Hi, I watched your VFLP vlogs. Thank you for the quality content and commentary. One does not get much content from that Camino.
Of note, I arrived in Porto last year on the 28th, took a day to tour Porto on the 29th, and started waking the Coastal Route on the 30th. The first day was all the way to Vila Do Conde, 37kms. I finished up the Primitivo the week prior and then headed down to Porto for the Portuguese Camino. I completed that Camino in 10 days, and I'm sure we crossed paths. I'm looking forward to watching these vlogs.

Awesome. I am leaving this Sept to walk the Camino Primitivo. Not sure if I should take my trail runners or my more sturdy Merrells. Last year I did a portion of the Via Francigena through Switzerland in trail runners and had trouble with traction on the steep and rocky sections when it rained. How were the trails on the primitivo?

@TammyKraft The Primitivo was the dustiest Camino to date. A lot of back country walking. You will need trail runners w lugs and a good wash cloth. I wore Topo Ultraventure Pros and Hoka Challanger. They are suitable.
The first two days out of Oviedo are uneventful, as well as the walk-in from Melide. You would have walked Melide to Santiago previous. If you have time, take a rest day in Lugo. A grand city. Walk from Salas to Campiello skipping Tineo. It's a long day but better than two very short ones.
The Primitivo does not have great infrastructure, so everyone moves from city to city as one. Akin to playing golf. There are few, if any, off-stage sleeping accommodation. You will make friends by sheer force.
It's a 10 day Camino, approx 26kms daily give or take. From Lugo, you can reach Santiago in 3 days. Lastly, buy water in Campiello (3ltrs min) for the trek over Hospitals Route. There is nothing in between. Have a great time.

The weather was very nice. The only chilly day was the first day when I walked in the rain; however, the rest of the trip was pretty warm (upper 70s F). At night, I just used a sleep sack and my quilt. (www.rei.com/product/147651/therm-a-rest-vesper-down-quilt-32) Most nights I didn't really need the quilt. A you will see from some of the videos, some days were hot.
However, when I went to Finnesterre it was rainy and cool, but still nice. So excited for your trip. Enjoy and be sure to post pictures!

Albergue de Peregrinos Porto. Great place near the train and close to the cathedral.
