What if the Fourth Plane Hit Its Target? (9/11)

- On 9/11/01, United 93 was the last plane to be hijacked and crashed into a field instead of an unknown target. What many don't know is how close things came to that being different.

I have a true story
One of my relatives was in one of the twin tower buildings, and one of his co-workers noticed smoke coming from the other building, she said to my relative: We got to go
Now the twin towers were far enough from each other that a fire would be fine for the tower not on fire, and my relative said: It's just a fire, we'll be fine
She said: I was here during the attacks of 1993, we gotta go
He insisted to use the elevator
She said no and they began rushing down the stairs
around 3 minutes of them rushing down flights of stairs, they heard a loud bang and then a shake, everyone 3 floors above them had died.
That person saved my relative and a couple other lives too, God Bless her
Echotech this is what heroism is, 1 person can save many
IF you're in a building that has been attacked once before and see one that is on fire that's most likely a sign to get out before something else bad happens. She knew what she had to do and did it and glad she was able to get other people out as well just sorry the ones 3 floors above weren't able to make it out. They had one of the towers emptied out (not sure if it was that one) and felt it was safe for everyone to go back to work. IT been me I would had left instead of heading back up to my office, you know in the pit of your stomach something bad is bound to happen. One tower was crashed into ON purpose. So sad a beautiful sunny morning turned into a tragic nightmare.
God has a good plan for you and your family brother 👍
God bless her

I remember hearing the hijackers went to flight school in the United States, and when the people who taught them were questioned, like “was anything ever off about them?” or something like that, the teachers responded with something along the lines of, ”Yea, they never seemed interested in how to take off or land." Absolutely insane.
Its like your 1st piano lesson, teacher comes in and tells you to "play", like what the fuck am I supposed to do?
That’s disturbing as all fuck.
7 of the hijackers were alive , how the fuck do you hijack a plane crash it into a highrise and explode then be alive and a copy of your passport is magically in the rubble where steel is melted but your passport is clean .
No one them survived. Please stop spreading shit that can be disproved in 5 seconds of research.

@@sorrestsummerWhy is it that… in one of the most heavily secure and surveilled place in America, only 1 choppy video that never actually shows a plane hit the Pentagon? Why is it that the plane literally went in a giant circle around the Pentagon and then flew at street level (without hitting any telephone or light poles) and hit the exact place where all the evidence of the 2.3 trillion dollars that was reported missing the day before by Rumsfeld? It could have been WAY more easily hit it on it direct path by going straight and hitting other side…. So it decided to take more time, go around, fly damned near at street level and hit that one place all while they had the threat that a missile or plane would shoot them down before they could hit their target.
That doesn’t make any sense. Now, firing a missile into the 1 area that held all the evidence that some people in the government stole and blaming it on a plane…. Even though it is much worse…. Makes a lot more sense… there should be some video evidence from that heavily surveilled building… 1 single video that actually shows a plane hitting or at least coming at the Pentagon…. But it doesn’t exist supposedly.
And if that is a lie… and Building 7 that was never hit by a plane carrying jet fuel that weakened the steel, which is the reason the Towers fell they say…. How did it fall in its own footprint? There were many other buildings that were damaged way worse and were on fire too…

True. They actually had an ounce of hope aswell. It's said that a retired single engine plane pilot was also on flight 93 as well as a retired air traffic controller. If the passengers regained the cockpit those two were going to try and land the plane. There's an amazing movie about these events and even though I know exactly how it ends I'm always rooting for the passengers to succeed in their final attempt at survival.

It wasn’t because it was delayed. It didn’t hit its target because the passengers on the plane knew what was gonna happen and they already knew they were gonna die so they were brave enough to fight the hijackers and forced it to crash in a field.

It's ironic how Flight 93 was truly the happy ending (using that term loosely) of such a tragic day. It's really a storybook ending in how the courage of those passengers on board ended up saving more lives.
I think "Happy" is not the proper word to use, it just happened, and dont misunderstand my words, what the passengers of 93 did was heroic, but it wasn't a happy ending at all, they just did what they have to, which is the right thing.
@@pinkpotatoe7776 If you remember correctly, I mentioned the word "Ironic" before "Happy". Cause we all know it was far from happy.

