A friend and I are looking at buying the same boat and have about the same experience sailing. We do have the ASA 101 and 103 certs on a Pearson 30 in Narragansett Bay. How are things going?
Might be a dumb question…what if the wind is blowing a direction you don’t want to go in? Or is it possible to change that? I know you have a motor but did people back in the day just have to hope that the wind was blowing the right way?
Not a dumb question at all! I didn’t understand how sailing worked before actually trying it last year. You can’t sail directly into the wind so you basically zig zag back and forth (tack and jibe).
@@CelineFerocious You can sail in any direction EXCEPT for directly into the wind (plus or minus about 30 degrees). You do this by changing the position of your sails dependent on the direction of the wind.
So excited to find your channel. We just got a Catalina 30. Love your enthusiasm and your honest approach to evolving as sailors! Best of luck to you
Aw thank you so much! ❤️ hope you have amazing adventures on your Catalina ☺️

@@heyjenniferjones you just need working end hardware but can. Be found all over
You may want to tighten up the Genoa on the furler if it isn’t tight it will foul.
Having fun I see,
did you get the windows fixed yet? oh, and hubby is a lucky man. :)
