you prolly dont give a shit but if you guys are bored like me atm you can watch all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my gf for the last days :)
One thing I've noticed with people who are replacing these cheap winches is, they don't clean them and, they don't cycle them without any weight on them at least once a month. So, whether you buy a big dollar one or a cheap one, you're still going to have the same issues with all of them.
Thought this video would have been useful until you said it was sponsored by a winch manufacturer.. your opinion goes out the window from there, sorry..
That, snd the cheapie fairlead plate. Everybody cheaps out and includes those “you need it with synthetic rope” they say. Hogwash, if that were true fishing reels set up for braided line wouldn’t have rollers, it would just be a machined drum. Use a decent roller fairlead for heaven’s sakes!.
Just bought a Warn 16.5Ti-S for my Ram 2500. I know that heavy truck will require a lot of pull when the time comes and I don't want to be disappointed. Good video! Honest advice I hope people listen to.
Mine is portable. I use it on my F250 and my expedition. I put a new 200 Amp alternator and new battery in the expedition. I have a dedicated marine grade battery in the back of the expedition to run the winch and solar panels. Plus a 2000 watt power inverter. Plenty of room in the expedition. Over the years I've had 3 new 🚙 jeeps. The older I get I like some creature comforts. After sleeping in a tent ⛺ I like a fresh pot of coffee in the morning.
You have to grease the living crap out of the connections, including taking apart the solenoid box, greasing all connections. All cheap winches use copper coated aluminum wire and it WILL fail if you don't grease the wires, connections. Grease your cable too, keep your winch dry as possible. After awhile the solenoid, relays will die but typically you can hook jumper cables directly to the winch and run it. Open them up and grease the gears if possible as well. 👌💯
With any winch regular servicing will extend its life dramatically. I have a Domin8r x winch $349 for almost 2 years now and have not had a single issue.
Still going strong 4 years now. I have only used it 3-4 times. Last time I used it was to winch myself and 3 other cars out of a bog hole. I re-greased it last year.
One thing I’ve discovered since buying a 4WD, is you MUST plan everything from, as u said, weight issues, quality of what you’re buying, longevity of what u need it for etc etc.
I have a winchmax 13500lb. It is used weekly and is two years old now. It's also pulled 2 fully laden discovery 2s out the mud, daisy chained together and axle deep and on an incline. Can't really ask for more can you?
A guy I work with buys all his tools from harbor freight to "save money"... but then hes always got to stop in the middle of a project to go get a replacement tool because his stuffs always breaking... i purchased an expensive set of tools, mostly rachets and wrenches, and ive never had an issue with my stuff... saves me time and money in the long run, plus, my stuffs got a warranty where his doesn't
Me too! Never had anything but trouble with the WARN winch on our Cruiser. It was always serviced with the vehicle and when I went to use it…dead. Fixed it, dead again. The electrics are junk too.
Your new winch at 23kg is just to light to be a ragged durable winch. When I look at the condition of your 12 month old winch, no wonder it failed, what a mess. I'm not sure why people don't do what I have, have my winch on a portable bracket, a receiver fitted to the bullbar and I'm telling you it works a treat. I have not pulled myself out of a bog yet, but have pulled out a HiLux out (twice) with a small boat on the back, a Toyota 76 series with a boat on the back and a Ram with a boat on the back. The advantage of this setup is the winch is not sitting under the bullbar all the time covered in water and mud. My winch now is over 2 years old and could sell it as brand new and you only need to carry it when on a trip or when ever you think you may need it. By the way my winch is one of those cheap ebay winches X-Bull.
G'day Dave you told me to take a Y62 for a test drive and tell what colour I chose , well it's " Ivory Pearl " Ti , I pick it up in about 2 weeks I have paid a deposit on a Rhino Bar 60kg they tell me , I have a Runva Winch off my Ute , Winch , synthetic rope , control box is 28kg I run the series 3 Ti , I took for a test drive over the weigh bridge , with the wife and I on board , the fuel gauge said 1/2 it went 1540 on the front axle , rear 1380 total 2920 , so not a lot left to play with up front . Have you weighed yours ?
Turkkiq Ali he possibly picked synthetic rope for the same reasons I have , it saves weight , won't rip your hands to shreds if you forget gloves , doesn't recoil like cable if it breaks , I have never had one break and believe me it's a hell of a lot easier to drag up a steep track in the Highcountry . I have had been using synthetic for at least 20 years
Damn, sponsored. I watched though and was glad. Not that I would buy an ebay winch, no never, but to get one with a good warranty. So thanks for the vid.
😂 the winch he complained about looked like it went thru hell and back .... Either didn't care for it or he used it more than admitted...bottom like is if you have money 💰 then buy a warn if not ebay has you covered.... Sorry but they do same thing bro... I have pulled out guys with low powered glamour winches with my apex china special twice now ...
You get what you pay for, I got y62 and 200 series, if can afford these cars you don’t buy cheap shit, and don’t kid yourselfs weight is strength, buy a warn winch and you will never go wrong, you still need to maintain them and they will last decades, and yes everyone goes rope but for me cable will never let you down.
G’day mate, I have the exact same winch. I’m jus curious does it seem noisy when running and seem to load up a lot. Ive just wound mine on the drum while loaded just sounds abit strange as it’s my first winch! Cheers
ECB bull bar aluminium 6mm gage 27 KG plus Carbon 9500 LB winch synthetic rope installed 74 KG through Opposite Lock for my Discovery 4. Compare that with a ARB Summit bull bar Warn winch combo over 140 Kg. I learned years ago on my 80 series what the extra weight will do to fuel consumption, capability and longevity of your pride and joy. I haven’t even mentioned legalities yet.
What do people expect. Electric winches have systems. We used to use pto winches.. lol we never knew what a snatch block was. Ever! Pto or hydraulic. But these days you cannot run them. Next best thing. Electric worm winch like a old ramsey or superwinch/huskey. Look at the pulls these winches did on camel trophey. Small motors but huge ratios! What it should be
Don’t do it! I’ve had a Warn for years and it’s always breaking. The fairleads are junk, bodies are weak and the electrics are junk. They used to be good but they’re just overpriced rubbish now.
Well I must say that 5 years is a terrific warranty. It's funny but price is relative as it cost twice as much as ur cheapy yet those with a Warn would probably call ur Carbon a cheapy! That warranty tho would have to fill you with confidence and $1000 isn't that bad for a quality item, cheers mate. Having a Patrol - do you have the 'Landcruiser Recovery Vehicle' sticker on the back lol.
What is the clutch for? I never use a clutch on my hand drill and I will never need one on my first winch when I get one. I can tell when it gets stuck and I believe these will always cause trouble. It will be the first thing to fail.