@@artiecon97 Kinda like a Steven King type ending to a novel.
Another note worthy thing is, Congess WAS IN SESSION on 9/11 and if the capital had been hit, it would have been while the congress was in session meaning most congressional leaders would have died
and while replacement Senators may be appointed by the state's governor (which 46 states allow), House of Representatives vacancies must be filled by special election, so that would be weeks to months without part of the government. The quorum is half of the membership of each (except for if a president/VP election doesn't get an electoral college majority)
In 2005, a House rule created a procedure for establishing a quorum after a catastrophe, but it's unclear whether that works around the 1/2 Constitional requirement
Kind of. Flight 93 was hijacked much later than the other 3 planes. By the time Ziad Jarrah had turned the plane towards DC, the Capitol building was being evacuated. If the plane had hit the building, it might've already been fully or partially evacuated.

Real Life Version of Netflix's "Designated Survivor"
It is crazy to think that prior to 9/11, airplane hijacking was an AMAZINGLY common occurrence, it happened like once per month around the world. Frequently the hijackers would ask for large sums of money or divert the airplane to another country seeking asylum or something. Crews were trained to deal with this scenario, so there was no need for panic inside the cabin (in many cases passengers weren't even aware of the situation, like the infamous Dan Cooper hijacking). This was the flaw that allowed the surprise factor - no one could foresee a suicidal crash following an "ordinary" airplane hijacking, let alone four happening simultaneously. This evil planning is beyond horrendous
Yeah that's because it's spiritual for sure. And it was inside job.

@@almostdroppedmycroissant7426oh that one Japan flight? I forgot it’s exact details
This really puts into perspective how monumental 9/11 was those of us who weren’t old enough to remember it (or younger - I was 1 and a half.) Never having seen the towers irl (or not remembering it) and never seeing the pentagon on fire on live tv makes it feel like a historical event instead of a modern tragedy to the younger generation. But we’ve seen the Capitol building, and we’ve seen the White House (many times if you’re in the dc area) and just imagining seeing such famous structures collapse, even not fully, really puts into perspective how people even just slightly older than us feel about what did happen.
TheDreRock I was two and it's my earliest memory I can still recall. Just standing in front of the TV and seeing the second plane crash into the second tower.
I was four but even then i never witnessed the Towers or the Pentagon on fire. My earliest memory is of a few years later where we would remember what happened. Seeing the mock images of the White House on fire really struck a nerve with me because like you said, it puts in perspective how monumental 9/11 was, regardless of the theories out there, in which two of this countries biggest symbols were spared because a flight was delayed and the passengers were aware of what would happen if they didn't take back the plane.
I remember it, and being four, I was a bit angry that one of my favourite TV-family shows was not on in time. I think it was about the coast guard of the north sea, but I do not remember for certain. What I do remember, are the pictures of two large towers burning heavily and I think I even remember one scene of a person jumping out of there to certain death, but I am not sure I saw that.
I was in middle school when 9/11 happened. I live in California, so I didn't see anything live as I had yet to even wake up for school yet. Once I got there, it was what everyone was talking about. I remember all the scared looks of the adults. There were no lessons that day, all of my teachers just had the news on. It was the moment I "grew up", as I had never seen something like that. My mom took my siblings and me out of school early. I remember looking outside when the sun was setting that evening and I asked my older brother, "Nothing will ever be the same again, huh?" He just shook his head.
I was 11. I still have the occasional nightmare.
The nightmares aren't about what I saw on tv. It was pretty abstract.
Instead I dream that I'm there, in the towers before the first plane hits and I know everything that's about to happen. But I can't warn anyone. Every time I try, something stops me. I lose my voice or I get interrupted and can't get back their attention. In the end, all I can do is try to convince them to avoid the elevators and then help evacuate.
You handled this video with a tremendous amount of sensitivity. Great work.

