THAT 70S SHOW: A TALE OF TWO LAURIES
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 июл 2020
- That 70s Show was for the most part about the life and times fo Eric Forman, his friends and his family. Unfortunately his family included his evil older sister, Laurie.
Laurie Forman was a fan favorite on the show--- portrayed by Lisa Robin Kelly.
From making her younger brother's life a living hell to breaking up Kelso and Jackie to marrying Fez ... many have fond memories of the mean girl with the Farrah Fawcett hair.
Surprisingly though, she wouldn't be the only actress to play the role as in Season Six of the series, Christina Moore took over as the character in a run that is either forgotten or neglected.

Remember when Donna had a sister who must have just been murdered by the whole town and forgotten
Yup, first season the sister is mentioned then nothing after that. Thought i was the only one who noticed that.
steviei2k8 I noticed that too
steviei2k8 Trust me, you weren’t the only one.
I thought she had two sisters initially?😂😂😂😂😂
Wtf I watched that 70s show a lot and don't remember this
To me her replacement did ok she was dull and not like lisa AT ALL. Lisa was very good as Eric's sister.
Agreed, although it might be unfair to compare Christina's performance to Lisa's, seeing how Lisa was on the show for roughly five years, compared to Christina's six episode stint. 😁
Nice summarization of the entire video :P
Christina laughed when her character was called a whore which made her comeback less realistic and less funny. Lisa would act mad and come back at others with a even better comeback
Juliette Wahl agreed, Christina Moore doesn’t even compare
Trina Q Christina’s 6 episodes on the show were torture tho, I can only remember like 2 moments that weren’t cringy
I feel like when laurie came back she had changed her ways, but when christina came she went back to being her old self without any explnation
Shine banana except she forgot the part she literally ended season 5 sleeping w Fez then felt the need to tell him every chance she got in season 6, that she’d never sleep w him.. little things like that bothered me
Yeah
But isn’t that also a script issue? Like script writers messing up? Not necessarily an actress issue.
@@katherinehudson7391 yes but it still felt weird and affected her performemce
Katherine Hudson it was because they changed writers on the last season. Which bothered me because the swept a few things under the rug.
"People hated us recasting Laura, a not so important character... Hm... Let's write in a replacement for Eric, the person the entire series has been around"
to be fair im pretty sure they had to cause he got the role as eddie brock in spiderman 3.
@@gamer83294 Or they could have carried on without adding a new character, ya know? Randy honestly just didn't make sense.
@@sherylyaseen6719 should have just been a side character.
@@pringleman882 Yea they tried to Hard Basing the show around Randy when he Wasn't entertaining at all Would have Just rather seen season 8 be Based off Jackie and Hyde that's what people loved the most anyways lmao
@@sherylyaseen6719 Imagine if they went with their original plan, which was to replace Topher Grace as Eric with Josh Meyers and have him come back from Africa as a "changed man" to explain his different appearance. That shit would've pissed everyone off even more.
Christina isn't a bad actress, but Lisa just played Laurie sooooo well. Her mannerisms, her delivery of the lines and the way she could throw daggers with her eyes.
Yeah .Daggers..tasty......
RIP to her!
Lisa Robin Kelly had that mean look, the high pitched voice to work on red and that low voice to talk to Eric and show how evil she really is. Lisa took a role that could have been insignificant and made Laurie shine. With Moore it looks like she took the script snd just said it, no perosnality, no depth. I think they just wanted a hot blond to close the storyline. If she was any good she would have been in more that just a few episodes.
1000% Agree with you!
Every line was mono toned. As if she was reading them off cards like SNL
Agree. She was horrible
u said it best
Christina Moore was let go precisely because the fans didn’t like her, but Lisa Robin Kelly’s personal issues were a problem too
I went to Rehab with Lisa K in the summer of 2010. In VA. She was so kind. We graduated the program the same day. Addiction unfortunately took her life. After two more relapses, I’ve been sober for almost 10 years now. Always eerie to see her in videos.
Congrats on the 10 years. Yea so sad that she passed.
