- Muay Thai highlight of legendary technical fighter Samart Payakaroon.
Samart Payakaroon was an elusive technician (muay fimeu) who is considered by many to be the greatest Thai boxer in the history of the sport. He was an elusive technician with great boxing skills who had incredible energy economy and composure.
Samart was so hard to hit that he did not receive a single cut in a 150-fight career; this is extremely rare for a Thai boxer. He used hi famous side-teep to create the perfect distance between him and his opponent, and drew them into his hard hitting knockout punches.
Samart won the Lumpinee title at 105 lbs, 108 lbs, 115 lbs and 126 lbs, and also won the "Fighter of the Year" award 3 times in 1981, 1983 and 1988.

Thai people believe Samart is the best of Muay Thai all the time and Thai boxer respect him likes teacher.
all riht He is intelligent.
@The Godless
samart him is mauythai No.1in thailand.
Fro me somrak no.2 deferent really.
@The Godless
Namsaknio deferentform samart payakaron in thailand.
Samart him is the best of the best forever in mauythai.
@The Godless there is no way namsaknoi is better than samart or somrak, namsaknoi had never face the adversity that samart or somrak faced. He is really good in 2000's but the level had decline since the 70's 80' and 90's. Namsaknoi fought against guy like saenchai, samkor. Samart fought against guy like dieselnoi, chamuekpet, wangchannoi, that's not on the same level
@The Godless Somrak did not have so many merits and titles in Muay Thai. He made great strides in boxing by winning the Olympic Games. But in Muay Thai, only Dieselnoi can compete with Samart.
he's so relaxed and unpredictable. dangerous combination
Fr
add in his flexibility that makes him versatile
he may not have overwhelming power
but he can kick and punch from everywhere! which is scarier than a one trick pony KO artist
Iam better than samartruclips.net/user/shortsRAncIQgwVyE?si=x6xZhpbkkyzmTboy
I am a one trick pony artist. I'll just wait for the time to KO when I spar..But not KO obviously.
Street fight, I'm full steam ahead. Deception is more abled in controlled sparring. In a street fight you need a KO. @@OliverOils
what a samart guy
I see what you did there after two years
nice
Legend muay thai
Wkwk yup thats rights
Hahaha
If you ask Thai who is the best muay Thai fighter in Thailand. His name will come up !!! In the past no one fight with him anymore in muay Thai rules , he can’t make money from Muay Thai so he has to move to boxing , he own like 5-6 Muay Thai champion belt. Imagine no boxer in Thailand wanna have a match with him, no one
That’s right! He then got into singing and acting a little later on.
Diesel Noi is a lot bigger than Samart, 2-3 bigger wieght class.
@@ManniTaratorn - Yes, Dieselnoi was HUGE, had a complete size and reach advantage and fought Samart in the twilight of his career, when he was focused on music and TV. And Samart STILL gave him a hell of a fight. Samart is in a league of his own, and Sidyodtong said he's never seen another fighter before or since quite like Samart.
Acutally other Thai boxers want to fight with him as if they manage to beat him at the time. They would have risen rocketed through the rank but they know that their chances were slim. Samart was saying this himself a few years when he was interviewed at his thai boxing gym.
@@k-dash7245 that's not accurate. They actually fought during Samart's peak, before he switched to boxing etc.
And Dieselnoi had to cut a lot of weight to fight his friend, he was out of energy, and still Samart couldn't do much haha. No wonder why, Dieselnoi was a beast, they are both GOAT
He wasn’t your typical Thai fighter, plodding forward with a solid guard and brutal kicks. He was like a technical maestro, beautiful boxing incorporated into Thai fighting🎉
hands down, this man is the greatest muay thai fighter of all time
litterally hands down
Got the boxers hands makes him so much smarter and unpredictable
Tom Lloyd don't you mean samarter? :D
He is the best, his dont need hands defence)
Somrak is the best
What's amazing about Samart footage is that most of it comes from the time were he was past his prime
what color trunks from this would you say he was in his prime
Samart fought for a Lumpinee title in 1978, then went on to win titles in four weight classes by 1981, and fought Dieselnoi in 1982. We have none of the footage prior to that fight and the next fight we have is against Wattana Soudareth in 1984. He wouldn’t return from boxing to fight again till 1988. Doesn’t look like either of those fights were shown in this video.