@@manwithnoname8229 The key to general relativity lies in the fact that everything in a gravitational field falls at the same constant rate. For Newton to be right this would mean the force of gravity is variable. F = ma (a = 9.8 m/s/s). Why? Because in free fall a = 9.8 m/s/s is a constant for all different masses. a = F/m a = Big F/Big m & a = small F/small m. But this would also mean during free fall all masses would have weight if W = mg. Weight = mass times gravity @ 9.8 m/s/s. Weight is a force. F = ma means force causes mass to accelerate, and F is the thrust force often measured in pounds. Can we measure the different weights of the different masses during free fall? No because the weight of a mass can only be measured on a scale that is said to be at rest. Besides, an accelerometer measures zero acceleration during free fall for any mass. And that means there is no force acting during free fall. No force = No acceleration = No weight...Just mass. The acceleration noticed is strictly visual from your frame of reference, which is one of non-free fall. In other words you are watching things in free fall that don't have a force on them, no gravity, but at the same time while there is a gravity force on you.

Well they didnt know they were ALL going to die in a crash, there were a lot more passengers than hijackers on the flight, they figured they'd break the door down, rush the hijackers in the pilot and co pilots' seats and take back control of the plane, even if nobody could fly the plane plenty of such non pilots have had to land planes with instructions from the tower, they might still crash trying to land on the runway, but with auto pilot and all the rest helping, it would still be possible.
Somehow they crashed instead, we'll never know if the hijacker at the controls just yanked the controls and sent it into a steep dive when the door was broken in, or what happened
The crazy thing is that most people don't realise and doesn't seem to be talked about much was, the north tower was hit before 9am, and the south tower hit at 9am, afterwards. This meant that building was no where near full, not everyone had arrived. Only 15,000 people were in the buildings at the time, with a normal weekday population of 50,000 plus 200,000 daily visitors. If the Hijackers had hit the towers, an hour later, at 9:46 and 10:03, the death toll would have been so much larger.
It also means there were hundreds if not thousands of people who survived because they were running late for work.
Because of that a huge un-talked about aspect is how many people in the missing didn't die but used it as an excuse to just disappear and walk away from their life. People in dead-end relationships or jobs that had overseas accounts, that are now living a thousand miles away

“Hi. I’m Codey from AlternateHistoryHub. This video will explore what would’ve happened if one of the planes on 9/11 had been delayed, as very nearly happened in reality. Imagine a world where the White House is still standing. While the World Trade Center attack inflicted the most casualties, it was the destruction of the White House that has most shaped America today. If the plane had been delayed, the crew and passengers would’ve learned of the attacks in New York and maybe, just maybe, have been able to fight the hijackers.
With the White House intact, the American retaliation throughout the Middle East would have been less extreme. The wars in the Middle East might have taken on a more limited form, with only Afghanistan being the target of the US military rather than...well, everybody else.”

American troops would be even more aggressive in fighting the Taliban and we may still have a presence in Afghanistan and that the Middle East turns into another Europe or East Asia where American troops are kept their more or less as a fact of geopolitics and there might be U.S or whatever other troops in places like Iran, Syria and Libya and there would probably be a draft of some kind. There might even be a redrawing of the middle east like what was proposed at the time.
On the other hand an even more aggressive U.S might not be as sympathetic. Criticism of the war on terror would be up to 11 with possibly Europe breaking from the U.S into an independent bloc and Russia and China would be even more critical of U.S foreign policy and would still be seen as relatively pacifist against American aggression. No one would care about some protest in Hong Kong or Russia influencing European politics if American troops are fighting a war in Iran.
It would be cool, but I'm sure the White House would've been rebuilt and finished sometime in the Obama Administration (if that even happens in this timeline).
Iraq War was a travesty, but "everyone else" is factually extremely incorrect although, well, it sounds good.