How long does it take to ship to W.A ?
How does Carbon Winch manage to keep the weight down, compared to other known brands? Where are they cutting weight?

@Alden Leo Yup, been watching on InstaFlixxer for since december myself :D

I just got my fiery red 13000lb winch. I can buy 5 of these for the price of 1 warn winch. Take care of it and it will take care of you.
As my Dad has told me on so many occasions, cheap stuff is made for a reason, best quality gear is made for a purpose.
Buy once, cry once.
Not always. Best quality in some cases means paying for a brand
True true, lets say u got a jimney 4x4 u bought for 500 bucks & u need a winch, ebay winch 400 or in ur case get a Warn Zeon winch, for best quality
How's it performing now? Still working as described?

The second you said it was sponsered, I stopped watching, I get enough ads in my life.
I remember when most of the winches were Thomas PTO or electric winches.and the warn high mounts were popular.

ive had an xd9000 for twenty years never has let me down under water over mountains forget the rest
Got a keeper kx9500 today, seems pretty good for my ford ranger 2011
I use my winch about twice a year…so I bought a cheap one 🤷🏻♂️

Depends on what you buy. Also Harbor Freight has lifetime warranty on their hand tools.
The worst winch i have ever had is the most expensive brand Warn Would never buy another Have owned a cheap one and found it fantastic
Web Dev Had two one 9000lb and one 12000lb
Would never buy another

Use the same camera! Had to turn it off because I got sick off turning the volume up and down!
I've been interested in the Sherpa line..lookin really good.
me to
Yeah Toby I pulled the trigger and got the 9500 lb winch. Looks pretty good. Now for the bumper.
