At 51, I'd still give my right bollock for one of these bikes! One of my mates had a Haro Master freestyler in white, tuff 2's and the one piece crank instead of the redline 3 piece. 🤙
Who's the 2 who went thumbs down.REALLY???These were the one's in the 80's.The one's we heard in the neighborhood, like myths.I owned a Hutch & Mongoose.Man I miss the 80's.New project coming next week,(REDLINE RESTO) AWESOME VIDEO GANG!!!
I always wanted a Haro Master! The shorter wheel base and steeper front end with just axel pegs would have suited me well in parking lot shenanigans. And in a survey of 100 Betty’s, sea foam green got 69 approval votes. Red was second with 23 votes and 8 turned out to be Karen’s who tried to have me arrested. But due to unavailability I had to settle for a “poor man’s master” which was the Mongoose Decade.
Sweet bikes, all three. I wanted an OG Master for a long time and now I have a beautiful coral 88 Master but I'm afraid to mess up the original paint riding hard. I'd love to build one of these retros to shred on since the Master is such a great riding bike. Nice builds!
Thank you VERY much! I actually have another vid to upload of 3 retro 88 Masters. One of which is the coral blue. They really are GREAT riders. The 88s have a much better geometry and are more confidence inspiring.
Your Haro vintage builds are beautiful! It's the attention paid to the little details that really impress. I'm contemplating doing one myself . Question: Where did you get the Vision Street Wear CD 44t(?) chain wheel? Or did you make it yourself with a sticker kit?
My 86 haro was stolen from me when I was 19, I got it from a dump in a ravine when I was 9, spent a couple years fully restoring it. Now I'm 30 and have found myself looking for RUclips videos of the best damn bike I've ever owned. Sure wish I was lucky enough to find another original frame in a dump. kids think this Walmart NEXT/mongoose/tony hawk crap is worth showing off. Remember when mongoose was worth a crap? Man and Royce union. I still see a diamond back here and there, but I wouldn't get caught dead riding a pos Walmart bike today. 86 haro, 98 mongoose hoop d, 97 Royce union. My three childhood bikes I built from junk piles. The three best bikes for competition ever in my book, before I quit going to events my prick of a manager got sponsored by eastern ( Jane ) and although the bike they demanded I use was cushy and pure precision, the weight was so even that doing freestyle was hard, had to use really fat heavy pegs to get the right amount of weight to swing. It sucks when you do a stoppie and have no weight to balance while in motion. Zero resistance against upward force in the back + stoppie = instant faceplant.
We’ve all had them stolen, had to sell, etc. that’s exactly why we had to build these. You’re right, they just don’t make them like these anymore. Hopefully Mongoose will get on this train and make some repops too.
Beautiful rides bro , quick question for you , I have a few masters , one of witch is a 2016 freestyler frame , same as these , how did you get the new lineage wheels to fit on that bike with the bigger axles , mine is near complete , but I need a set of wheels , I looked on eBay , but people are asking between $480 to $600 for an original set of hp48s
Thank you very much! So these wheels are the Lineage Vintage also called Vineage by Haro. They have the 3/8” front and rear with a freewheel. The others are the regular Lineage which have the same 3/8” front but have a 14mm rear axle with a 9 tooth cassette. So the only modification would be the front since these forks require a notched or flat axle. If you want to run really ANY wheel except skyways (which have flat front axles) then you’ll need to file open the front dropout to allow the axle to fit. You can notch the axles but after a lot of contemplation on our parts, it makes more sense to file the dropout. This way your axles have full integrity and makes it easier to replace them in the future. If you’re worried about the chrome flaking, just apply some clear nail polish over the filed area. That’ll seal it up. Don’t be scared to file it lol! It’s got to work. Btw, I also cut an inch off my bars on each end so I’ve overcome the hurdle of hesitancy. You’ll need to run threaded pegs because there is not enough length on the Vineage wheels to allow for bolt/nut on pegs. I recommend finding some BlackOps Lead Foot pegs. Good length, affordable, and thread right on. Another option are the mid 90s GT pegs. Look like the lead foot pegs but are 30 grams lighter per peg. All of these bike have had some changes since this vid and the longer pegs were definitely needed. I’m also working with a machine shop to machine longer axles for the Haro HP 48 wheels.
Northeast MotorCo I kind of figured that is what you did , I guess it's notch the frame , or run a set of skyways on it , those 14mm Axel's are a real pain in the but for us old school guys .
No there are not 14mm on any of them. They’re all 3/8” front and rear. It’s the fork dropout you have to file to open it up for the 3/8” axle. It’s designed to accept a flat axle. They have 2 sets of those lineage wheels available. New school and old school.
They were sold as vintage reproduction 1986 (not new lineage geometry) frame/fork kits from Haro. They are all mostly new repop parts but have some original vintage parts. Like mine (with skyways) is all new with the exception of the Power disc & chainwheel, and the Anlun 5015 stem. The gyro and cables are mid 90s but nos.
I built a yellow 2017 this past year - I did the same thing on my chainring with the stickers. I drove it from NC to California just so I could ride it on Huntington Beach. The owner of Cheap Goods stopped me at HB, I had never met him or knew of their shop. It was good times! Check my build out at @bassmusicismydrug on Instagram.
That first Haro Freestyler is the Perfect 80s bike. Style, colors, radness. Just next level. Beautiful resto. Lucky bastard
Rocked a 86 Haro master just like this !!!!!!!! I want mine back so bad !!!!
At 51, I'd still give my right bollock for one of these bikes!
One of my mates had a Haro Master freestyler in white, tuff 2's and the one piece crank instead of the redline 3 piece. 🤙
At 51 you don’t have much use for your right bollock anyway so it’s a fair trade
@@kermitthehermit9588😂
Nice builds! These bad boys bring back great memories and nostalgia. Thanks for sharing!
The only bikes I ever owned and loved in the 80s and still do!

Thank you! These were definitely the status symbol of the 80s kids for sure. Good luck with your build!

I was gonna ask the same question...
And the knee save bars?
I'm drooling bro

I had a magenta Diamond Back Mike Dominguez Strike Zone with Peregrine 48s and a GT power series 3-pc. crank. Stolen from my garage years ago. :-(
Sick bikes. hey at the :28 mark what size bolt is that? is that bolt similar to the redline 401 flights spindle bolts?
that one with the white mags is my dream bike. does anybody know if haro still sells them like that
These were reproduction frame fork sets that they put out a couple years ago. No more new frames from Haro but they do have the forks.
Great vid🤘🤘🤘
Very much appreciated!
Love the builds...great job..one question: the first bike on left has silver rear pegs. What brand are they?
Just got mine last Friday 13 dec

now that green master is a Dennis McCoy machine. only thking is his had crome sugeno cranks
We were definitely going for that vibe! Based on the bike from the how-to video in the mall.
I just came here to see if that was skateboard grip on the top tubes
if it's a reissue why didn't they put 990 mounts on it? that was dumb
Make a video to how to isntal the acs rotor
Clasic bar
I had a white one
I saw the blue tape
what does that mean?
Watch the other video. He had an issue with the haro1 bar post. Thats why he had to put a “TAPE”.
