this until its too late. History shows that the government ignores things until they can no longer hide it. E.G 2019/2020
Why make the last moments we exist something to fear? There’s no point in fighting the inevitable. If anything, I’d see it as an act of mercy.
One of the most beautiful endings I've ever seen
Back here after don't look up... this is touched me even after all these years.
This film is very beautiful and I genuinely think this is how things will go if this happened to us. If we knew there was nothing we could do and we were all going to tap out at the same time.
omg where is link and his ocarina when we need him!!! YES I CRIED IN THAT SCENE TOTALLY BREAKES ME
This ending was epic sad and beautiful!!!
I wish I had a love like this, to lay beside a beautiful woman, and know that she loves me :'( I'm crying my eyes out
You know that song, "As the World Caves in"? That's what comes to mind when watching this scene.
Who let you in the theater to see a rated R film? You snuck in?
Kiera knightly acting here is AMAZING. Like holy cow people need to talk about this movie.
back when 7/11 was selling dvds is where i saw this and had no idea what is was or who was in it and now after watching it for the first time i have seen it now over 100 times and it is one of the best love stories I have ever seen and the ending always get me such a beautiful ending nothing has been able to top it not even a fault in our stars even thou I like that movie to I always watch this when i need a good smile and a little tear
I finally watched it, and all I want to do now is hold my girlfriend to me. I think I’ve always known I’m going to die first, and the last conversation comforted me, because I’ll know what to say when it’s time. It’ll never be enough time, but god am I grateful for what we’ve got now
Thank god i watched The Office only AFTER this and could see Steve as another character, not Michael Scott dying in an asteroid impact.
Tears...thx
This movie gave me chills
I have a feeling that this will happen soon im scared af
We would all go out together
Don't worry about it. In reality, we'd know of any world ending meteors YEARS in advance, and it's super easy to deflect them actually.
There is a place my freind, its not the end. Just believe.
Dave Gordon bless you hope you find that place xx
No asteroid big enough to wipe out humanity has a greater than 1 in 10,000 chance of impacting the Earth until 2880.
the most missunderstood underated films, i know its not from everyone
but Steve and Keira really have chemistry in this movie, it wouldnt work if its not them
underrated movie
I just watched "Don't look up" and it reminded me so much of this movie. This movie is one of my favourites
And Melanie Linskey is in both films
This movie is criminally underrated
If the world goes, whats a better way? Laying eyes on the person you love most, as it all envelops into beautiful light. :,)
Man that was a sad ending... really wished the asteroid ending up not hitting and they all actually lived...
There's actually a plausible theory in physics that there are many if not infinite versions of us. It has to do with quantum entanglement.
Love this... But its Way too Beautiful and sad
The best movie released that year, truly.
Charming scene. Not everyone has a chance to be with loved ones in their last moments.
The ending of “don’t look up” movie was similar to this as well
There is an added layer of fear when you know that the whole world is dying. In death we find comfort knowing that life will go on and we might be remembered. But when the whole of human memory is dying... you have no comfort, only the biter reality that this is actually the end.
I was distracted
And in traffic
I didn't feel it
When the earthquake happened
But it really got me thinkin'
Were you out drinkin'?
Were you in the living room
Chillin' watchin' television?
It's been a year now
Think I've figured out how
How to let you go and let communication die out
I know, you know, we know
You weren't down for forever and it's fine
I know, you know, we know
We weren't meant for each other and it's fine
But if the world was ending
You'd come over, right?
You'd come over and you'd stay the night
Would you love me for the hell of it?
All our fears would be irrelevant
If the world was ending
You'd come over, right?
The sky'd be falling and I'd hold you tight
And there wouldn't be a reason why
We would even have to say goodbye
If the world was ending
You'd come over, right?
Right?
If the world was ending
You'd come over, right?
Right?
I tried to imagine
Your reaction
It didn't scare me when the earthquake happened
But it really got me thinkin'
That night we went drinkin'
Stumbled in the house
And didn't make it past the kitchen
Ah, it's been a year now
Think I've figured out how
How to think about you without it rippin' my heart out
I know, you know, we know
You weren't down for forever and it's fine
I know, you know, we know
We weren't meant for each other and it's fine
But if the world was ending
You'd come over, right?
You'd come over and you'd stay the night
Would you love me for the hell of it?
All our fears would be irrelevant
If the world was ending
You'd come over, right?
The sky'd be falling while I'd hold you tight
No, there wouldn't be a reason why
We would even have to say goodbye
If the world was ending
You'd come over, right?
You'd come over, right?
You'd come over, you'd come over, you'd come over, right?
I know, you know, we know
You weren't down for forever and it's fine
I know, you know, we know
We weren't meant for each other and it's fine
But if the world was ending
You'd come over, right?

Would you love me for the hell of it?

You'd come over, you'd come over, you'd come over, right?

Amazing capture my friend.
I really thought there'd be some sort of twist where the world doesn't end after all, but nope. Movie was playing for keeps.
Such a bittersweet ending.
What is the name of the melody????
That glow... they were beamed up by the Enterprise... true story.
Even I watched ONLY this movie clip, I'm seriously disturbed and I had goosebumps
I love this movie. 🥺
This makes me cry every. damn. time.