Well, lemme put it this way: if the plane had successfully hit the White House or the Congressional building, I'm pretty sure the US would have responded by razing a few countries to the ground, maybe even a world war starting if anyone tried to stop us. Think about it: we were already pissed off enough when the towers fell, and as monumental a landmark as they were, they're nothing compared to the White House or Congressional building. Those are US icons. Had they been destroyed...well, Afghanistan likely would be a burned-out husk of its' former self, and that's just the start.
That was my greatest fear at the time, even as an Aussie. Our Prime Minister was across the river from the Pentagon when it got hit, giving a press conference. As it was, Australia got dragged into several badly run wars that are still going 17 years later.
And the country from which most of the terrorists and their leader came from, and the home of the ideology?? Untouched. And probably still laughing as the US destroys their rivals one by one.
Drew fromOz sad but true
I don't think its much the symbol (don't get me wrong it would play a very large role) but the fact that if one politician was killed, it would justify an iraq war 10x (i dont think it would, but bush would). More than likely it'd kill at least 10 if it hit the rotunda but if they hit the house/senate it would be a lot more
I really wish you wern't so right, but if there is to be a bright side I'd like to believe that Australia or any of our allies had taken the hit instead of us we would have stood by you as well. America may have missed the mark on the war on terror but I will strive to make sure the boy your country buried will not be forgotten.
It was hard enough to bypass the concerns and lamentations in our timeline that opposed the war in iraq, so a even harder, more aggressive approach liekly wouldve cost the US the support and couldve lead to WW3, this time a unruly an denraged US against the more "mature" nations
I could've lost 2 of my cousins that day. 1 cousin was a flight attendant for united and ended up calling out sick that day. He was suppose to be on this flight. one of his very close friends of his had to take over for him and lost her life that day. To this day, he has not been on a plane since then and retired the next day dealing with survivors remorse and hasn't been the same since 9/11. his brother which makes it even more crazy was a white house staffer. He worked for presidents Reagan up to Trump before retiring. If that plane didn't crash into the fields of PA and my cousin didn't call out to work that day, I could've lost both of my second cousins.
I'm surprised united hasn't tried to spin that into a positive note. "Our frequent delays saved the whitehouse!" Fly the friendly skies (but you have to wait 2 extra hours)
Michael O prolly cause they don’t want to draw attention to 9/11 at an airport lmao😂😂

I guess people would make memes about how stupid terrorists are
Zerpderp0 no war on terror or such supported
Zerpderp0 I think the Pentagon should be counted as “missed” because they went into the side of the building that was under construction. I don’t get why they didn’t just crash through the roof, cuz it’s easier and would’ve been way more damaging.
9/11 would be remembered as the day that the terrorists' plans flopped, and terrorists would be veiwed as violent people who are also clumsy.
I encourage anyone who can make it, go to the flight 93 memorial in Shanksville. It is amazingly beautiful, and such a nice tribute to the crew and passengers who made that sacrifice to save lives.
The last line there "Imagine growing up not seeing the Capitol Building or the White House" really hit me. That is THE symbol of our government and while i know they would be rebuilt. The fact that they would be different and overall the US as a whole would be changed by seeing our capital in ruins would be a drastically different outcome. Makes me tear up abit, cause it would be alot more personal.
You wouldn't have, they would have rebuilt them. See the Freedom tower.
The Freedom Tower looks completely different. We wouldn't have grown up seeing the White House or the Capitol Building as we know it, it would've been the one built as a result of the attack. That really does have a major effect on America.
Now imagine growing up seeing your country bombed and your countrymen killed everyday by foreign powers...
I wouldn’t really care honestly how often do you think of the White House anyways
Every Muslim in America would have left or gone into hiding cuz there's no way anyone tolerates the open practice of that religion in this country after that hit

I was driving to PA to visit my girlfriend at the time and saw a sign for the flight 93 memorial. I told her I was gonna be 2 hours late and went to the memorial. It was a powerful experience.
The plane that hit the Pentagon was meant for the White House. The flight path showed that it was headed there and then veered to the Pentagon, likely because the trees blocked a clear view of the small target. United 93 was meant for the Capitol. So if things had come out as planned, both the White House AND the Capitol would have been destroyed that day. Imagine that.
And the only professionally trained hijacker had been on Flight 77.
That’s not true. They were planning on striking symbols of American power. The World Trade Center was a symbol of the American economy, the pentagon was the symbol of the military, and the Capitol or the White House were symbols of the American government. So they were planning on hitting the pentagon since the beginning.
@@robobox7595 All the pilot hijackers were professionally trained what are you talking about
@@ahmadx1998 Hani Hanjour, the hijack pilot on American 77, was the only hijacker to have flight training as a personal goal instead of for the sole purpose of carrying out the attack. Yea I was going to comment on this but then saw your post. I live in DC and we saw the plane that hit the Pentagon, flying over the National Mall, doing weird things. You can say it 100 more times, but it would still be a stupid non-point.
I think 93 has been glorified somewhat. Which is what happens to historical events as time passes. The passengers didn't attempt to retake the aircraft because of some great patriotic cause. They attempted to retake it because they knew they were going to die, and it was the only thing they could do. There were children aboard, and they wanted to see their loved ones again, not save the Whitehouse.
So airplane delays are tactical decisions