Congrats-my dad struggled his whole life and it's such an honor to see someone who has managed what he never was able to do. Live a good and happy life!
Congratulations on your 10 years!
Did you get her autograph?
Congrats for your 10 years sober
In keeping with how discarded she was from the show, Lisa Robin Kelly was left off the Blu-Ray box set packaging, and when she died, the only castmember to attend her funeral was her tv dad Kurtwood Smith. 0ver the years, Smith has kept in regular contact with her family while Ashton, Mila, Topher, Wilmer & Danny all forgot she was even alive. So to Kurtwood Smith I say you are the only castmember with a sense of honor.
JARED BARATTA it's very hard having someone in your life with a substance abuse problem, and they were co-workers not an actual family, it's tragic yes but it doesn't make the rest of them bad people.
@@gracehaven5459 See above, she got left off the fucking packaging for the goddamn boxset Blu-Ray, and she was in the credits, and at her funeral, Kurtwood Smith is the only costar to show her and her family any compassion, any decency. I don't give a fuck how things ended, you don't discard a human being like that. Red Forman may have been a pain in the ass, but Kurtwood Smith crushes the rest of the cast in humanity. Fuck you!
@@jaredbaratta8589 Yeah you freaking out over someone giving a valid opinion over your comment shows how in touch you are with humanity.
@@jaredbaratta8589 I'm 100% guarentee that you have people in your life that had drug addiction issues that you never helped. Or you in turn ARE someone with the addiction issue and that is why you are reacting so inappropriately to the situation. That's coming from someone that works in addictions treatment AND mental health btw.
@@gracehaven5459 When I was 15, my friend Thornton died of a heroin overdose. My brother & I did everything we could to help him, we helped his brother do everything he could to help him. He was an addict for years but we still stuck by him. For Lisa Robin Kelly's costars, it wasn't sexy to help her, to even remember she was alive. More than substance abuse, the woman died of a broken heart. Kurtwood Smith should never have been the only costar to give a fuck, but like I said before, the way she was erased by being left off the Blu-Ray boxset was the final insult and what I think finally killed her.
“Second actor casting is honestly why I use the Multiverse theory as a coping mechanism.”
I thought it was just me sometimes I tell myself “in another universe this didn’t happen and I’m just watching an alternate one 😩”
@@nicoleb5415 same.
Good one.
why does this sound like something abed would say haha
While the writing was there, her line delivery was FLAT, there was a lack of face expressions and body language. It didnt fit with t70s and their cartoonlike style
True. You can watch That 70’s show with a blindfold and you’ll still know who is talking.
04:45+04:46+04:47+04:48
The tale of Laurie is such a sad one because Lisa Robin Kelly totally OWNED the role of Laurie. She brought so much life and personality to the character that was very infectious. It's like you said, you could both despise and like her as a character and I didn't mind that they gave her a bit of positive leaning character growth when she returned in season 4 and wanted to try to be a better person (though still promiscuous). Lisa WAS Laurie and no one could ever replace her. The replacement actress just lacked the charisma and charm that Lisa brought to the role. No offense to her, I'm sure she's a fine enough actress, it's just that she had big shoes to fill with the character and failed at it but to be fair to her, I don't think any actress could bring that perfection back to the character that Lisa brought. I don't think Christina Moore's portrayal was the worst, I will agree that she still had somewhat of the Laurie vibe with her lines but I think it's the general tone that I had more of an "eh" thing with.
It's such a shame that Lisa was struggling with so much in her life and just couldn't get the help she truly needed. I still remember her infamous mugshot and was mortified at what happened to her when reading about her personal life and was hoping she would find the strength to bounce back but then she unfortunately passed away. It really was a sad tale.
With Christina Moore she certainly could've been worse there was just no competing against Lisa Robin Kelly, its one of those cases on TV where Lisa was Laurie, you can't have Laurie Forman without Lisa, she did the role too well Christina just didn't have the same charisma to live up to the role. It felt more that, while Christina did a serviceable job at playing Laurie by lines and dialogue, she didn't have that sense of vindictive or manipulating persona Lisa could play that brought the Laurie character to the way she was.
