Very nice. I'll have to give this a try. I grabbed one of these for a song cover, but I've kinda fallen in love with the sounds it can do. I was amazed how good the filter is for a rompler.
Thanks for doing this. However I've replicated every step exactly, but still no Filter Cutoff and Resonance affected. I wonder if there is a system setting to Receive CC ?
I’m expecting my Akai MPD218 Pad midi Controller today & I had just ordered a like new Roland JV-1080 yesterday from Guitar 🎸 Center so I should have it by Tuesday I am a new beginner & I also have a M-Audio Keyboard 🎹 Midi Controller that has the midi out connection on it along with a 4Port USB Hub MacBook Pro 💻 a pair of silver Rokit KRK monitors and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2nd generation audio interface as my beginner set up. However I wanted to know what exactly cable I need so I can play the 1080 sounds from my midi pad controller & my M-Audio MK3 Key Station MIDI controller? Because even though I was giving a copy of Logic 10.5 for my MacBook Pro 💻 I want to start off learning Logic because it’s supposed to be way better then Akai’s MPC Beats
easy! you need a usb to midi cable. plug the usb edge to the computer and the midi to the roland. the best is to get a usb that has 2 edges for midi.. IN and OUT. so you can send and recieve info from your roland.you can save your patches from roland to computer that way : )
The midi thru on my keyboard is not sending midi message to my jv 1080. In and out are working well. I even changed the panel on my keyboard and it's still the same. Got any ideas?
Very useful! Could you make a tutorial about asignation of two different patches to independent midi channels? For example: I want to set a grand piano sound to channel 1 and a strings sound to channel 2 (in the jv) so that when I wire to it a midi router with 2 midi keyboards (keyboard 1-channel 1 and keyboard 2-channel 2), one keyboard will play the piano sounds and the other will play the string sounds, all at the same time. Thanks!!

hi, can you please explain what is the programmed connection btw actual POT on midi controller and SYSTM CTRL 2? Are you saying that if you program ANY knob to CC71 (cut off) it wipll go to cut off of the filter? What if i assign SYSTM CTRL2 to panning? and knob is assigned to CC71? I do not get relation btw CC# on the midi controller and SYSTM CTRL 2 or 3. How ROLAND knows if CC3 has to go to SYSTM 2 or STSM 3? THX
hey, do you happen to know if only two CCs can be assigned per patch? the CC number must first be assigned via the system, but there are only two. but here several CCs are to be controlled via Ableton.
@G r û v i n thank you for your feedback. Yes, I have researched it more closely and you can probably e.g. control a lot from the device via ableton max for live with sysex, but it's quite complicated. the editors offered on the internet are unfortunately quite unstable.
@@todojo the editor works for me too, but there are many crashes and memory problems with the project. I've now found out and you could control all parameters via max for live with sysex, but that's quite complicated. the editors also work with sysex. my best solution, if this is of interest at all here, is to use the two CCs, which already offers a lot of modulation options and to assign the individual outputs of the JV-1080 individually to the audio interface, so i can e.g. Effect different layers with outboard and fade in and out via volume. that's actually enough. I automate the rest in the JV myself.
Not sure if I am understanding you correctly. Once you have set up the SYS-CTRL in the JV1080 will this affect any sound patch you play like a global setting, or do you have to set this up for every single time you want to control the cutoff and resonance for different sounds presets and patches?

Thank you!! Very much appreciated. A vid on using multitibrality in performance mode would be awesome!!
This has helped me out an enormous amount, but do you know how to make this work in Performance Mode, so I can automate from Ableton?
Thanks for that. Do you have any idea on how to use an external arpeggiator with the jv1080 via midi. I would like to use the R3 arpeggiator.
I use arps from logic via midi cable
Extremely helpful, thank you!

oh yes, there is, search in general settings to accept incoming cc. or just reset all setting and it should receive...
i' replicated too but no cut of too.. all other cc massages are working like expression and volume. but not cut off nor res... any idea
