About One Day At A Time: Set in Indianapolis, this beloved, long-running series takes a comedic but realistic look at divorcee Ann Romano (Bonnie Franklin) and her daily struggle to find her own identity while raising her two daughters, rebellious Julie (Mackenzie Phillips), 16 when the series begins, and level-headed Barbara (Valerie Bertinelli), a year younger. Even though Ann pretends to be liberated and secure, she's always treading the line between her former, deep-rooted dependence and her newly acquired independence. Building superintendent Dwayne Schneider (Pat Harrington Jr.) helps take care of the family, while lawyer David Kane (Richard Masur) tempts Ann to reconsider her single state. Ann's priority, however, is discovering her own potentials, which includes a new career, raising her daughters, and learning more about herself and her world.

The guys in my high school were crazy about Valerie Bertinelli's beauty.(She and I are the same age) I always found it strange that some episodes revolved around her not being able to get the guy she wanted.
Julie is my favorite, I can’t help it, she’s just my absolute fave
Mine too.
Julie and Ann are my favorites.
She’s exactly like my oldest sister!
I know! I was little when this came out so too small to realize how COOL SHE WAS LOL
Personally, I think she is a better actress, and she just always felt more real to me.
If I could pull Barbara, why even think about Julie?
Cause Julie puts out.
Julie was more grown up and fit Doug's personality more.
I too miss these shows thanks for uploading them.
I still watch this show on Antenna TV.
“All we’ll have is each other after you kick off”😂😂😂😂
Julie was the rebellious one and the "bad girl" people find attractive. Barbara was the complete opposite which is why this worked.
I love this show. They were so much more wholesome then.
What?
@@sheg1969 I watched this show for almost the entire nine years. This is probably from the second year when things were still generally going well. Have you ever Googled McKenzie Phillips or known her history?
@@sheg1969 Just what I said, shows were more wholesome. I'm not sure how else to say it. lol Emojis won't do the job.
@@tj.espygil4544 yes
Pretty grimmy there... 2:07
I like the apartment, but not the couch.
It was the late 70s. lol
@@EphemeralProductions I know, LOL. But that doesn't stop me from disliking the furniture of those days. I have to give credit to the fictional Ann in this show though, because her apartment was otherwise tasteful for those days.
@@KevvaPMcK yup. Agreed.
This is the Evans' tennement project apartment
Julie was such an annoying character. Despite being younger, Barbara always showed more common sense.
Eight ball 🎱 in the corner 😬
This is why I'm happy I'm a only child
Who would choose Julie over Barbara? A drug addict?
A blind man?
Uh, Mackenzie was the one with the drug problem, not the character she played. And I happen to love the character. Love Mac too.
;
She had problems but she is clean for years.
I was thinking the same thing. Barbara is so much prettier and classier in their characters.
Neither Julie or Barbara used drugs, now, mackinsie and valerie both did drugs, the only difference is that mac was a addict and val wasn't.