It just sucks that I hated her character on Jessie too (along with literally every other character on the show)
@@gleamingroses2952 Right and when I think about it, you can say the same for all the main cast. Like they all WERE their characters and replacements just wouldn't be an option for them.
I guess there's a lesson in that, something I learned in school and carried with me into adulthood: drugs are bad. Maybe she skipped class that day when they taught that message.
@hayd×n cooper yes, because people do drugs as a mean to fuck up their life, and addiction isn't complex at all
Truly, the reason people do drugs is because they don't know they are bad
Dumbass
Always annoyed me how in season 6 Laurie would always say she would never sleep w/ Fez when in reality she ended season 5 in bed w/ him. It’s like they changed half her character’s personality
Or foreshadowed...
@@NoNoseProduction wdym? 6 is after 5?
Right they did it in the van 🚐 lol
Remember those five entire seconds in the VERY beginning of the series when Donna had a sister who was cast and shown on camera for a single joke? Nice budget for a television sitcom, huh?
And was only ever mentioned again during a quick credits segment that was parodying soap operas. "What ever happened to Midge's daughter Tina? Find out next time on That 70s Show!"
I wonder if that will be his next video on That 70's show because her disappearance has always bugged the crap out of me
That 70s show was horrible at continuity, even by the standards of shows at that time. The whole show takes place in about 4 years and there’s 7 or 8 Christmas episodes.
@@lynottlives LOL!
@@lynottlives Lol yeah the show definitely wasn't the best with continuity but thankfully the first few seasons were funny so you could easily ignore it lol
Lisa Robind made you hate the character the second actress didnt do anything
I dont think Red was neglectful. He was just very strict.
I had a friend in highschool who's father was almost the same as Red. He very much was an asshole. Sure he was strict, but very much unreasonably so.
It wouldn't be the word I'd use but it depends on intention behind the word. Because of his lack of common interest with Eric, it was a big deal when he wanted to spend time with his son or express love. He did in his own way with distance, but he wasn't attentive and affectionate with Eric.
Dumbass!
Yeah neglectful wasn’t a good word choice
he's emotionally neglectful tho
When I was a kid, I thought new Laurie was a different character
But they kept calling her "Laurie."
@James Wilkinson A kid with ears... I assume.
Vits Vicente Torres Some people have the same names. There were a lot of Jessica’s in my class.
Vits Vicente Torres y’all niggas mean
James Wilkinson 😂😂😂
Josh Myers and fake Laurie were the worst mistakes of That 70's Show.
and Donna's sister who disappeared, nobody talked about her anymore and suddenly Donna was a singleton 😅
Josh was a hottie
Preach defintely Agree with you
And Jackie and Fez ending up together 🤮
TV Fanatic I definitely agree they wasn’t match
She was only 43 when she died :(
RIP Lisa
She looked 63
@@AnAdorableWombat Drugs can make people a lot older than their age.
Honestly, I think Christina is one of the most forgettable parts of the show.
boredXsomethingXIDK yep right next to Randy’s name
And Eric’s replacement in the final series.
Right the second actress could’ve probably been a whole different character and no one would complain
Yeah super forgettable because I forgot she was replaced and I’ve rewatched the show twice
Just like Donnas blonde hair...
Lisa Robin Kelly was such a good actress and so perfectly cast--the voice, the look, the attitude... She was perfect. The second Laurie was so unmemorable that I had forgotten about her until this video
I dont see how anyone could think Christina Moore was a good replacement. Her comedic timing and chemistry was so bad, and half of the time she sounded like she was stumbling through her lines.
She is actually really similar to Randy in that respect. She's terrible.
The second Laurie failed because she couldn’t make the character her own. She was an imitation at best.
Lisa had the charisma, youthful voice, catty demeanour and facial expressions to match. Christina was like a deadpan newsreader reading the auto queue.
I personally found Christina grating. She was MEH at best.
Exactly. She's not the worst but certainly not the best. Lisa played the character too perfectly lol.
