the tip about charging Power Slash mid-roll to conserve your momentum is actually game changing, I found it so clunky to use in lane otherwise. Learning how to cancel grapple properly is also so huge, no more getting Wraith ulted while you're stuck in the spinning animation
If im solo lane ill avoid charging it until i have 1 point into it, i usally upgrade my 3rd ability twice. if im in a duo lane though its really easy to flank the sides and catch them with the charged attack even staying completely still
Thank you for this guide. I was having trouble understanding Yamato and this guide helped a lot. Following this guide and the build I was able to carry a game tonight and literally 1v6 a whole team. It was awesome and my favorite moment in the game yet. Thanks for sharing your secrets!
Quality guide friend! As someone who's been trying to get better with Yamato and has been lacking in damage...And just in general in trying to play her I appreciate the tech and build! Not to mention I'll be more than happy to catch a stream when possible! Very blessed and hope to try and improve my gameplay with this! Much love brother!
LITERALLY It's such a problem in the Moba genre, like replays are a valuable part of a guide, but a lot of the time it's just like "this is how I played and won this specific game" not, "this is how to actually pilot and think like this character"
Excellent guide. I tried to use that top rated gun build and it works well IF you're super ahead. Your build, on the other hand, just always works and it's much more fun to use.
Honestly sick guide. I'm new and I tried out your build and just doing the dash slash, I was able to pressure and secure kills. Going to be practicing the other techs now. Keep doing what you're doing!
I accidentally got invested into playing Yamato because she got picked for me 6 times in a row and now I adore her so much. I guess I am sticking with your channel for a long time because I am considering maining her. Subbed.
You should upload some full-length matches you think showcase these concepts well! I'd love to see exactly how you use your 1 in lane in a real match and all the cool techs youve most likely found with it

Really good video dude. I heard that Yamato was really hard to play when I first started so I was hesitant to try but this makes her seem way more accessible.
Been using your build to some success since I found it on the discord, but I was missing the playstyle differences between the tanky and squishy paths. Thanks for the video!
500 hours, Jesus Christ mate the game hasn't even come out yet. In all seriousness, this vid's a boon of useful information. That dash-slash cancel is a genuine game changer
@@FredTheFinch Aww no worries. I'm also a bit hard of hearing, so I'm kinda used to it. Closed Captions/subtitles would be dope. Love the Build, Love the guide.
Thanks for the guide! Outside of cancelling 2 into altfire+quick melee, any chance you could talk a bit about when to use primary vs. alt fire, melee (either form) vs just shooting, if you should ever try to hold 1 or just send it off cd, that kind of stuff?
Yamato is sick. I use JukeS build, which is basically identical to yours, and I was wondering what makes you choose between the anti tank vs anti squishy route. Like, is it more their comp, or more who on their team is performing best? Cus you'll get tanky teams with a Haze who's 10K ahead, or vice versa.
Yea honestly a combination of the two, if it’s 4 or 5 tanks I’ll almost always go tanky anyways but if it’s 2 or 3 I would go the reverb route if the tanks are underperforming and ee if they’re rolling us
Personally bee really enjoying ammo scav early cause when at max stacks you get plus 24 spirit power + 4 inherently from the perk which is an extra 56 damage on power slash the extra ammo is always nice Nice guide tho didn’t know about the mantle power slash
@@FredTheFinch I've found that grapple cancels when your velocity drops to a small threshold. This usually happens when you hit a wall without a deep enough angle or you hit a corner. I just had a game where a group of enemy troopers canceled my grapple because I was below it on a hill so I was pulled up into the group.
Maybe one day or I’ll cut it up a bit or smthn I don’t wanna jsut post a full game alone, I do have my voda up on twitch and will prolly be doing more specific videos next
hey thanks for the guide as this was the first character i got to use when i started. In your honest opinion do you think this game has a bright future or are you skeptical? worth grinding?
Awesome guide, i was having fun with her before but now with the dash 1 combo its even cooler. Would it be possible to add notes of which items should imbue which abilities to the in game guide? i.e. superior cd
Right now I’d put her in A tier, she’s definitely tough and it might be better to learn the game a lil more before trying her but if she seems interesting then no reason not to
Txh for guide and combo tips. I have one question - in every build kinetic dash but I find that melee charge I proc more often in 1v1 and for fast farm and push better. Could u explain why literally all Yamato players prefer kinetic dash to melee charge? I just begin (35 games in Deadlock and 5-6 games in Yamato) but I old mobas enjoer and love build discussions ^)
So Yamato mostly uses light melees rather than heavy melees to not get parried, and with melee charge it’s even easier to get parried than with normal heavy melee Kinetic dash is just much more versatile as well as it helps with movement and ups your fire rate and ammo
Have you tried getting torment pulse earlier so you can farm/push quicker? I've been trying it to get it before or after KD depending on game state/economy
just getting used to the movemtn of hte game takes time, using someo f the techs and just things like dash jumps or dash slides, using cover are all important
Just had my first game with her and got matched vs a Vindictive and was malding a bit. Glad to hear you say that as well lol I duo queue with a friend and we've always gotten on the same lane but didn't this time. Is this because of our heros or just got queues wit htwo other duo queues?

Because for the longest time I was complaining that there was no elo because I kept getting queued with either people that are better than me or absolute griefers. Edit: Also this guide is goated af, never knew you could do all that with grapple
It’s hidden but there were websites like deadlocktracker.gg and tracklock which had external elo systems that tried to approximate your mmr. I believe they stopped tracking your games starting a few days ago but if you’re curious around where you’re at you can check
I don’t love leech just because you’re not benefitting much from the bullet lifesteal and you can get things like reverb or spiritual overflow that also give you spirit lifesteal as a passive

not enough epople use the dash slash its genuinely a differnet ability iwth it
@@FredTheFinch agreed leads are much easier to attain after seeing this vid, plus the ledge lift 1
