That’s what everyone said when ken left melee back in the day, but there really wasn’t a difference. One king left and three more fought to take the spot. I could see that happening in smash 4 too. New stories and sht to be written.
This is like an anime. Zero being the character who sacrificed everything to be the best. And now for the last episode, once he has accomplished his goal, retiring, moving to a new chapter to further grow as person and fulfilling his new goals. He will always remember the adventures he had with all the community of SSB4, but at the same time moving forward, freeing himself up from the chains long holding him back from further living. This isnt the end, its a legend to be left solved but not unfinished. He's ready to move to a new step in this staircase we call life, and use this experience he gained during these beautiful years to keep moving forward. Thanks for the awesome years in Smash and sharing your success and happiness with us, best of luck Zero and hopefully you succeed with your new goals. :)

This was personally inspirational to me because I can relate to it a lot. I hate that one trick pony feeling too ZeRo. Smash takes up a lot of my time but deep down I know there are other things I would love to try, like art or writing stories. I even stopped robotics for a while to improve at smash, but seeing you being able to break out of your most successful passion for a while inspires me to do the same. I've been a fan since I was 14(now 16). I don't want to ramble too long so I'll just finish off here lol. Thank you Zero, for giving me something and someone to watch when ever I felt like I wasn't good enough at smash. Anyway, you have my support and best of luck to all your future endeavors! I love you ZeRo. I bet I can't express myself better than other people in the comment section, but despite that and the really low chance of you seeing this, I will speak my mind.
I love you dude. You've been my inspiration to play Smash. You were the first Smash related RUclipsr (or any fighting game for that matter) I subscribed to. This was early 2015, before I discovered you had won Apex. I just subscribed to you because your personality was great, your videos with Nairo and M2K were hilarious, and you gave good advice on improving at Smash. I didn't even know you were a pro. You just seemed like a good player who knew his stuff.
So since that time, I have been subscriber and a big fan. I've always rooted for you, even at the times Leo was using MK against you and doing well. You've been a big inspiration to me in both real life matters, and in getting better at the game. Your impact on me cannot be stated enough or expressed into words. I just want to say thank you ZeRo for being my hero. I hope you find happiness and success in whatever you do in this next chapter of your life. And I will always support you no matter what you decide to do.

I feel like that underlies the problem on our side. We can support what he does, and how far he's come, but I think we as a community need to understand that ZeRo will not come back to smash 4. With that in mind, we won't eventually find ourselves egging him on to make a comeback. Let's just try to be as respectful as possible on this decision.

And I have a feeling that once he gets into the swing of whatever life he's planned for himself now, he'll realize that the reason he said that he "might come back" was only a part of his neverending routine to keep coming back to a game he doesn't enjoy. He said that he has some surprises in the future, and I believe him, but right now, I'm skeptical.

But once he had won, he wasn't happy anymore. But he wasn't willing to let go of what he had built. He became eventually depressed. After a few months, he started going to therapy. He told his therapist he didn't want to work in his oil company anymore. His therapist word him want he did want to do. He thought on this question, and one day it came to him: he wanted to own a restraunt. I agree with everything you said however don't feel bad about being 22 and unsure of yourself. You are still very young and in your early stages of life. You're lucky to be so young and in control of your destiny. Some people find this out about themselves way later in their lives and that's truly a frightening revelation.

changing how you hold controllers helps a lot with keeping hands sound, takes a really long time to break the instincts that get developed into how you play & make you do unnecessary things when you push yourself as far as you can go though

ZeRo, you've always been an inspiration to me in smash 4. You were the reason I came to the competitive scene and went to tournaments. I hope everything works itself out and you can be happy. And thanks to you I found something I love no matter what anyone else thinks, thank you for everything ZeRo. One day I hope to battle even one round against you in a friendly match. Zero, I just want you to know that no matter what happens, you'll always be number 1 for me. Because you were my inspiration to even start trying to play competitively and while I'm still not too good at it it's still been an awesome experience to live. So with that I hope you get what you are looking for and that you succeed in whatever it is you desire to you. Happy 2018!!!
ZeRo, you've been amazing for this scene. You're such a kind and considerate person and you represented our community so well, and we really appreciate you for that. I'm happy to say I own your shirt and I bought it as soon as it came out a couple years back. You're the only one in this community I would have done that for; and even though it's bittersweet as a fan, I'm glad you're taking care of yourself and doing what's right for you. We love and support you no matter what!
Definitly a good desicion :) others get destroyed first and then hate everything about their time with games. U can keep these memories as a motivation to keep going, a reminder that anything is possible.

ZeRo you've been one of my absolute favorite players ever since I first got into the competitive smash scene with PM. I'll certainly miss seeing you compete in tournaments, but I think it's amazing that you are taking this huge step in taking your life in the direction that you truly want to take it, and I wish you the best of luck in doing so :)
