I agree. Even if she's not half bad herself, she doesn't even come as close as the lead singer. He's in a league of his own ;)
I think the problem lies with the lack of power in her voice, or the fact that she's singing more closely in a Soul singing style than the more powerful, resonating loudness of a proper shanty. It's not that her voice is bad, as it is extremely ill-fitting for the song.