Yes, in the fantasy world where modern sky scrapers collapse, free falling, in to it's foundation due to very minor office fires. Because I should believe that skyscrapers that can handle minor office fires with out collapsing in to a pile of neatly cut pieces and fine dust didn't exist in the 80s?
As opposed to the REALITY, where they collapsed onto surrounding buildings, DID NOT free fall, and the fires were MAJOR along with the structural damage, and it was NEVER in "neatly cut pieces."
There was actually 5 Planes; a pilot found Box Cutters hidden within seats, and he felt something bad.
He also had reports of people “walking to the plane” who supposedly weren’t Workers for the Airport.
The 5th Plane could’ve hit something else, maybe Philadelphia? The White House, Capitol Building, Chicago?
We will never know most likely.

North Tower - destroyed
South Tower - destroyed
Pentagon - damaged
White houseboat capital - not reached
The pentagon had actually underwent anti terrorism upgrades to the building, and the offices next to the ones that were destroyed were claimed to be "able to be moved into as new"
@laser325 Yeah, that' tends to be what happens when a steel-framed building burns out-of-control for several hours. Just look at the Plasco building in Tehran in 2017.
@Raven Lynx The Twin Towers were designed to withstand the impact of a 707 at a relatively low speed while on approach to an airport, not fully-fueled 767s purposefully slamming into them at 3X those speeds. However, you're right about the impacts; they didn't bring down the buildings. But it was massive multi-floor office fires ignited by thousands of pounds of burning jet fuel burning out-of-control for 56 and 102 minutes respectively that brought them down, not explosives. If you understand basic physics then none of this should be surprising.
@Raven Lynx Jet fuel ignited the fires. Office materials sustained the fires. Thousands of gallons of burning jet fuel was sprayed over several floors of each building. Each floor had only drywall dividers separating the various offices so the fire was able to spread quickly.
@Raven Lynx Metal beams shouldn't be destroyed but since the impact, there must be alot of beams getting destroyed due to impact,, so the pressure on remaining beams must be seriously high, and the burning fuel must have melted it that much that the beams broken apart causing the whole upper floor to fell down unless its a staged demolition act which is also possible.... Jet fuel ain't normal fuel you see, its a more purified form of petrol which will burn at considerable higher temperature than petrol... so melting is quite possible too

1. soviets or germans get all of europe
2.dunno what it is
3. ww2 happens earlier
And that's the easiest answer, but would really WWII start at 1. Sep 39? I think not. Even most pesimist czechoslovak army generals expected, that germany would suffer a huge casualties... And god knows if Soviet Union doesn't start WWII instead of Germany...
1. Soviets would take all of Germany and Denmark possibly Norway and the Benelux. And Italy would probably be split
2. The allies would never attempt this. Period. Allies and Germans had slight mutual respect for each other. If this were to happen it would be the Soviet's. and if this were to happen I believe operation Unthinkable would be a lot more popular. Switzerland would become a hotbead of German Ultra-nationalism.
3. It wouldn't. Even if Allies had joined. Many think it would actually strengthen the axis as Britain's Air-force was substantially weaker in 38'
This was recommended to me on 9/11 of 2023
Two of the al-Queda leaders who are said to have plotted the attacks, Ramzi bin al-Shibh and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (both cooling their heels in Guantanamo Bay these days) were pretty clear that the capitol building was the intended target. It being much larger than the White House, it would have been easier to hit and had a much more dramatic effect, which is what they were hoping to achieve.
Had the US Capitol or the White House been hit, it would have been tragic and there would have been a loss of life. But either one would have been quickly rebuilt with 100% certainty. It would be mostly a symbolic victory for Al-Queda.
The actual economic and physical damage of 9/11 was minimal. The real effects were psychological.