Christina did a horrible job because her Laurie was boring, forgettable and waaay off character. That's the worst thing that a replacement actress (and writers) can do. I'd understand if Christina was playing a different character, but Laurie was definitely not her character. Imo, Christina's Laurie worse than Randy. At least Randy had a personality, but not a lot.
Shawn Baker right lmaoo, it was like half of Laurie’s character changed as well
Potato Man exactly! Laurie was sassy, quirky, idek how to describe it, Christina Moore couldn’t deliver any of her lines the same way
@@clovesevina9763 Yeah! Christina's version was way out of character compared to Laurie's version.
Laurie Forman is legitimately my favorite character on this show. Her character is so underrated, Lisa portrayed the character perfectly & made it iconic. The replacement made her character legitimately annoying
jigyoda to you maybe, Laurie seasons 1-3 were iconic, she walked so the thots of today could run
Clove Sevina Laurie & Jackie >>
Bob is my favorite character
I repressed Christina as Laurie . Lisa was Laurie and everything after her seemed to fall off . Losing Topher only made things worse
Original Laurie was best. The "replacement" was not "bitchy" enough to be Laurie.
Hry atleast we didnt get a tale of 2 Erics
That been funny ,
Could of used Tobey McGuire as Eric lol
Like in spiderman 3 😂
@@Jacespace23 true
10:00 Damn, I didn't know Uncle Phil was on That 70s Show. RIP.
She was like a plain slice of white bread compared to Lisa Robin Kelly's portrayal of the character. I remember being so bored with how ditsy, slow and boring she was compared to OG Laurie. The spunk of the Laurie character was gone.
Rest in peace, Lisa Robin Kelly. 💗 😢 Plus, I thought that Christina Moore did a decent job with what she was given, and delivered her own take on Laurie, and doesn't try to copy Lisa. 😻
Yeah that's some messed up stuff.
Wow I never seen a picture of her since the show. She aged harshly and she’s dead? Holy shit.
Yea she lied bout not being on drugs but you can clearly see that she was judging by the recent pictures
Drugs and alcohol
Janaka I guess so. Why separate drugs and alcohol? I hate that.
she was a good actress such a shame
@@jonnybaze that confused me as well
I heard somewhere Laurie ended up being a mom to some kids named Emma, Luke, Ravi and Zuri back in New York. (I oughta know since Lisa Robin Kelly's replacement Christina Moore played their hot smokin' mother on Disney Channel's "JESSIE".)
Lol that's where i recognized her.
Lol I remember that !
When lisa played her, she had an evil/manipulative undertone but the new actress didnt
This was a very sweet analysis of the character and was respectful to both actresses. i think for me the difference is lisa played her with more disgust, dirty looks, and snark. the second actress was great, but suddenly so much sweeter and nicer. even her quips felt like playful banter, while lisa's version would probably microwave a cat
I cant even remember Christina Moore and Ive seen this show thousand times when I was young
That ‘90s Show should bring Christina Moore for an episode in season 2. Let’s see how Leia gets along with her Aunt Laurie.
Her movements and even her facial expressions were.... incredible. Vacant but also manipulating, kind yet fierce.
There’s something to her performance.
One of my favorite lines from the entire series “he’s having an arm attack”
christina was okay, doing her job. also lisa robin kelly embodied laurie so well it's unfair to expect anyone to give us what kelly was giving.
The replacement Laurie sucked at acting. It’s like she was doing a bad impression of the original actress.
Probably why you dont see her nomore
David Jefferson she was the mom on Jessie and a doctor tv show
lllCloWnBabylll well that’s just mean
She wasn't that bad
@@maureencolleen5586 Ohhhh yes she was LOL her and Randy were just the worst casting decisions the show did.
I had no idea she died. That's so heart breaking.
It'll always be difficult to replace an actor/actress that made the role. It's one thing when you can reboot the character under new circumstances (think James Bond or Batman,) but Laurie wasn't simply a character at that point; she was Lisa's portrayal of Laurie... I didn't care for Chistina Laurie, but it wasn't anything wrong she did. She just wasn't the Laurie of the show. Had she had the role all along, and the character to develop from the start... who knows.