If this man had been in his prime today I'm 100% sure he'd be a major star
Yes he’s super star 1990-2000+
He has always been the muay thai major star, but at that time muay thai hadn’t been recognized outside Thailand yet. Only Thai people know him very well.
I remember i saw this fight, whos style is similar to him but the ref keeps asking him to step up for action since he likes to bait backwards and teep so much
He probably be an ufc champion
💯
He looks incredibly relaxed
ha ha ha Agree, I noticed that too. Seems like a window shopping somehow.
becoz that exp he got,he have 400++ compettition match
Nope. It's because how great he was.
@@jovanleon7
absolutely.
I think so.
He has a nickname of Phetchakhat na yok
(เพชฌฆาตหน้าหยก). He got this nickname becasue he barely got his face punched, and always has a clean face after the end of every fight. His eyeside was pretty sharp, he moves away from punches and kicks from his opponents like he sees it before it happen.
Relaxed! Skillful! What amazing reflexes! That's why he became WBC boxing champ aswell!
I came here from the Manga "Karate shoukoushi", there is a badass character with the same name as Samart
I shall look it up
Samaaaaarrrtt Sirintooooooooo~ ( ^o^)/
Loved that manga
Yo same
Me too wtfff
Samart; defencive and counterattack-master; a tactician of the highest level. Am a huge fan of this nak muay. His use of angles, deception and counterattack are truly superb. And how brilliant his timing, and expert use of the teep...Absolutely awesome. Max respect.
That's exactly what I thought the whole time! You brought these facts into words for me. Thanks for that!
he's also has a punch-liked Mike Tyson bro
he really uses awkward timing to the fullest. not throwing just to throw but waiting until he knows he can land
Music fits perfectly. This dude lives in the fucking matrix.
The Best. Best Vision and obviously the best boxing. Fun to see how he has the boxing stance every now and then in the Thai Fights.
he doesn't use a boxing stance, all his stances are from muay thai
Without a doubt. He dominated Muay Thai a striking art when there were actually strikers instead of what we have nowadays a bunch of faux-wrestlers. Payakaroon = multiple time Lumpinee champ + WBC champ.
Most foreigners will think Sanchai and Buakaw are the best, but for Thais, Samart and Somrak are the best Muay Thai fighters ever. They were so good that they couldn't find anyone to fight with at such a young age that they had to move to international boxing instead.
Best fighter ever. Muay Thai world champion and WBC boxing champion at the same time. Unreal.
The Muhammad Ali or even "Sugar Ray" of Muay Thai!
Reiji Minato without taking enough hits to get cte or Parkinson’s
He sure is.
Ali held on much more in boxing than Samart did in Muay Thai. Samart also knocked out Lupe Pintor to become WBC junior featherweight champion, and acted in his spare time. Some people are just special.
@The Godless bro what are u on about?
@The Godless how is Muhammed ail a slaves name? he picked his own name which he had the freedom too
So calm, so calculated, so swift...
Real pleasure to watch
your editing and music selection is excellent. very entertaining for fight fans
3:39 - 3:45 damn that fast reaction time.
Just how complete of a fighter he was under Muay Thai rules is scary. So far ahead of his time.
muay thai rules is best rules
If One Piece's Katakuri is real, Samart would be his counterpart. His delivery of techniques is lightning fast it feels like he can glimpse into the future!
Samart looked so relaxed he could fight with his hands in his pockets and still win with ease.