The Capitol Building being hit could have also potentially resulted in the loss of the Library of Congress and/or the National Archives, both of which contain large portions of America's historical legacy.
The loss of the rotunda would have been a loss of something that took generations to build, an architectural work of art being vandalized.
People ranging from Thomas Jefferson to Jefferson Davis had a hand in the design, creation, and building of just the rotunda of the Capitol Building. There are so many noteworthy historical and artistic elements of interest that it would be impossible to list them all here, but the amongst the most important would be the previously mentioned Library of Congress, the rotunda itself, the interior mural, and the statue.

I’d like to see a video on If Churchill never became Prime Minister of Britain or What if Neville Chamberlain never resigned.
Lucas Ward this
Owen Papsdorf We'd be speaking German
Lucas Ward there would be no Jews today
If Churchill was never the Prime Minister than I'm pretty sure Britain would have a better looking 20th century because Churchill was a fucking ass, I mean the reason Gandhi is a hero is because of the imperialism that was happening back than.
well... Neville Chamberlain resigned because he was dying of bowel cancer and would die a few months later... which means Churchill would simply come to power about 6 months later than in our time line. It's *possible* that the British Expeditionary Forces (BEF) would not be saved in time at Dunkirk (this was under Churchill's command)… with the loss of the 300,000 or so soldiers and their machinery, Britain might very well have sued for peace, especially if the POWs were sent into slave labour camps deep in the Nazi regime.
If Churchill didn't become Prime Minister... likely we'd see Lord Halifax become PM, even though he repeatedly said he was NOT interested in the job (he was offered a few times in the months leading up to Chamberlain's resignation). So, he'd be like a British Andrew Jackson ("if nominated, I will not run, if elected, I will not serve)… or at least be very reluctant in his duties. Halifax knew that Hitler could not be trusted after the meetings at Munich. He initially figured that the Nazis and USSR would fight it out to the death over Czechia and maybe Poland, since he absolutely viewed the USSR as a *far* bigger threat to the United Kingdom (both in size of forces, and in ideology). When the Molotov-Ribbentrop treaty was signed (between the Soviet and Nazi generals, as a temporary alliance) this really put the UK on high alert. With Poland sliced in half between them, they'd be fighting a massively overwhelming foe on the continent. His hope was that both ideologies (Nazism/fascism and communism) would annihilate each other and leave the western liberal democracies mostly alone, but as we know it didn't quite work out that way!). Yes, Halifax was an early supporter of appeasement, but after Czechia was annexed, he immediately chose a tougher stance, including an alliance with Poland (which really shocked Hitler) if it were attacked next. I can see him going to war to protect Poland, perhaps without the early lull in fighting ("sitzkreig" or armchair war, as the germans called it), though it's unknown on if the BEF would still rally at Dunkirk, or if Hitler would delay his panzer brigades from advancing through the Ardennes and marshes surrounding Dunkirk for a few days (this is what allowed them to escape in our timeline). Basically, flip a coin at this point.
Once France fell, the BEF and French forces (as well as Polish partisans) all fled back to the UK to regroup. If the Luftwaffe managed to actually defeat the Royal Air Force during the Battle of Britain (the RAF narrowly survived and wound up winning... it's kinda scary how easily it could have gone the other way!), then the Royal Navy would have its hands full trying to shoot down the planes AND tackle the Kreigsmarine. The pro-appeasement forces would then likely demand an end to the war and a surrender, even if it meant it was on Hitler's terms. The only reason the UK kept fighting on past 1943 was thanks to the Lend-Lease agreement, and the massive influx of American troops to help in the war. Otherwise, the UK would be forced to surrender and would likely be humiliated like Germany was after the first world war. Now, Hitler himself even expressed frustration over having to fight the UK, since he considered them to be "honourary aryans", and would have vastly preferred to have them on his side. It's likely that once Continental Europe fell to the Nazis, and with the UK out of the war, they would then turn their war machine east, and attack Russia. It's unknown if they'd be able to conquer or even hold the vast territory east of Poland, but we'd likely see a vastly larger Germany.
This all depends, of course, on the USA and USSR staying out of the war against Nazi Germany. President Franklin Roosevelt wanted to join to help the UK, but most Americans wanted to stay neutral, though support for joining was gradually increasing, and the rapid succession of both Pearl Harbour and Hitler's laughably stupid declaration of war on the United States flipped public opinion from "let's stay out of another European war" to "KICK THEIR ASSES!"
Basically, it becomes too murky after November/December of 1941 to tell how the war would have ended without Churchill at the helm.
I read that the British army during the second world war seemed to operate on doing "just enough" to get the job done. German soldiers from that time remarked shortly after the war that the british would often cause massive damage, but then stop, leaving the germans time to retreat, when they were down to their last rounds, when the Germans' tactics were more of overwhelming force, crushing their opponents and making sure they either had no ammo left or were forced to surrender.... this tactic likely would have changed under Halifax.