RIP Lisa
Reminds me of the big task Aiko Horiuchi had to undertake when filling in the shoes for Takako Fuji as Kayako for The Grudge 3. It wasn’t the same
I absolutely loved the original Lori. May she rest in peace...😢🙏💙

Shit you're lucky. I wish my recommended actually had new channels.
So did I.
2:50 Thank you for not forgetting this wonderful moment!
Thank you for this video there isn’t a lot of people discussing That 70’s Show
Christina seemed to lack the character and emotion that Lisa put into the role. Laurie was meant to be hated and at the same time, felt sorry for. With Christina, you just hated Laurie. There was a complete regression of the character.
This was something that happened more often in sitcoms of the 70s and 80s it became a trope
I feel like the second actress was trying her best to be like the first actress, but the line delivery was just not the same.
this video was well done, and the tribute at the end was a nice touch 🥺
Been waiting for this video
Tbh, I originally watched this whole series on my 3ds back in n the day, and if it wasn't for her voice I wouldn't have noticed she was a different person
Yeah, Netflix on the 3ds was hard make faces, unless they were the whole scene
@@bigboiariel it was shit, but I loved it with me not having a tv in my room, it let me watch movies at night , also I could just put it on the charging cradle and keep it on my nightstand and enjoy
The replacement did very well, butI did notice that they reverted her to classic bitch Laurie, whereas at the end of the previous season she was being protrayed as a changed woman. Once the actress was someone else if they had continued with that viewers would have got confused how this character acting completely differently to what they had become used to was then somehow still Laurie.
She was a mannequin who had no personality. Letd be real
11:02 = CLASSY AF! Well done and thank you
Brilliant 🤩 thanks 🙏
My issue was that there wasn't one scene showing how she went from the Laurie Eric actually hugged in season 5 right back to same kind of Laurie prior to that in season 6 in the next appearance, just with a little less snark and less hatred towards Eric. Just sort of a snapback with a new actor on top of it all.
Like a scene where she decides to split the difference between the old and the new and go from there. That's all I wanted.
I LOVED Lisa as Laurie she nailed that role 😂👌 also Lisa and Topher actually looked like brother and sister (the eyes) lol and their chemistry was amazing too! Perfect casting.
I love the warm and accepting opening comments of this video.

Love the disclaimer, never gets old
Lisa Robin Kelly was flawless, RIP girl.
Lisa Robyn Kelly made me laugh so hard when she ripped on Kelso for the leather jacket: AYYYYYEEEE 👍👍🤣

In the scenes showed here, the lines written for Moore were still great, but the delivery did not have the bite they needed. Lisa would have knocked them out of the park. Lisa had such great talent. It is so sad she had so many hardships
Great video. So sad for Kelly.
I remember seeing the posts about Lisa Kelly’s death. It honestly made me sad, RIP Lisa
I totally disagree with this. There's so much opinion pandering in this.
That 70s show is my all time favorite show and I gotta say without a doubt that Christina SUCKED. It was like a totally different character. She just didnt fit. Her timing and reactions were horrible. Lisa WAS lorie. And i say that not bc she was original, it's due to her acting. It was 100% natural and believable. Where as christina was a horrible over actor with lame facial expressions that had 0 timing.
To even say she came in, fit in and played lorie right is laughable. They totally rewrote the role for her.
And btw the original plan wasn't for Josh to play Eric. The original plan was for Charlie to become the main replacement for Eric. When he got a starring role in another show, he was written off. Then the randy thing happened. While it was an idea, they never would have went through with it due to the reaction christiana got replacing lisa.
I agree, and what was the show that Charlie's actor got cast?
Princess Bunny don’t you remember Bret Harrison’s Reaper on the CW?
Christina's highlight reel made me think she was worse than I remembered. Very bland and sitcomy.
Perfect 👌
Laurie recast actress was absolutely gorgeous 😍
She was a Hell of a beauty damn shame some people are so broken that these things happen.
I def think that Christina Moore sounded like she was reading off a script. Didn't give any personality at all to the character.