Quite happy to be in hitting range in the knowledge his amazing speed will get him out of trouble.brilliant video
Love these highlight videos of all these great fighters!!! Keep them coming!
Thanks Marco! More on the way.
Control genius! Great boxing skill as a muay thai fighter.
4:21 THE MATRIX!
Thizlamic He wasn’t even in range
More like ultra instinct
LMFAO
People who bring in Buakaw in this discussion obviously dont know Muay Thai and only watches Eurosport and K-1 Max. There is a difference from good to P4P
This channel is awesome to show all of us who didn't know about these Muay Thai fighters from Thailand. As a Western, I didn't know about these old school Muay Thai fighters. Thanks for sharing with us.
If you want to be trained with Samart (Samartpayakaroongym )this is his gym in Thailand
Jumrang Tangchitsumran, he always regard Kru Yodtong Senan as his grandmaster.
A natural born & gifted Fighter! 👊
Wow! He was such a beast! That last punch should be called the Superman punch because he sent that guy flying!
When I was young . I trained Muay Thai. Kru Muay always say that , don't move too much but stay focus. Samart Payak Arun is supreme of all time.
Best muay thai video on you tube, really appreciated
GOAT is an overused term. But he is the greatest. He made it look so effortless.
Im here because of the manga karate shoukoshi minoru, he was used as a reference for Samart(same name as him) , a muay thai champion
GiniZura Castillo YEA ME TOOO LOL
finally i found this comment lol
🇹🇭 Thailand 2019 ขอเสียงคนไทยด้วยครับ
Phalakorn Yasri +1
"He is considered by many to be the greatest Muay Thai fighter of all time"
Best Muay Thai fighter ever
Love Payakaroon’s style. So well balanced
a legend.. so calm and elegant with supreme technic and great boxing skill but with no cardio
That calmness was needed in fights, I read that his lungs were small for a man his size and being tense and wound up would have been a disaster for his stamina. Samart was a great counter puncher and studied his opponents. His ability to attack without telegraphing his moves were unreal.
One of my top favorite Muay Thai fighter....even did pretty well in Pro boxing too.....true warrior...very precise and technical fighter...
Samart in Thai means "able".
Edit: Yes, the whole Thai language, and it's many dialects, has roots in Sanskrit. lol
True
It means the same in Sanskrit.
@@subhabratadas8419 It's a borrowed word from Sanskrit I believe.
Samarth is also a sanskrit word. Exact same meaning.
You know why hes not having alot of fight like buakaw? Just a 100 match. Because hard to find opponent for him.
Keep in mind he crossed over to professional boxing and won the world title. That says a LOT about his fight IQ. There is no question he would perform just as well today.
he's not strong or agressive like buakaw or fast as saenchai but damn he's so great at using his weapons. what makes him dangerous is his surgical precision and ability to predict his opponents movements. hands down.to. greatest muay thai fighter..
he is faster than Saenchai
Nah saenchai is faster. This guy is technically the best Muay thai fighter
@@Prime_Legend I'm thai and i guarantee Samart is faster than Saenchai but Saenchai attack is harder to predict
Hi Muay Thai Scholar,
Could you please do a video of Somrak Khamsing? I personally think that he is one of the greatest as he cleared the champions of tops stadiums in Thailand despite never being given an oppurtunity at a title shot. Would appreciate it very much if you could do one of him as i love the quality and production value of your videos :)
Sure, Somrak will certainly be getting a highlight :)
a friend of samart, unfortunately they never fight
He was smart. He use boxing in a muay Thai fight. Fucking smart and he became a boxing champ to
He wasn't smart he was Samart, totally a different level of intelligence
As art is truly the best of the best Thaiboxer of all time!
FYI most of footage you see on YT are at the end of his career. many people say his early age fights were simply beautiful but deadly.
This Man Is A Multi Muy /WBC Recognize World Champion
#Facts!!!