I do think that the target for United 93 was the Capital Building, one because it be unwise to target the White House when the president was in Florida on 9/11(I know that the Vice President, Dick Cheney, was in Washington DC). The other reason is that the White House was too low of an elevation for the plane to hit the building (and yes, I know what I’m saying, the Pentagon was hit at a similar elevation, yet they somehow managed to hit the Pentagon), meanwhile, the Capital Building was a much easier target, as it is one of the tallest structures in Washington DC, due to a law saying that buildings could have at most 4 stories. One of the most disturbing things I find about 9/11 is that people MAKE MEMES ON 9/11. THEY NEGLECT THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DIED ON THAT DAY. STOP 9/11 MEMES. Also, my dad was a police officer on 9/11, and a guy who lived at the Pentagon, came to his police station, and was unsure of what was going on and was was concerned about his place being destroyed (which did actually happen), and he was later involved with the DC sniper stuff that happened the following year. And a final note on this comment is that my mom stated that the smoke could still be smelled 2 days afterwards; the Pentagon was still burning after 2 days. So that is my family’s experience on 9/11.
didn't really go that in depth. Would the middle east have been completely destabilized? Would WW3 eventually ensue? Or would everything be the same except more of a show of force?
Bruh the US would've probably gone just short of genocide in the ME and Religious relations would probably be worse than during the crusades
I bet the United States would’ve put almost all of the military in Afghanistan and Iraq and put every effort into killing bin laden faster and of course Saddam Hussein would’ve been publicly executed and all with out UN approval
ACombineSoldier probably a nuke would’ve been dropped
America would have been on a war footing that hasn't been seen since Pearl Harbor. Vietnam would have been a military exercise in comparison to an entire theatre-wide conflict. America (plus NATO, ANZUS and any other coalition) would most likely hit Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and probably Pakistan for good measure. Depending on Israeli/Palestine and Yemen, both might also see US intervention. America's National Security and Intelligence agencies would get funding on steroids. To say how America (and democratic nations modelled after the US) will see their democracy, liberty, etc. in their culture after the cultural shock differently would be an understatement.
Let me put it this way: In one day, the symbol of the economic system which not only rebuilt Germany and Japan, but collapsed the Soviet union was destroyed. the American might and power of its armed forces, an uncontested force in the world at that stage, was damaged. Now either the symbol of democracy itself (the Capitol) or the influence of America's executive government (the White House) was destroyed.
Nazi Germany AND Imperial Japan never had the capacity to do it.
The Soviet Union couldn't have done it with all its nukes and military might.
An enemy that does not have an identifiable ideology, language or religion to most of the western world at the time, and doesn't even have a uniform.
Now, to put the cherry on the top of the shit sandwich that is being served against the Western World in general, John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia was due to give a speech to the Capitol.

Read history and America itself had started all this, by trying to chase ussr down in Afghanistan they funded those terrorists in the first place.