Super happy to see somone talking about that 70s show, for some reason the office and friends have seen a much discussed revival, but not this one which is a shame because personally I think the first four seasons of this show are far better then anything the other two had to offer
I was so high watching the episodes I never noticed
I wouldn't agree that Red was neglectful I will agree that he was dissaponted because throughout the show from my perspective I see Red is trying to teach Eric some responsibility and be responsible for your actions and throughout the entire show Eric does stupid things and is a brat for most of the show until he finally leaves for Africa which is the one thing that Red actually supports him on because Eric is finally being responsible and doing something instead of sitting at home, not having a job and taking a break for an entire year
Also in my opinion I feel like it might've been cool if they kept going with the Laurie and Fez marriage or relationship because it did show her changing a little with wanting to be close to her family and even being nicer to Eric and marrying Fez so he could stay in the country. I honestly didn't like that immediately after that Laurie couldn't stand Fez and didn't seem like the Laurie from the previous season. I feel like they could've done what they did with Savannah in season 8 but with fez and Laurie and maybe even have Laurie go and sleep with other guys but she starts not liking it and not having as much fun as she used to and see her actually start liking being around Fez and could even show Her and Fez connecting in a way and her and Fez ultimately stay together for the show and showing Fez and Laurie actually work well off each other and kinda do the Jackie and Hyde relationship again where it seems like it wouldn't work but than they find out that they actually work well together
The second Laurie was the mom on Jessie
NOOO we didnt know
God rest her soul. I loved Lisa's Laurie, she was perfect for the role. RIP Lisa, you're not forgotten.
seriously dude, ur analytic skills are awesome when it comes to these kinda vids.
Christina was great. I don’t think they could have actually found someone better. But Lisa robin kelly was so good, it would have been impossible for anybody to fill her shoes.
She was a bad replacement not as bad as Eric replacement but she never satisfied the Laurie storyline she made it her own and that killed the vibe of the character.
So sad Lisa died. This series really is what I like to imagine being teens in the 70s was like leading into the decade that I had my teens in, the 80s. Personally I have fond memories of most of the 70s.
I never realized how much she (Kelly) does resemble Eric.
The replacement "Laurie" didnt really do it for me, but it's not easy to fill another person's spot.
But the first one was way better, the second one didnt really have that facial expressions.
Wow, I must have stopped watching the show by the time the 2nd Laurie was cast. The first one was ICONIC and was always dominated the scene whenever she showed up onscreen
I love that you've used a final Fantasy 10 song for the rest in peace for Lisa part of the Video.
Lisa Robin Kelly was the perfect Laurie. Her timing, her expressions. She took being that annoying older sister and turned it up to 11. It also looked like she was having a great time playing the role as well. Christina Moore was a plank of wood. I didn't even know her name till you put it in this video.
I would agree that the bigger problem after the casting change was more an issue of how the character ended up not doing much of anything, not really the fault of the actress
Kitty was hilarious and my stepdad likes to imitate Red
Wow!
Rest in peace
Second Laurie (Christina Moore) wasn't as good, but mostly because of the scripts IMO. Lisa Robin Kelly was great because she got a lot of (story)lines. The second Laurie felt too much like a vehicle to wrap things up with Fez, and to get a few punchlines. I think her acting was great.
I love Lisa Robyn Kelly the best as Laurie. No offense to the other actress, but I just prefer Lisa Robyn Kelly. Lisa was so hot and it is sad what happened to her. R.I.P.
Lisa was a rockstar and she went out like one.. RIP, Beautiful.
I loved Lisa as Laurie she was such a good actress
I always just figured it was a nod to that weird Brady Bunch variety show where they had to obviously recast Jan.
So, I guess now you're obligated to do a video on that. I already forged your signature on the paperwork, so it's legally binding in the court of law.
Oddly enough never liked Eric's sister. She was alright IMO. But I was saddened when LRK passed away. I remember where I saw it, I was at the doctor's office. RIP Lisa Robin Kelly.
This guy’s videos make me sad don’t know why ( and no I’m not offended) still gonna watch because of quality production