Samart definitely is on the list of GOATS for me but I can't say one over another there is so many but what makes Samart special that he was a Muay Femur that excelled in every area and to top it off could do both stances orthodox and southpaw, with perfect technique & timing.
I wonder who is the superior fighter? Samart - the man who cleaned out 4 different weight classes in the most prestigious stadium in Thailand in 2 years, or Somluck - the man who is ranked number 1 in all of the stadium in Thailand with a 97% winrate over 300 muay thai fights. Both of them had excellent boxing with Samart obtaining a WBC title and Somluck with more experience of 200 amateur boxing bouts and the ability to mix boxing and muay thai perfectly.
Somrak has a better, by little as both are extremly difficult to hit, evasion and defense by footwork and head movement I think but Samart is more innovative in countering and has a better control of distance
where did you get Somrak's fight record? That's impossible in muaythai. Most over-exaggerated fairy tale I've ever heard of.
ruclips.net/video/f_cWReC6RIU/видео.html
best mauy thai fighter in my opinion is Dieselnoi. he beat samart 2 times, champion of lumpinee until he was force to retire because no one can beat him and he beats everyone, undefeated. 0% loss rate. 2 draws and 110 wins. and this was the golden era of muay thai where all the gods were competing, unlike nowadays. also check out another dude call Namsaknoi, 300 fights with 285 wins and also in the same time of the golden muay thai era. nowaday muay thai fighters just dont compare....
Unlike boxing, there is no such a record in muaythai community. Dieselnoi lost several times as far as I know. One of his famous losses was to Tawee Amphornmaha a 1986 Olympic silver medalist. Dieselnoi beat Samart once. A top fighter at the welterweight class beating the all time best who's at featherweight is not unexpected.
There is only ONE word to describe Khun Samart: PERFECTION!!
Learning!
Samart best of the best muay Thai legend history, never loss, it's amazing!!
He did lose but his victories outweigh his losses
@@zafarsyed4312 lost to who?, I searched on youtube there was no video that showed Samart had ever lost in a muay thai fight
@@tigerbladesoul5954 dieselnoi
true master of the game
He is a genius of the Thai boxing industry! 100 years, there may be only one person During his heyday No one dared to punch him.
Love his modified side kick
The great bait at the end! And that music👌
Samart Sarindu who is a character in the manga is series called karate shoukoushi was based off this man
How I wish there was videos available from the first part of his thai boxing career before he switched to western boxing.

So calm and relax when fighting
Real Legend of Muay Thai
That uppercut of his is a thing of beauty
Muito boa a luta samart valeu , até mais
Samart Payakaroon is not only a Thai boxing champion He is also a world professional boxing champion WBC super bantamweight
Yeah, boxing is easy when you mastered the art of Muay Thai, he was able to humiliate pro boxer with just a part of his Muay Thai.
🇹🇭🥊👊🏾💥👊🏾🇹🇭🥊the champion of history
This guy is one move ahead of all this opponents. That's samart!
Can't believe this guy exist !
look at Lerdsila
The GOAT
blue shorts at the beginning just seems to forget that a teep is a thing. Just defend the damn teep.
Love Samart, he's fantastic
Came here after seeing a footage of him training Max Holloway.
Samart the KING.
Excellent eyesight
Effortless ✨
The greatest.

The legend, He once was called ''The flawless killer''
his teeps are a joke, he literally pulls them out whenever he wants and always lands lol
What the video doesn’t show is how he masterfully sets them up.
The angle of his teep (and all of his kicks for that matter) is very deceptive
Those teep..
Love em
The master of the Thai side kick
Damn, this guy is Brutal with the non-stop kicks
The legend of muaythai
Samart Payakaroon, the Thai boxer Sagat, and Reiba(the character from "Karate Baka Ichidai" manga series) are the guys that Street Fighter's Sagat are based on.
incorrect, he was based on dieselnoi and named after sagat
That Street Fighter's Sagat was based on a Thai boxer named 'Sagat Petchyindee'