SocialAssasin, Amen to that dude! May they always be remembered.
@Marie H and what the fuck do you know about it? I know the battalion i served in completed every objective we were given. Girls can go to school in Afghanistan, people are not being tortured in iraq for having a different opinion than one man. No massive terror attack on our soil since 9/11, which at the time and for many years after seemed very unlikely. At some point the people of these countries need to be able to fight for themselves. We can't do it all.

Those passengers were really brave. And it's crazy how even things like delays could drastically change pur timeline
They knew they are going to die, and they had the giant fucking balls of steel to take the blinded hijackers with them

This is basically telling me at the end to not be so annoyed by flight delays tbh
Yeah. Flight delays cause butterflies to happen.
If United 93 had hit the White House or the Capitol Building who knows how America will be like today
Ben Mangrum ...or the country it most certainly would have nuked.
Cody should have mentioned that Tom Clancey wrote a novel in 1994 where a jet plane crashes directly into the U.S. Capitol during a special joint session of Congress... Its called Debt of Honor and describes the outcome.
@@mamavswild nukes are not a toy. And they're banned in warfare so no

It was probably meant for WTC7. The planes were diversions, so FL 93 not hitting any target was no big deal. WTC 1, 2, and 7 were already rigged to implode.
Damn, the respect you gave the tragedy by having the video in a darker, more somber tone shoots up my already high respect for you, Cody.
Do a video on what if Nationalist China won their civil war
Alan Goldsmith then no brother hao
They almost did, if not bcoz of the Americans
There would be a bloody purge much like the Great Purges to purge anyone even remotely suspected of being a communist, even those who the local officials dislike will be purged given how deep corruption was. Following true Purges will be a famine much like the Holodorm, the Harvests Within 10 years before and after the War is bound to fail given how many peasants died and/or failed to return to their fields to harvest. The ROC would also be slow to get relieve food to people since corruption was deep.
Either way, a Totalitarian Government will be in place
Alan Goldsmith and they will be thrown about five year after they won the war by the Mao No.2. There, I solved it for you no need for a video cuz it honestly isn’t worth the time if you have done any research about the Chinese history.

I know a father of seven who died on this day! ....his seventh, as yet, unborn.
Watched it on the 20th anniversary. I'm 43 & remember my wife waking me up as I slept in a bit as the first tower was hit. I was glued to the TV (yes TV & not my Nokia phone or my laptop), & watched the two hours as both towers were hit & fell as was the Pentagon & then Flight 93. I lived in South Omaha near Strategic Air Command (SAC) & saw Air Force One flyover as they took the President to the bunker. That was a relieving site.
ayyy
Now that I'm thinking about it, while there would be significantly less casualties, the Statue of Liberty's destruction would be extremely meaningful. It was a gift, from our allies in France, and for much of our history, has served as a beacon of hope: the figurehead of the American dream, the first thing many of our ancestors saw coming here by boat. Destroying it would not be as impactful going by casualties, but it would have been much more impactful emotionally than the twin towers. Very similar to destroying the dome of the capitol.
DBG537 the terrorists’ plan was to cause as many casualties as possible.
Same terrorists that bombed the WTC in 1993, had plans to bomb lots of places including the Statue of Liberty
I don't think so. Monuments are objects that can be destroyed and rebuilt, just like the White House. Human lives, American lives, cannot be replaced. It's the amount of people who died on 9/11 that's the most striking thing about it,
i dont think youre old enough to really remember, but the towers were THE symbol of us economic dominance for decades. saying liberty being destroyed would be more impactful is completely neglectful of the impact the towers had on the us psyche pre 9/11
to add on with that, my parents came to the us in 1990 and one of the first things they saw was the twin towers. sure the statue of liberty has a lot of meaning, but the twin towers were the beacons of prosperity and hope in the latter portion of the 20th century. to many around around the world, it was destined to be the new statue of liberty.
I always say this. The people who arrived at Ellis Island saw the Statue of Liberty. The people who arrived at JFK saw the World Trade Center. The towers, were essentially, the figurehead of the modern American dream. Ask any foreigner who lived during the 90's. The WTC was the first thing people thought of America.
