  • Muay Thai highlight of legendary technical fighter Samart Payakaroon.
Samart Payakaroon was an elusive technician (muay fimeu) who is considered by many to be the greatest Thai boxer in the history of the sport. He was an elusive technician with great boxing skills who had incredible energy economy and composure.
Samart was so hard to hit that he did not receive a single cut in a 150-fight career; this is extremely rare for a Thai boxer. He used hi famous side-teep to create the perfect distance between him and his opponent, and drew them into his hard hitting knockout punches.
Samart won the Lumpinee title at 105 lbs, 108 lbs, 115 lbs and 126 lbs, and also won the "Fighter of the Year" award 3 times in 1981, 1983 and 1988.

@The Godless there is no way namsaknoi is better than samart or somrak, namsaknoi had never face the adversity that samart or somrak faced. He is really good in 2000's but the level had decline since the 70's 80' and 90's. Namsaknoi fought against guy like saenchai, samkor. Samart fought against guy like dieselnoi, chamuekpet, wangchannoi, that's not on the same level

@The Godless Somrak did not have so many merits and titles in Muay Thai. He made great strides in boxing by winning the Olympic Games. But in Muay Thai, only Dieselnoi can compete with Samart.

@@ManniTaratorn - Yes, Dieselnoi was HUGE, had a complete size and reach advantage and fought Samart in the twilight of his career, when he was focused on music and TV. And Samart STILL gave him a hell of a fight. Samart is in a league of his own, and Sidyodtong said he's never seen another fighter before or since quite like Samart.

Acutally other Thai boxers want to fight with him as if they manage to beat him at the time. They would have risen rocketed through the rank but they know that their chances were slim. Samart was saying this himself a few years when he was interviewed at his thai boxing gym.

Samart fought for a Lumpinee title in 1978, then went on to win titles in four weight classes by 1981, and fought Dieselnoi in 1982. We have none of the footage prior to that fight and the next fight we have is against Wattana Soudareth in 1984. He wouldn’t return from boxing to fight again till 1988. Doesn’t look like either of those fights were shown in this video.

best mauy thai fighter in my opinion is Dieselnoi. he beat samart 2 times, champion of lumpinee until he was force to retire because no one can beat him and he beats everyone, undefeated. 0% loss rate. 2 draws and 110 wins. and this was the golden era of muay thai where all the gods were competing, unlike nowadays. also check out another dude call Namsaknoi, 300 fights with 285 wins and also in the same time of the golden muay thai era. nowaday muay thai fighters just dont compare....

Unlike boxing, there is no such a record in muaythai community. Dieselnoi lost several times as far as I know. One of his famous losses was to Tawee Amphornmaha a 1986 Olympic silver medalist.

What the video doesn’t show is how he masterfully sets them up.
The angle of his teep (and all of his kicks for that matter) is very deceptive
